Injustice: Gods Among Us - Ultimate Edition6
Sep 3, 2014
Surprisingly entertaining storyline that compliments the mechanics of the game and gives reason for why someone like Deathstroke or Cyborg could stand toe to toe with Doomsday or Superman. HOWEVER, the multiplayer is COMPLETELY broken for PC and it is inexcusable. Not one single person buys a fighting game to play it alone. Mobile crossover unlocks which are a huge selling point for the game are also broken. For a crew with a long history of making games like these, this should be embarrassing.

Words cannot express how sick and tired of these clones I am. A 60 dollar price tag and 15 dollar a month sub? The "Most feature complete MMORPG to be released since WoW." That is the most laughable claim of all the laughable claims they made. I promised WoW would be the last, then I promised Aion would be the last, then I promised TERA would be the last, well I freaking guarentee you this is the last. Wildstar just broke the camel's back. Any hope or desire I ever had to experience another MMORPG is forever gone. I officially despise MMORPGs now. Go die in a fire, MMORPGS. Someone just hand me an XBox controller and a CoD game. That crap MUST be better than this junk.

A great reboot to a franchise that desperately needed it. This game reminds me a lot of Assassin's Creed mechanics mixed with a Far Cry theme and survival setting. Though the world was open to explore, the gameplay was linear and always pointed you to a specific place or direction. Not much to do aside from the base story other than collect the collectables that we are so fond of in games like these. However, what it delivered in the single player campaign was a quality, story-driven experience. The multiplayer is already completely dead. Could not manage to get into a multiplayer game after an hour of waiting on two different occasions.

Batman: Arkham Origins - Cold, Cold Heart6
Jun 16, 2014
I remember what a HUGE fuss everyone made when WB first revealed the Origins Batsuit. People was mad. I kinda think WB was like, "Oh you guys dont like our batman?...WELL **** YOU!!! How do you like IRONBAT!? Now he's a walking tank with neon lights!" TBH, I thought this DLC was rather dull. I was hoping they would put their own twist onto the story as they have seemed to do with the rest of the Arkham franchise, but Cold, Cold Heart was the most predictable and un-original story the arkham series has told thus far.

Amazing F2P game with a really impressive development team. They are extremely transparent with what they are working on and get the community heavily involved through weekly devstreams and Q&A. Warframe is a constantly evolving game with new things added frequently. The fairest pay model I have ever seen. EVERYTHING but cosmetics can be acquired through normal gameplay, and cosmetics that cannot be acquired through normal gameplay can be acquired by selling materials or blueprints you do not need for the premium currency. However, Warframe still has yet to polish its new player experience, which holds the game back. A proper intro and tutorial are needed badly for any future expansion of its playerbase. As of now, getting started is the most difficult part of Warframe.

Outlast: Whistleblower9
Jun 16, 2014
I though Outlast was amazing and gave it a 9/10. Whistleblower has the exact same gameplay and mechanics as the base game, only you get to view the story from the perspective of someone else in the asylum and get to encounter a few new psychos too. If you enjoyed and wanted more Outlast, here it is! My only real complaint would be a few very noticeably scripted events that I rarely seen in the base game. Particularly, enemies triggering or spawning only after you cross a specific threshold, giving the enemy a forced jump on you. "...Lookin' at you, Frank Manara..." But it was rare and few.

Outlast9
Jun 16, 2014
I often forgot this was a game. Outlast does such an amazing job of creating these unique identities for the handful of psychos stalking you in the asylum that it created this sense of realism I have not found in a game in a long time. I dodged this game for months thinking it would just be full of cheap jump scares, but it is not. It has a very detailed world to explore and a very solid story to unravel. It became apparent at some point that the developers were afraid the game was turning out to be too short and started stretching out the gameplay. This stretched gameplay is not bad quality, but serves to add a lot of question marks to your thought pattern when you reach them. My only real complaint would be the rare but over-used character models for the more common variants. Occasionally, I would come across a character that I would think was someone I had already encountered before, only to find out it was just another NPC using the same model, which would remind me that this is only a game quickly. Overall, this game scared its way into my favorite games list. Watching my little cousin jump so much during the first five minutes that I thought he was going to damage my system was worth the base price alone. I was sad to read that Whistleblower concludes the story.

