Wow, talk about a fun ride from start to finish. The LEGO Batman Movie managed to make one of the most interesting and refreshing incarnations of the Batman character to date. If you're a hardcore fan of the character, a number of easter eggs and satirical humor revolving around the history of Batman will have you laughing out loud constantly. I found myself laughing minutes into the next scene after a number of gut busting one liner that never seemed to end. While the pacing did drag in the toward the end of the second act, I had a smile on my face throughout making this one of my favorites of the year so far.

Tom Halland is excellent as Spider-Man as well as Michael Keaton as The Vulture, giving us one of the most memorable MCU villains to date. While I thought the movie was charming and fun, I never found myself truly invested in the movie until the third act started. From that point on, I was in it until the end. But to me, this did feel like an MCU Spider-Man Movie. It never had that Raimi sense of urgency, especially in the action sequences. However, this is by far the best Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man 2 and I would go to rank this as the third overall best Spider-Man to date.

While I do believe this is Nolan's best movie to date, it's not necessarily my favorite. This is an achievement in filmmaking, especially in today's world. Very little dialogue is spoken, little to no character development is given, and almost nothing is explained to the audience. Instead, he takes us through a story told visually in such a compelling and unique way. With Hans Zimmer's pounding score and a thunderous sound design, he transports us right in the event of Dunkirk that deservers to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

This is indeed the epic finally that this franchise earned, making it in my mind, a perfect film trilogy. This is the best of the franchise and what makes it so special is the anti-blockbuster feel. This is 100% slow burn a drama that is purely character given. The special efforts are jaw dropping, the cinematography gorgeous, the music elevates each scene, and Andy Serkis once again delivers on one of the best performances of the entire year.

This might actually be the worst movie I have ever sat through in my life. This is just a product, solely made to make money. You can tell that the filmmakers didn't care about the quality of the movie. It's lazy, formulaic, lacks any kind of tension and just comes off as visual noise. I hate this movie. I hate everything about this movie. The convoluted plot, the atrocious dialogue, bland acting and a jarring aspect ratio made this agonizing to get through.

I didn't love this movie like I wanted to, but it's still a very good time at the theaters. James Gunn does a strong job with the characters here. Giving them more depth and truly making this a character driven film. But with that we also get a much more disjointed and sometimes choppy flow to the narrative. While not every plot line worked or some material felt recycled from the first film with a massive disappointment in the soundtrack department, Guardians 2 remains to be one of the better sequels released in the past couple of years and I'm excited to see where Gunn takes the characters next.

Fast 8 still retains the ridiculous fun and absurdity that the series is known for at this point. But despite some excellent set pieces, this doesn't quite have the same charm that's made the past few so good. And a major reason for that is the absence of Paul Walker. The interactions between the cast members doesn't feel the same without him and it did hurt my enjoyment of the film as a whole. Despite some standout moments between Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, it feels like a mostly recycled film that is beginning to run out of ideas.

However, I never found myself thinking that this film needed to be made and nothing about it really built on the existing mythology that enhanced it. Take the 2015 Cinderella, while it was a recreation of the original, the filmmakers made the characters stronger and built on the story to make it a more solid movie. That really isn't done here that's impactful to the story and in the end, it did just feel like a recreation **** movie.

And if this is truly Hugh Jackman's final time as Logan, what a day to go out. Ghostbusters is most controversial and the most talked about movie of the year (right up there with Batman v Superman), it's the most disliked trailer on YouTube and also features maybe the worst marketing I've ever witnessed for a film. Now I'm saying this now, the first 1984 film is one of my all time favorite comedies and films in general, I love the first film and going into this I was really hoping it was going to be a good movie. So what's the result? Is this a good film? Not necessarily. The first half of the film is stronger than the second, it has the worst villain of the year and the constant cameos and references to the old film got really old really fast. But that being said, I was entertained throughout the course of the film. To my surprise, I found myself laughing throughout the course of the film (mostly through Mckinnon, Jones and surprising from a great comedic performance by Hemsworth who's fantastic). I also found that the four Ghostbusters all had a few great individual moments at one point or another and had really good chemistry as well.
