My steam review states: "Might be one of the worst games I have ever played." I hate it so incredibly much, I wish I hadn't spent the 12 hours playing this that I did.
I like Warhammer, I don't particularly like RTS games (even though I have played way too many). This hits a solid middle for me. It's basically just Age of Empires.
Classic boomer shooter. Better than 2 (I hate Serious Sam 2). Not too much else to say except for that I would recommend if you wanna get into some boomer shooter action.
One of my favorite games. Changed my opinion on "tank" controls entirely. The cinematic capability of video games was really showed off and I wish (sometimes) some mainstream developers would go back to tank controls and get cinematic.
I liked it. The problem arises with comparing this with the original Silent Hill. SH is much better. I don't like the horror as much in RE1 as compared to SH1. Not too much else to say.
I hated this game. I absolutely hated it. It stomps on any possible commentary on anything. It was not scary or interesting. The only cool parts were the cutscenes with Wesker, but surrounded by trash it was hard to get to.
Although it was a return to the Survival Horror genre after the garbage fire that was RE5 and 6, I can't say it appealed to me. RE1, 2, and 3, were much better.
I love the post-apocalyptic setting. One of my favorite movies is Snowpiercer and this allows me to live out my nightmares of somehow managing a city in the same apocalypse.
I love the world of The Witcher and have played through all of the games and even read a solid number of the books. This is what piqued my interest. Fun game although the combat is not the highlight.
The opening was quite difficult which is an issue.
The ending dragged **** the middle was incredible, I couldn't put it down.
I think it was awesome that most of the sidequests were the same quality (approximately) as the main story, some sidequests I couldn't even tell were sidequests, and in a market where we barely even get a finished game released, to say nothing about quality of story or sidequests, this was nice.
I picked this up with Divinity; Original Sin 2 to decide if I would like to buy Baldur's Gate 3, I wanted to see if the DND type of gameplay would interest me, and it did. I think I might pick up Baldur's Gate 3 in a little while. We will see if I play through the sequel first.
Played it when I was younger and I enjoyed it. Playing it again recently (September 2023) revealed some flaws, specifically that much of the game is very repetitive and very few of the characters are very memorable or compelling.
Absolute masterpiece. Not unexpected coming from the experienced hands of Larian Studios, but it's broad appeal was a blindside, hopefully signaling the growth of the genre.
Not too much to say. It's hard to go form the more recent and accessible entries in the genre like Disco Elysium or Divinity Original Sin to this, but once you get the hang of it, it showcases some early strengths.
Heart of Darkness/Apocalypse Now clone. I can see how important it is in the canon, but still didn't really enjoy it. I think it mirrors both Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness so well that it includes the clumsy commentary on imperialism and colonialism.
Builds on the strong points of the first game, but the addition of microtransactions tank the overall score. I bought this on release on XBOX and played it through in a week or so, but I remember being very disappointed in the presence of microtransactions. There was also a problem with the end-part of the game lasting forever. They fixed that and the microtransactions are mostly gone (if I remember correctly) but once again capitalism destroys the beauty of possible masterpieces.
Feels insanely good. I lost track of time playing this. The story tries to do things that it doesn't commit to, especially in terms of commentary about racism, colonialism/imperialism, racism, etc. They end up feeling hollow because of Rockstar's mistreatment of workers.