Cursed MIDI file music prevents a perfect score. I never ran into a single issue. Well, maybe it would have been nice if I could set it to tell me to use the Triangle, Square, Circle, and X instead of B1, B2, B3, B4. But beggers cant be choosers, anyone playing this title most likely remembers the controls and if you don't, your going back in time too far.

Bought this when it was released but have not had a chance to try it until recently. Now the game just hangs up at a black screen whenever I try to start an episode and it seems this is a common problem that has popped up since 400 days. I played the game with absolutely zero problems before installing 400 days, and now I can't even refresh on the base story so I can play the new season because 400 days broke the game.

The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series8
Mar 18, 2014
Update: As of 3/6/2014 I tried to replay the game in order to refresh myself on the story so I could play the next one just released. Same exact install as my first playthrough, only this time with the 400days DLC. My game constantly hangs up on a black screen when I try to start the second season, and a lot of people are having this same issue on different seasons. Its pretty annoying and after a week or so trying to get it dealt with, I have no faith Telltale has any intention to fix it when they won't even acknowledge it. Original Review: This game is definitely all about the story. I would not mind if they took out most of the gameplay elements that did not involve exploring or communicating completely. For 25 bucks you get a 15 hour interactive movie that overall is quite impressive. The game had a few minor issues with animation, which in a game like this is annoying, but other than that was rather artistic and beautiful to watch. Overall, the gameplay portions of this game are terrible, they need to improve them or drop most of them completely, however the story is where the value is.

I played the more recent AC installments and then decided to go back and try this one. Starting at AC3 and then AC4, I was worried about trying the older ones and running into outdated mechanics that would ruin the gameplay for me. Luckily, that never happened. In fact, the older games taught me maneuvers and other things that AC3 and AC4 apparently expected me to already know. And after playing Edward Kenway, I didn't think I would much care for the oldschool assassins, but now I know why Ezio is still the poster assassin boy. He was a badass.

Firaxis or 2k, whoever is responsible for the pricetag of these expansions, NEEDS TO STOP THIS RIDICULOUSNESS! Considering the base game's price tag, and the fact that this is pathetically considered a "rich man's game," these expansions should be priced no more than 15 bucks. I bought this during a major sale and to be honest, thought it was quite boring at first. Every once in a while I would get in the mood to play it, would get a few hours into a match, and then end up quitting it or starting a new one. These games were never my type of game anyway... However, recently I picked the game back up and started a new match. This time, I managed to make it into the 1700s-1800s and found myself getting extremely into the game. After minding my own business for quite some time, Queen Elizabeth started spying on me and stole my technology! I mean, what a b****! I gave her luxury pearls for nothing when her kingdom needed it most! So I decided to go and confront her about it and she just blows me off! This is unacceptable! Let's see how she feels when her Prodestant missionaries show up in my Buddhist's Holy City **** then after I wiped her smug attitude off the continent, I took over the World Congress and enacted MY religion as the world religion! Shadow Warrior6
Dec 16, 2013
I am a huge fan of first person slasher games. I would list them all, but I don't think that is appropriate for this review. In any case, when I seen this swordplay game available for pre-order, it was a must-buy for me. The graphics are impressive, the dialogue is entertaining enough, Lo Wang and Hoji are both very likeable characters, and the epic large scale boss battles were quite well done. ...So why was I so rushed and eager to end the game? I felt like there was really little to do, that it was extremely linear, and that it had some of the most repetitive and monotonous combat I have played recently. I cannot deny the quality points of the game, but I expect a whole lot more depth from games I spend 40 bucks on. This game offers nothing other than moving from point A to point B while mindlessly hacking at hordes of similar enemies, and the combat is not even very impressive. I give this game a 7/10 for its decent performance at delivering a polished generic slasher game, but remove another point because of its lack of content for its price.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag9
Dec 16, 2013
This game loses a SINGLE point from me for its lack of PC optimization. As much as I enjoyed the Black Flag experience, I cannot ignore that. Ubisoft definitely needs to shift some focus towards making their games more enjoyable across a broader range of machines. Looking beyond the obvious optimization flaws for PC, everything else was phenomenal! AC4 carries over all the things that made the past titles a success, but it was the story of this installment that absolutely blew me away! However, I can't help but realize that if I did not have a prior knowledge of the Golden Age of Piracy, that I would not have been able to understand, or enjoy, the story as much as I did. For instance, several scenes seem to expect you to know what will happen next to someone considering the tone, even though the game never touches on it itself. I would have never known what happened to Stede Bonnet if it was not for my history class, and it added a lot of impact and drama to an otherwise uneventful moment. If you were already familiar with popular figures from the Golden Age of Piracy, like Teach, Rackham, Bonnet, Vane, Black Bart, and Anne Bonny, your going to be blown away by this re-imagining of their stories. Despite the enormous amount of entertainment I got out of this game, I definitely want to critique a few key points for the sake of future improvement; The Island that you consider home and can invest resources in to improve, Inagua, is just as useless and unrewarding as the Homestead feature from AC3. They need to do more with these places of interest; Spending 90% of the game on the high seas, it was extremely disappointing that the ship Haythem took at the beginning of AC3 was still more detailed than the Jackdaw. You cannot enter the inside of the ship, and the only recognizable and unique person in your crew is Adéwale from the upcoming DLC himself. It would have added much more depth to be able to have familiar faces on the ship to feel more connected to and protective of; And also, Kenway's Fleet. This trade/revenue system was similiar to the old ones, but tedious and boring compared to the trade system and assassins guild from AC3. Those were the 3 things I had really wanted more from in Black Flag; A more rewarding and innovative homestead feature; A better detailed crew and ship to sail with; And a less tedious Kenway's Fleet feature. ALSO: Multiplayer is still amazing to play in this installment. AC Multiplayer is an incredible and unique experience that too many AC players overlook.

