The Last of Us Part II0
Jun 29, 2020
The truth of the matter is that this game is sanctimonious, destroys the characters of the first game, has immersion-breaking plot holes (in terms of character choices and actions) and is ultimately driven by ideology. This game almost seems designed to annoy and upset fans of the first game... it's tragic. Save yourself the money and skip this one. It's not worth it - especially with *that* garbage ending... worse than GoT season 8, TLJ or RoS - makes them look good, let's put it that way...

It's good. Very good - I'd recommend trying this. I would wait for a sale though. I cannot justify paying £50 for this.

Fallout 760
Nov 17, 2018
If this was made as a Fallout 4 mod by 2 people in a student flat, then this would be a good effort. But for £50 - this is taking the piss. Fallout 4 was a rubbish Fallout game, but a passable open-world shooter - this, on the other hand, is a travesty. It is an insult, not only to the legacy of the "Fallout" franchise but also to the consumer. Bethesda should recall this and issue a formal apology. This is as much as a cynical blatant cash-grab that I've ever had the misfortune to play. Now we know why this game wasn't on steam - the built-in refund feature. I hereby declare my boycott of Bethesda, effective immediately. Shame.

Very entertaining, I'm currently halfway through my first run (pacifist), and I'm enjoying the humourous writing and the 4th-wall-breaking moments. Entertaining, charming, and thought-provoking but the gameplay itself is definitely lacking.

Sid Meier's Civilization V9
Dec 7, 2017
Excellent turn-based strategy game - hands down the best purchase that I made in the steam autumn sale (in a bundle with all DLC for just £8.06). Already put 42+ hours into it in the last 2 weeks: to the potential detriment of my university grades...

Star Wars Battlefront II0
Nov 15, 2017
Star Wars: PAYMENTFRONT II was an instant refund for me. EA's practice has been downright shocking - I will never buy another EA game, and I will not buy any game that has microtransactions in. These practices are not okay. If I spend £40 on a brand new game, I expect it to be completed, and not trying to extort more of my hard earned cash out of me. I'd rather pay for Winrar.

Excellent first person shooter - one of the best games of 2016. Made the mistake of getting this game right in the middle of finals last year... hahaa... Seriously though. If you were bored out of your skull with FPS games in the last 7-10 years, you NEED to give DOOM a shot. Feels like home!

Best DLC of all time. Worth its value three times over as a stand alone game. Excellent quality from CD PROJEKT RED, as in the base-game - putting all other game developers to shame! Well done!

Fun WWII real-time strategy game, the pacing is a bit slow, but the mods make it incredibly fun! Not bought any of the DLC and am a bit disappointed by the lack of base-game minor country focus trees (literally only Poland). 7/10.

Injustice 28
Aug 31, 2017
Injustice 2 is the best fighting game that I've played in quite some time. It has a fun learning curve and a great roster of (fan favourite) characters - albeit missing a few. The main problems I have with it, albeit a minor issue, is that it is another fighting game with (overpriced) DLC characters and micro transactions. The saving grace is that the roster is so large to begin with that I have never felt the need to buy any of the DLC characters (as much as I'd love to make Starfire my main), and that the game is actually quite generous with its currency (apart from the one currency for unlocking alternate skins/colours - WHY HAVE 3 currencies?!?). Best "fandom" fighting game since Dragonball Z: Budokai 3 or JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain9

Best next-gen tactical stealth games. Easily. It is, however, not up to scratch when compared with the original MGS, MGS3, and MGS: PW. The nature of the story is flawed, but the gameplay more than makes up for it. Fantastic game in its own right.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare9
Apr 19, 2017
The game that introduced me to the competitive FPS scene. Brilliant game, great gunplay, and utterly groundbreaking for its time. This and Call of Duty: World at War, are the pinnacle of CoD. This franchise needs to go back to MW and WaW if it hopes to survive. The modern CoD games can't hold a candle to this one.

This game is trying very hard to hit "dem nostalgia 'n' retro feels", with a modern twist like undertale did. Doesn't work. At all. Boring game. Pathetic to beg for high review scores too.

Fallout 46
Apr 16, 2017
Right, now this is coming from someone who is a die-hard Fallout fan, and as someone who has spent well over 300 hours in Fallout 4: it's good, it's just not great. Unfortunately Fallout 4 has not toppled New Vegas as my favourite Fallout game. Pros: + Finally, the gunplay is up to scratch in a Fallout game. + Looks AMAZING (for a Fallout game, at least...). + Rich wasteland that isn't completely brown (F: NV) or green/grey (F3). + On the surface, there's a wide variety of interesting side-quests (few genuinely fantastic ones though). + Good crafting mechanics (weapons and armour). + It's more Fallout, and most importantly - it, for the most part, FEELS like a Fallout game. Cons: - Terrible story, full of plot holes. It irritates the hell out of me that player choice is so limited in the story - God awful DLC: I'm never buying a season pass again. Only 2 "story" DLCs?! 1 of which was awful (Nuka-World). Seriously, DO NOT BUY THE DLC - even "Far Harbor", is pretty flawed - I don't buy a Fallout game to get a settlement builder/simulator. - Lack of different ammo types and craftable ammo like in New Vegas. - Invincible NPCs (leads, again, to a lack of player choice). - Graphics, compared to any other game released at around the same time (see The Witcher 3), are poor. - Bugs and crashes up the wazoo (typical Bethesda - SAD). - Even though the gunplay is "good" for a fallout game, it is still lacking when compared to other first person shooters (or even other 3rd person shooters). - Voiced character completely kills role-playing, as does the limited (and often IDENTICAL) dialogue options. Often they lack any consequential results from any of your "choices". - Irritating companions. Especially **** PRESTON. TL;DR - feels like a cash grab. Good, not great, and I'm annoyed at myself for spending so much time in it.

