Gothic 1 Remake9

This game is really a slap in your face, a game that tells you wake up man you're not playing the usual game that holds your hand, i'm bringing you something that will knock you off ! Here you gonna start a rookie and die a lot, struggle and fall on every step, so get prepared to get back up, learn how to improve and find your way through all by yourself ! It's almost like a real life fantasy rpg simulator on a world you don't know, and you know what ? It's **** awesome !!! See souls game ? No map, no explanation, try hard and succeed ?! Gothic came on 2001, and that's the masterpiece that inspired not only Miyazaki cause Gothic has quite a lot more meat on its bones. There are so many incredible conception details in this game that had been created for the sake of making it an outstanding and unforgettable experience especially to many hardcore gamers ! Which also means it's not for everyone, only for those who want a real immersive medieval fantasy experience in a dynamic living world with an amazing progression system and an incredible quests structure, all in all one of the best and historical rpg of all time.

A little bit disappointed about this last one, of course it is graphically impressive and of course there are moments which are quite scary and unsettling, not to forget the first area in the care center facility and later in a wasteland racoon city which for me were the most enjoyable parts of the game, but beside that it turned out the whole experience fell definitely flat.. Not too many great puzzles i would say, not too many amazing moments or unforgettable game sections, i wasn't really blown nor even carried away by many memorable moments, this game didn’t feel special all along, only occasionaly, which in my point of view doesnt make a game great, only averagely good. I couldn't give the game a 7,5 but i didn't consider it deserved an 8, so i sticked to the 7

A great game with great idea but mainly a huge open world that brings you a lot of fun discovering and exploring expecially without holding your hand and that's amazing on its own. Beautiful graphics, nice sound score, hooking story, fun puzzles, etc. There's a big catch though and that's with its gameplay, it's definitely not where the game shines at all. There's a lot of complicated mechanics that need much time before getting the hang of, and even after many hours we tend to confound controller buttons. Combats are very frustrating and all those weapons wearing down so quickly are tedious, moreover there's no real level up management, no deep character progression and equipment system is blatantly simple, menu are also not that clear to go through.
The game itself is amazing but when it comes to these flaws i talked about it's far from perfect and to me clearly overhyped for what it does offers in its entirety.

Best souls adaptation so far in terms of emulating all single peculiar part of what makes this genre unique and so great, in other words it's a game with a full from software's DNA. Gameplay and equipment managment is bloodborne's with same high quality level, on par we have different weapons and movesets, different mobs for each new area explored with varying difficulties randomly spread all around, readable enemy patterns, amazing bosses, etc. Graphics are not insane (and nor fromsoftwares games' are) but grim environment design coupled with a gripping sound and music score it makes you feel the anguish of the uglishly grim and dark environment you're painfully journeying in. Landscapes, if not having the same artistic design of a From software, remain something inspired and really beautiful to look at. Level design is the best i've seen in any other souls like, maybe here sometimes more confusing due to some huger area, but that depends on anyone's liking. You'll have usual blocked doors, paths and lifts to unblock and open relative shortcuts, some will also reconnect previous explored areas like in the first dark souls, you'll also have to discover hidden paths and bosses. Here too you'll die constantly and learn from your mistakes, bosses are no friendly pal, at all ! So basically if you're looking for a souls like at its pure core concept this is definitely the game to play.

Good game, not impressive nor revolutionary, same dynamics seen with god of war, alan wake, uncharted and the likes, you follow the stories, beat up enemies (not much diversity), solve simple puzzles and watch cutscenes, there are also many nice side missions. This games is straightforward though, can be entertaining for many liking this kind of structure although i might admit the gameplay was disappointing, they could have done much better and i would say this is the weakest part of the game. it's a good game just not that challenging and compelling.

I honestly don't understand players reaction on STEAM depicting the game as too hard.. Well this is the umpteenth From Software game and all players able to access the DLC have already reached a high level on the original game so what's the matter here guys ?! You forgot this game is challenging ?! Cause after personally being gone through it I can state there's no such difference between base game and DLC when it comes to difficulty, same exact hassle against bosses as well as throughout each single area. Seems like playing other games in two years made players accustomed to a lower difficulty and thereby intolerant to FromSoft standard... What the heck !
This said this DLC is in my point of view the simple continuity of the original game but with some more verticality, all praises already declaimed two years ago still stand, next step for the company would be to possibly improve online and coop play ? Being able to play it like a Sekiro game as well ? Or any other fancy and great idea Miazaki has been able to bring to this incredible software company. Finally, I must admit that it's a huge DLC, 40 bucks for such a big game while market proposes shorter game for 70... Let's say this is a great investment.

DD2 has the potential of a staggering open world dark fantasy RPG, let's say one of the best, but it has unfortunately fallen short of being all that. When it comes to my feeling throughout the whole experience what came out first, and most, was frustration ! You cannot run indefinitely (so uselessly annoying) no mount whatsoever, no fast travel (save with rare ferrystone), only oxcarts and... slow footwork... the idea to live your journey under real medieval conditions is great but might have been better balanced ! A hard game brings challenge and that's great but when a feeling of frustration overshadows the pleasure of playing because most of what you do is taking time without providing fun i think there's a problem. Gameplay is nice but can also be improved, many a time have I been killed because of the bad camera view or a grip problem while mounting a big foe.. That's technically unfair and also frustrating. Exploration is fantastic, so many different and beautiful locations with breathtaking views to discover, many winding paths, caves to explore but too many encounters for my taste. Bestiary is tiny, in my opinion more unique bosses should have been added instead of having us beating up always the same mobs again and again through the whole game. Some quests are a real pain in the ass, not much clues, solution is mainly found by wandering aimlessly around or keeping us waiting until it happens while in reality hints and information are to be found by talking to NPC or whatever else that might be fun ! Anyhow they should have definitely been better framed.
So, in short, really frustrating game but potentially awesome, which makes me conclude this game is incomplete, developers either thought it was enough, either lacked budget or simply didn't go to the end of their idea. Let's hope a DD3 comes out next with all needed improvements.