XCOM: Enemy Within Expansion5
Nov 18, 2013
Enemy Within takes an already amazing game (Enemy Unknown), and adds a new class, some new maps and new enemies. That is pretty much it. Literally. Same campaign, story, characters and everything else as the original. "Back in my day," we called this a PLUG-IN. It is certainly not a DLC or expansion by any modern use of the words. I had fun playing Enemy Within, just as much fun as I did Enemy Unknown, and that is the problem. I believe this entire DLC is very misleading and anyone who beat Unknown already is going to be as confused as me when they find themselves just playing the same exact game as before. I liked Enemy Unknown enormously and gave it a 10/10, but that did not give them the right to think they could resell me the exact same experience at a whopping 30 bucks. "Oh you want a Mech in your XCOM game? We will add it as a new class, and then resell you the entire game with a new subtitle." 100% Genuine Real Authentic Firaxis Employee Quote Its a great game and fun experience, but If you played Unknown, you have already played Within.

Batman: Arkham Origins8
Nov 18, 2013
To get it out of the way: I had fun playing Origins. Keep in mind that Arkham City raised the bar to an excessively high level, and that even Rocksteady themselves most likely would not have been able to reproduce that caliber of experience again. Hands down, the game was not as good as City, but was still a great game and mainly suffers because of the comparisons. It is extremely difficult for me to fairly judge a game when I am biased and comparing it to an earlier version. All I find myself really wanting to do is bash Origins for everything that keeps it from exceeding the caliber of City, but no matter how much I criticize Origins for its lack thereof...again...I still had a lot of fun playing it. Joker's performance is one of my favorite interpretations of the character. However, one flaw I would like to point out is that Origins is significantly less optimized than City with horrendous framerate drops during cutscenes, and also that the game was released with a few bugs that have since then been mostly dealt with. I gave Arkham City a 10/10, and Origins is still a great game to play but loses points for poor optimization and a few minor bugs that keep it from being perfect. ADDITION: THE MULTIPLAYER! The multiplayer of this game is amazing and a true "diamond in the rough" type game. Just like the Assassins Creed's Multiplayer, it is extremely underrated, unique and innovative. Do not overlook the multiplayer if you own the game, it is worth the unique experience.

In a nutshell, this is "GTA Jr." Instead of a city setting, it takes place at a large school campus. Instead of controlling a thug or gangster, you play a troubled teen. Instead of rival gangs, you have rival "cliques" like the jocks, nerds, preps, bullies, and greasers. Police presence is replaced by campus security and faculty, and cars are replaced by bikes, skateboards, and mopeds. Rockstar did an amazing job turning this into an amazing alternative to their GTA genre. I hope to see more of Jimmy Hopkins.

