Ryan Gosling in a physical action-comedy? Whoever thought of the idea should be crowned genius of the year. With dynamite timing and uproarious gestures, Gosling mines his diverse abilities and becomes a blast in The Nice Guys.

The Nice Guys spends nearly two hours treating Crowe and Gosling like a pair of piñatas, beating them mercilessly and unapologetically, and it’s watching them crawl out from underneath and towards some form of redemption that makes the film a genuine smash.

The Nice Guys has got a great story which is set in the 70s and it's about these two hitmen trying to find the whereabouts of this lass who was a big pornstar. Also, the movie's got some great acting from all the cast, especially Holland March (Ryan Gosling) and Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) they've got some great chemistry together on set. Finally, the movie's got a lot of action scenes throughout and they are very clever and the movie's even got some funny scenes throughout, which had me dying of laughter. Also, this movie has got some god damn smooth camera work which I noticed and it's even got some beautiful cinematography throughout from Philippe Rousselot. Overall, the movie's got very well developed characters and the characters are enjoyable throughout. The movie's even got lots of action, lots of funny moments, great cinematography and a great 70s soundtrack which I loved from start to finish, it's honestly worth the watch.

While the characters are distinctive and charming, and the dialogue is often pretty funny, The Nice Guys is a large step down on the ambition scale from Kiss Kiss. Having deconstructed his favorite genre so perfectly, Black has a harder time reconstructing it without leaving out some pieces.

The characters in The Nice Guys often ask each other if they’re good or bad, a choice the movie doesn’t want to force the audience to make. Instead it settles for making good on the title, occupying the nice, mushy middle — perhaps unfocused and off-balance at times, but conveying a sense of buoyancy that’s as cheerfully contagious as it is freewheeling.

I love this movie, when Shane Black is on, he’s on. Kiss kiss bang bang is one of my favorite movies of all time and Nice guys captures everything I love about KKBB. Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe are awesome in their roles and Angourie Rice kills it as the daughter.

The movie is a mess. A few good sight gags. A fragile plot falls apart midway and there seems nothing left to do but improvise some gratuitous violence and find a way to end the thing. Terrible waste of acting talent. One has the feeling that Russell Crowe couldn't care less and Gosling the same. Script is incoherent. Do avoid at all costs.