Borderlands7
Apr 16, 2017
One of the first great games available on the PS3 (also owned it on PC). A solid mix of FPS and RPG features into a very funny package. Two major gripes: a god-awfully slow start (up to ~ level 20), and a terrible let down of an ending. That being said, the "new game+" mode, "True Vault Hunter Mode", which allows you to replay the game again with all your loot from your first play through, really brings this game to life! Great DLC too!!

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection8
Apr 16, 2017
For the price that the Handsome Collection is available for on PSN, this is a must own. Regularly on sale for ~£14-16 on the UK PSN, definitely get it! Even if it's only for Borderlands 2, a frankly 9.5/10 game on the last gen consoles (and PC). The remaster on the PS4 is gorgeous, and Borderlands 2 is just as much fun as it was. With all the DLC included this is an absolute bargain!! As for the Pre-Sequel... just don't play it. It's a disappointment compared to Borderlands 2. Or do, give it a shot, but I guarantee that you'll be returning to Borderlands 2 before long!!! TL;DR - Buy this for Borderlands 2, even if you've played it before, at ~£14-16, with all the DLC, its a bargain!

DEFCON: Everybody Dies9
Apr 13, 2017
A chilling and haunting depiction of global nuclear war from the perspective of the war room. It has a very "war games" feel and the minimalistic soundtrack of people crying after the apocalypse will leave you feeling cold, even after "winning", or should I say, losing less than your unfortunate opponent. Brilliant. Masterpiece.

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture2
Apr 13, 2017
This game is a pretentious walking simulator. It hides behind atmosphere and gorgeous graphics, but, ultimately the experience boils down to a glorified platinum trophy hunt. Slow walking speed is infuriating and the story is, well, predictable from the title. It's not good.

Grand Theft Auto V7
Apr 13, 2017
It's a big improvement over GTA IV in many aspects, graphics, scope, depth, shooting mechanics, driving.. etc. The only problem is, the story is so over the place, and the characters so unlikable, that I find myself preferring GTA IV (and its followup Story DLCs) over it. If you already had this game on PC, PS3 or XBox360, don't buy it again. The first person mode is clunky and not worth the price of re-admission.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt10
Apr 13, 2017
Brilliant game. Probably the best game I own on PS4. Would probably be a 10/10 game if it weren't for its basic and repetitive combat (even of Death March difficulty all you need to do is Quen up and you'll be fine). Gwent is amazing too!! Hands down the best game of 2015.

Steins;Gate 09
Apr 13, 2017
Okay, so I've still not fully 100%'d Steins;Gate 0 (PS4) at the time of writing this review, but the original Steins;Gate Visual Novel was and still is my favourite VN and anime of all time. Even only getting to the "BAD" ending so far, I've got to say that this Visual Novel is a MUST-BUY for any lover of Sci-Fi and especially any lover of the original VN/anime. It obviously doesn't have the punch that the first one does... but I may be swayed once I reach the full ending. 9/10 EASILY.

Steins;Gate10
Apr 13, 2017
10/10 perfect visual novel. Steins;Gate was, and still is, my favourite anime of all time, coupled with the movie ending I think it will end up being regarded as a modern classic in the coming years. How does the visual novel that inspired it all stack up then? It surpasses the anime leaps and bounds - a resounding triumph of visual novel storytelling. By giving you the freedom to fully explore all the other (lesser/bitter-sweet - to downright heartbreaking) story paths and endings, it makes the one true ending that much more impactful. If I could give it an 11/10 I would. BUY IT. A game WORTH 100%-ing. Seriously, do yourself a favour and FULLY explore it. It's beautiful.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven7
Apr 13, 2017
It's a fun JoJo game - crammed full of fanservice. I have to say though, that the combat in JJBA: All Star Battle (PS3) was a lot better (even if it did utilise stupid directional combos). The Story is alright (though I can't really say much about it as I played it in Japanese and ~50% of it went over my head), but it is essentially good and is fresh (something I can't say a lot about anime games tbh). Love the character roster, I just wish that the combat was more flushed out and utilised specific combos like Tekken, Street Fighter or Budokai games. Ohh well... 6.5/10 game rounded up to 7/10 because I'm a JoJo lover.

Fallout: New Vegas10
Apr 10, 2017
This game is far superior to Fallout 3 in every way. It has a better story, where your changes will affect the world, much more freedom to do as you please and the only thing letting it down is the graphics and combat. That being said- that didn't stop me putting 1200+ hours into New Vegas. The DLC too, are impeccable and all weave together to improve on the main story. 10/10 no question.

One of the first great games I had for my PS2. Brilliant fun, and, along with TS: Future Perfect, it was my childhood. I do have to say that if you are going to get a Timesplitters game now, go with Future Perfect. The aiming mechanic is much easier, and the same as most modern games!! 9/10

Star Wars Battlefront3
Apr 9, 2017
Lazy and incomplete. Typical EA cash grab. It looks gorgeous and sounds amazing, but at the end of the day, they knew that with all that fanservice a butt load of Star Wars fans (myself included) would jump right on board. Don't. It's a typical EA "pay $100+ for a season pass and game" to even get something that resembles a solid amount of content.

My first dive into the "souls-bourne" genre of games, and I've got to say. Wow. Colour me impressed! Great challenge, and a heck of a lot of fun! The story is rubbish but the combat is impeccable! Because of it I went out and got Bloodborne too! Definitely a great way to get into this genre of punishing games without having ridiculously slow combat!