Dead Island: Ryder White5
Oct 29, 2013
The Ryder White DLC is basically what Dead Island would have been like if it were a normal modernized linear shooter instead of an open world slasher. Or just what Dead Island would have been like if you stripped all of its unique qualities away. When playing as Ryder White you no longer gain experience or have any sort of access to a skill tree. The linear level designs are packed with ammo and there is very little need to ever use melee combat. The entire experience was around 5 hours long, and included a plot twist involving how Ryder communicated with the original crew in Dead Island that I felt was absolutely terrible and destroyed any redeeming factor I could have found in playing the DLC. If your a fan of the homogenized linear shooters, then you may actually like this DLC. ALSO: This DLC counts towards the progress of challenges in the game, however, if you complete a challenge while playing as Ryder White, that experience reward is discarded since Ryder does not acquire EXP. This is a great way to screw yourself out of a ton of exp for your co-op characters!

Omerta: City of Gangsters6
Oct 28, 2013
Originally I gave this game a 3/10, stating how I felt that, "Each mission is a series of repetitive tasks, simple as that. While you perform these tasks they will try to piece in little bits of story and nothing really ever changes from board to board." And then I finished the review by stating, "Now I will not say this game is absolute junk, but for the price I paid, I was expecting something much more impressive, or at the very least slightly impressive." Now, those complaints still persist with me. This game's "takeover" gameplay is extremely tedious, imo, and I still feel that this is an overpriced game for its content. However, giving the game a second chance after its free update, I found myself enjoying the game much more. The strategic combat, story and theme are all pretty refreshing and earn the game a higher score than 3/10. Specific Cons: Missions and map takeover becomes extremely tedious and drawn out. Game is overpriced. Would be a 8/10 if it were approximately 20 bucks.

How to Survive6
Oct 28, 2013
Quick Review: Cons: Lame combat system, effects, and a laughably horrible animation quality. Since you spend 90% of the game hacking a path through crowds of zombies, they could have dramatically increased the quality of the game if they would have given much needed attention to simple things like the melee swing animation. Pros: Kovac; He adds much needed personality and humor to the game. The environment is creative and worthy of exploration even if there were not a plethora of lootable items to scavenge as incentive to do so. At only 4-5 hours to complete the campaign, this game is overpriced at 15 dollars. Though intuitive in concept, this game fails to deliver anything that is actually new, and does not get in depth enough to really let players feel like they were learning "How to Survive." If this game were priced more adequately to its content, I would have given it at least an 8/10.

I am definitely not a large fan of this game. It is not a terrible dungeon crawler, but the energy system and microtransactions required to play for longer than a short amount of time per day is ridiculous. Sep 13, 2013
Sleeping Dogs is a fresh take on the GTA genre with an asian theme. True to its Chinese setting, the game focuses much more on melee combat than it does gun-play, with China having some of the strictest gun laws in the world. Excellent mechanics, graphics, characters, world, and most of all, story. The base price is now only 25 bucks so the content is worth the price, but the release price of 50 bucks was overpriced. Loses a point for terribly excessive DLC packs. Game companies need to stop cutting so much content from the base game to make DLCs, its not just Square. And also loses a point for lack of depth and content. The game was polished and well detailed, but still lacks the ample amount of world distractions to do that earlier games of this genre used to have.

Ravaged: Zombie Apocalypse1
Aug 28, 2013
Lets not fall for shady marketing tricks, because that is exactly what this is. This game is the same exact Ravaged it was several months ago, only now with some enemy bots and some new maps. How does this give the company the ability to pretend this is a completely new release, or reboot, of the game. Everything that people say about the game in the original Ravaged reviews, still applies to this game. This attempt at a fake reboot, to rename the game and stamp a new release date on it, was an intentionally misleading practice. Instead of including the new content as DLC or a general update, they just decided that since Ravaged was doing badly that they would add a few new maps, stamp a zombie title on the game, and then sell it as a entirely different game to a new demographic: the masses of zombie fans. (Which this game actually still has very little to do with zombies.) That aside, I gave Ravaged originally a 2/10 because despite being a physically attractive game, with beautifully crafted maps and models, it feels like PURE WRONG. Nothing feels right. Mechanics are clunky and combat feels horrific, technical issues plague the game, and the developers spend more time trying to coax forum posters into believing they are working on problems they had not even been aware of than actually working on the game. They took that attractive world they attempted to make and plastered zombie guts on it. Now it has nothing. Look at your "new" game's score, 2Dawn. Worse than before because you tried to mislead gamers. Still think this was a clever idea???

Saints Row IV8
Aug 28, 2013
I went into this game extremely skeptical. I heard it was originally supposed to be DLC, and was not amused by the fact that this was built directly from Saints Row 3. I was also just as nervous to see how far they would push the ridiculous factor as anybody else returning to the series was. Despite all that, lets just get it out of the way: I had tons of fun playing the game. The Saints Row crew really know how to deliver their story and make things feel epic when they want to. The Matrix theme opened up a lot of opportunities to explore things I have never seen done with a game, and it all felt really good. Being as skeptical as I was coming in, it took me a few hours into the game to decide I was actually really having fun and then became genuinely immersed in the game. The oldschool game puns are hilarious. Now, the game did have a few flaws; Superpowers require practice and some upgrading before they feel fluid; Distractions and other optional tasks such as takeovers, Professor Genki missions, races, or other challenges are now connected with sidequests, meaning if you stop completing missions to do optional tasks in the world, you will get ahead of objectives and could miss out on some character and mission dialogue, if that is even important to you; But the biggest thing I could complain about is the amount of content for the price. I beat the game at 40 hours and am nearly at 100% completion. I bled the game dry. There is replay value here but if I could have squeezed 10 more hours out of gameplay, I would have been completely satisfied with the bang for my buck. However, as of right now, this game has itself set up for the greatest DLC content we may have ever seen. There are so many possibilities and directions the game could take with this new outrageous matrix simulation theme. I really, really hope that they take advantage of it and put out some amazing DLC. I heavily enjoyed this game and am looking forward to more. Removed a few points for the 50 dollar price tag vs. content. Since this game was built directly from the older game that I was able to put 80 hours into, there is unfortunately no excuse that they could not stuff in more content. Other than that, great experience.

BioShock Infinite: Clash in the Clouds8
Aug 28, 2013
This is not exactly the kind of content I would think most Bioshock fans would want, nor myself, and that is why I am not shocked about the negative reviews. But I cannot deny that for 5 bucks they offered up a decent experience. If this was a stand-alone game without the Bioshock tag, it would be a huge hit, a 10/10 for its price. But its not. It is DLC for another game with a base price of 40 bucks, and the people who purchased Bioshock were not expecting content of this kind. So if I were to rate this purely off content and gameplay over the price it would be a 10/10, but I am considering the fact that this was included in the season pass, and had a lot of people thought that the season pass would contain an arena/horde mode, they probably would not have bought it. I definitely did not personally expect this kind of content from a Bioshock game when I dropped 20 bucks for the season pass. Despite the decent experience, I have been unable to figure out any possible way of resetting the progress of the DLC which is just annoying since I made a few experimental choices when first starting, and cant undo them. Slashed a point for creating content as part of the season pass that they should have known Bioshock fans would not find very desirable, and a point for making it impossible to reset your progress without altering game files, which if you have Steam is against tos.

Payday 28
Aug 26, 2013
Review from a Payday: The Heist fan: Payday 2 indeed took the original gameplay from the first game and expanded on it. I gave PD1 a 9/10 and said: "The only reason I do not give this game a perfect score is because, regardless of how good it is, it could have been better. I would like to have seen more content in the game, and could come up with a huge list of easily implemented ideas that would have heavily deepened the game-play." Overkill certainly deepened the gameplay, however, it lost something in exchange for what it gained. They drastically changed several different mechanics, whether it be gunplay, character motion, or depth of field gfx effects, and though arguably all are improvements, combined together they create a feel that is drastically foreign from the feel PD1 gave. Regardless, those are all things that you can eventually get past and adapt to the new feel. They improved and expanded on many mechanics from the original game like customization and deployables. However, Payday 2 introduced, in my opinion, a few horrendous flaws to the game. First and foremost is ****. Without getting overly detailed, though **** was an amazing and intuitive idea in theory, it has been a complete nightmare in practice. **** needs to be replaced or drastically reworked. It is not doing what it was intended to do. Second is the completely random number generated loot system. You have absolutely no control over what you receive as a reward for completing jobs. This just results in many players, including myself, getting extremely frustrated after a few days. All I want is an extended magazine for my .45 and after over 50 hours of play, I have over 15 million in spending cash and not a single thing I wanted to use it on. Because of these two simple things, I have been finding myself playing other games instead of PD2. I don't want to deal with the tediousness of **** in order to play a match, and I don't want have to continuously gamble on my bad luck for an item I have no power or control over getting. I heavily look forward to being able to edit this review after they change **** and make small adjustments to the loot system. The game is amazing, but offers some tedious irritations because of **** and completely random loot.

This game stands to be 1 of 3 games I reviewed without finishing. This game is by far the WORST port I have ever seen. Not just in the control and menu scheme, which feels like awful, but in the graphics optimization. I run games like Farcry 3, Battlefield 3 and Skyrim on maxed out settings but can't run this game at reasonable frames on the lowest and ugliest settings. The performance of this port is not just unacceptable, it's actually rather painful. If this game was rated purely on its port quality, the developers would be on the same level as Stellar Stone...Yeah, I said it.

I just recently purchased this for nostalgia purposes and didn't even really think I could get back into the game after all this time. Well, I did. It feels good to be reminded that a great rpg just needs a great story. Its amusing to see how dated the graphics are, yet how intuitive the story telling techniques were. FF7 manages to tell a phenomenal story that is much better than most of the RPG's out nowadays that use the most advanced graphics, motion cap, and facial expressions to help deliver their story. The only reason I cannot give this game a 10/10, like I would it's PlayStation predecessor, is because of the smaller MIDI music files. It is rather minor at first, but certain songs from the game, such as Sephiroth's theme, were dramatically altered by the cheap quality and sound nothing like the original, which takes away from the original experience or mood the game had given.

Metro: Last Light - Faction Pack10
Aug 16, 2013
The meat behind this DLC, the **** mission, is phenomenal. The most criticized element of Metro has always been it's linear gameplay. This **** Mission addresses exactly that and gives us Metro fans an opportunity to explore and endure the dangers of the metro universe at our own freewill. It takes the Linear experience that Metro offers and gives you an amazing, yet condensed, sandbox version. For 5 bucks, this experience is amazing, and is a must buy for anyone who owns Metro LL and always wondered what it would like to be able to explore the tunnels without a mandatory guide. This DLC also throws in 2 other missions that were not in depth enough, or large enough, to release alone. I feel like they are just bonus content with them being a mere linear stealth mission and the other a heavy artillery horde defense mission. I feel that these two missions have brought the DLC a lot of negative attention and that if they would not have been included as extra content, in what is really a 5 dollar Metro sandbox experience, that the DLC would have received more positive reviews. 10/10 from me. **** makes the heart of this DLC and is more than worthy of 5 bucks. I am not going to rate the DLC down just because it gave us two extra bonus missions of less than superior quality.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger9

Great game with great story telling and excellent visuals. This game took my breathe away with its scenery. I was constantly checking my CPU temp wondering why this game ran so smoothly when it looks so gorgeous. I cant stress enough how well done the environment was designed, and how shocked I am at how little resources it needs to run it. Actual gameplay is linear and frankly, basic. But this game brings a lot of individualism to the table. The storytelling and artistic elements are what make this game a quality title. There are also a lot of genuine wild west references, so western fans will get a huge kick out of this game. Overall, this game offers nothing new or intuitive in terms of gameplay, but has some amazing storytelling, beautiful and high quality graphics, and a lot of good humor. At a base price of 15 bucks, this game is a worthy buy for any fps fan.

Metro: Last Light8
Jul 19, 2013
I can practically cut and paste my Metro 2033 review into this games review. Metro: Last Light more than makes up for its linear gameplay by making the world extremely rich and detailed. However, I felt at times that the game was even more "on rails" than the original. The game is a quality title, but I could not help but find myself irritated by the EXCESSIVE reuse of models and voices. And they are the same models and voices from the first game, so returning players will know what I mean immediately. They reuse the same male child model for every single kid in the metro and they did it again this game. Same voice, same face, on ****. Now to top it off; the alien children in the game, share the SAME...EXACT...VOICE. Inexcusable. Game loses points for excessive reuse of models and voices, even ones from the FIRST game, as well as the fact that the story was not as deep and intriguing as the original, feeling like it had been written strictly for the purposes of creating a sequel for the game.

The Binding of Isaac8

The best words to sum up this game would be "omg" and "wtf." The opening video for the game is worth half the base price alone. Really funny random humor. The gameplay is hard as hell, and I rarely make it past the first stage, but the game is designed to play in an arcade type fashion so I can accept the unforgiving difficulty. Great indie game. Must buy for an indie fan.

Awesome Indie game! I loved the theme and story of this game, they were really well done. They could not have done any better at creating an old school/retro feel to the game. The gameplay/combat is basically "trial and error." It can be challenging at first, because it is extremely unique, but it grows on you. This has become my go-to game when I don't have a lot of time but need to be violent for a few minutes. I want so badly to give this game a 10/10. But at a base price of 10 bucks, I have to chop a point off for lack of content vs. price.

Dead Island8

If you like zombies you can't go wrong. The survival horror feel of this game may possibly be the best I ever experienced. Smashing your way through zombies in first person with baseball bats and machetes just feels great. Some moments of the game are really intense and really made me feel that zombie survival couldn't be done any better than this game did it. Though this game does not shine in places like story or characters, it does not need to. The world and gameplay make up for it. My biggest complaint about this game is a serious issue with the throwing mechanic. If you do not play Logan, who specializes in throwing skills, you may never notice this at all. But occasionally, thrown weapons glitch out and vanish. After 60+ hours in the game, and spending my entire savings on fully upgraded and modded new weapons only to have them both vanish within 2 minutes of leaving town I rage quit for a few months.

This game is exactly what it tells you it is. Watch the video before you buy. I picked it up for 1 dollar on Steam and am really glad I did. Though the game may not leave me with my sides splitting, it is packed with the most random and unpredictable humor ever. Trial and error point and click game. Just click on different combinations of people and objects until you finally figure out what saves they day. It is a humorous take on the old MacGuyver television series; the guy who will do things like use a toothpick, safety pin and stick of bubble gum to blow the 20,000 pound vault doors off an exitway. Due to the 5 dollar base price tag the game is slightly overpriced compared with content and playtime, so I hack a couple points off for that.

Killing Floor9
Jul 19, 2013
For a long time I had overlooked and scrolled past this game. It seemed like a simple, shallow, generic co-op shooter. Well, it is not. I can't even remember how it finally caught my attention, but I bought it and heavily regret I neglected this game. This survival co-op game provides a variety of different fun playstyles and has a huge selection of quality maps, most of which were created and selected by the community. The co-op element of this game is strong and well developed. Games like L4D2 promote teamwork by using cheap tactics from "special enemies" that completely disable a player, forcing them to be rescued or die. Killing Floor encourages players to work together through sheer enemy numbers and the necessity to have someone watch your back. You DO NOT want to be caught by a flesh pounder alone, not because he is cheap and will disable you, but because he is a complete badass. This is also just really good game design: the leveling/progression system is balanced and gives players an edge but is not a replacement for skill, the weapons are all viable although some are better than others especially when regarding classes, and waves/difficulty is adjusted to the amount of players in the map giving anyone the option to play with as many people as they want without ruining gameplay. I just got started at this 4 year old game and have sunk more hours into it than a large majority of the newer games that have been released. This game has a lot of playtime value for its buck. My only real complaint would be about the dated feel to the menu and match browsing feature. It almost feels...retro. But once your in game you forget about it.

Combat Arms1
Jul 19, 2013
Combat Arms itself plays great. Fluid gunplay and clever map design. It is even an extremely low resource game and can be played on extremely dated machines. If I were to rate purely off the game itself, I would give this game at least an 8/10. However, Nexon is one of the worst game companies I have ever dealt with. The game is designed to be COMPLETELY PAY 2 WIN. You will not enjoy this game or have any sort of selection without paying some money for TEMPORARY items (1 day, 7day, 30day). And it is all grossly overpriced. This system is the model example of Pay 2 Win. Combat Arms has a terrible company that designed the game in an exploitative market type fashion. Its really a shame because, like I said, the game itself is not bad. The reason I give the game such a low score is because the nature of the game gets you heavily involved with a horrible company. You cannot play Combat Arms without having to deal with Nexon's absurdity in some way. Nexon is the model example of a terrible gaming company. Play at your own risk.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown10
Jun 6, 2013
This is the first strategy based game I have been able to enjoy in years. For those complaining about the game not being enough like the original; I dont understand it. This is, imo, the perfect modern incarnate of the old XCOM. We are talking about an 18 year gap between games, it needed the change and they did it very well. This game has extremely intuitive features and excellent story and gameplay for a strategy game. I felt involved and driven by the story, and I felt connected to and protective of my soldiers. Good character customization and development. The only complaint I can give about this game is that although you can change the skin color and general ethnicity of your characters, you cannot change their nationality and flag. Even though you can change a character from white, to Asian, to Mexican, to African, you cannot change the country he belongs to from, for example, Brazil. They say in the forums it is a prejudiced thing, but I believe the power to change skin color contradicts that claim horribly. This just seriously hinders the amazingly fun ability to create teams of your own imagination. Such as a team of you and your friends, however your best friend Tommy has to be from China, and your brother Chuck was secretly born over the border in Mexico. However, the game is an extremely solid 10 for a strategy game. I have never played one more interesting than this one. I must confess before I wrap up that this game possibly gets extra points from me purely based off the fun factor I experienced. It was just fun.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood7
Jun 3, 2013
This game has some amazing scenery for a low budget 2009 game. The rich world environment is where I feel the game excelled the most. There is very little to complain about with this game, however, if I had to it would be about the lack of a melee attack when your enemies and comrades perform them with ease throughout the game. I was skeptical about the quality of the story at first, but by the end of the game I had felt like it was a great performance overall. I was never amazed by any feature or aspect of this game, but never at any time was I disappointed or bored either. Though this game fails to deliver an epic experience, it is by no means an unworthy one. In the end, Bound in Blood is an extremely solid title sitting at a base price of only $9.99. Any gamer should be able to enjoy this game at its price, but this is a must-buy if your a western fan. Do to the amount of content, taking only 6 hours to beat the campaign, I cannot rate this game higher than a 7/10, but for its price it is a worthy title.

Ravaged2
Jun 2, 2013
This game appealed to me in various ways. I am a huge fan of the post-apocalyptic theme and competitive shooters. The map environments are well detailed and are interesting to explore. However, this game just feels awful. The controls and gunplay are extremely awkward. Besides the fact that the game just feels wrong, there is also absolutely NO playerbase to mention. At any given time I can log in and fine anywhere from 1-15 people playing. Also, the START match button on the menu has been broken for months and the developers have done nothing except tell you to use the browse feature instead. This game also frequently crashes on me. Overall, this game really has no unique or interesting value to it. It is a very weak developed shooter with lots of broken features and no playerbase. If the developers of Ravaged could at least take the time to fix a major bug present at the main menu, maybe I wouldn't rate the game as low as I am. But as of right now, Ravaged is by far one of the worst games I have purchased, ever.

God Mode5

Addition: I am going to leave the rest of the review as I originally wrote it, but I needed to add that Atlus has completely abandoned this game and the playerbase as of now. They have given absolutely no response to the community since Apr 26th, and players are extremely pissed and raising hell in the Steam forums. First of all, despite my rating and complaints, I am having a blast playing this game. However, a few simple things keep this game from being amazing regardless of its price. Most of all is the matchmaking system, the queue times get extremely tedious way too fast. Second is the completely ridiculous fact that you get booted from a match if/when your last partner decides to leave. This is ridiculous, happens way too often, and will be the reason I stop playing God Mode. That being said, the very simple gameplay winds up being extraordinarily fun, they added some really intuitive touches to the arena style matches that make them unique. I also really like the "Oaths" system that allows you to handicap yourself for greater potential reward. Overall, for a 10 dollar game, this game could be a 9/10 if it fixed the two major issues involving co-op matches and matchmaking queues. It is just too important and annoying in a 100% co-op style game like this. I would also like to see much more customization and equipment options. I am disappointed in the lack of selection. Even for 10 bucks, these things need to be addressed in order to be a worthy rated game.

APB: Reloaded8
May 28, 2013
My personal favorite F2P mmo. It gives you the competitive shooter play style without the in between match menus. Matches start and flow freely through the world and in between you can explore, play mini games, or otherwise. A refreshing change from, Click Start, Shoot, Die, back to menu. I feel shooters need to do away with menu systems and follow apb's dynamic world style. This game also features the most extensive personal customization I have ever seen in a game. You can alter nearly every and any aspect of your characters appearance. But this is not limited to your individual character; you can also heavily customize vehicles that you can speed through the city with, clothing that you can sell to other players and start your own fashion business with, personal emblems that you can spray-paint allover the city for people to see, and even customize the paint on your guns. Another feature that is amazing in this game is the voice communication features. The VOIP in game works in such a way that you can hear conversations people are having close by, leading to alot of hilarious scenes. You can be standing in the street and listen to players driving by argue amongst each-other over the results of their last match. That doesn't mean the game is not without flaws. Server lag can get frustrating, micro transactions are overpriced, and you will frequently question the validity of someones skill.…
