Really liked the original game, good and bad it was fun to play. This new Immortal Syndicate is interesting if it worked perfectly. Generally, what happens when a syndicate encounter starts: massive latency, several thousand new textures are introduced all at once, frame rate is still high but I just get a massive lag spike, then I'm dead. More textures, more special abilities with amazing graphics .... great, except for the huge lag spike. So ignoring the occasional getting 1-timed by something off screen it is still a fun game. Endless hours of builds and such but really need this lag thing fixed to enjoy the new content. If they fix this 1 issue I would happily give this game at least an 8, but as it plays now, well the new content I have to avoid.

Game has serious optimization issues. The manufacturer has also added pauses to aid in slowing things down. Add in the occasional crash, and very common lock up. This game plays like a 40 hour baseball game; doesn't matter how much you like baseball, it's painful at best. Add to this some very weak dialogue and questionable game mechanics and it's like a late 80's game. After playing a previous version where I could be a pilot in a mech, why would anyone want to be a main character who is basically an npc ? How are people giving this a 10?

Visually not a bad game. Really bad port, controls are horrible, should have just left it as a console game, just a waste of time. Do NOT play this on a pc.

It was a good game, good concept with which they made a lot of interesting choices. Some of those choices were good and some not so. I had the PC version and while my PC is not high end it is pretty decent, certainly more than what was required to run. Unfortunately I had to run the game on very low settings with virtually every feature turned off and still had frame rates that often dipped below 10. Is this the fault of the developers to make something so demanding or me for not having the latest high end computer; errr no, just choices they made. Still some optimization would have been nice. I was not a fan of constant cut scenes, but that was a concept choice. I did not like that there were virtually no quests/contracts that were straight forward. Every single quest could not be completed because to do this quest you needed "A", but the person who had "A" would only give it to if you did something for them. To do that for that person you needed to do something else for someone else. Every single time, again and again and again and again and again and again. I am quite certain there is not a single npc that can use the toilet unassisted. How are they even alive when I suspect they need help breathing. There are a significant number of issues with quests which make them impossible to finish; which increases frustration with the quest issues. Ever had to give up your weapons and all of your abilities just to enter some area where you know you will have to fight enemies, well in this game you will. Trivial quests can take hours. Sometimes getting a lot of bread is just that, it is not an epic quest that takes days to complete, there has to some events that are not epic. This game is epic but it is rather like building the Sistine chapel and forgetting to put doors on it. Just because you build something that is so great you still need to get little things right. After playing this game for over 110 hours there are still many quests I did not start, partly because I was simply tired of the endless Brobdingnagian quests. It was a relief to finally finish this game. Furthermore, I find I have absolutely no desire to replay this game. The choices you make in the development of Geralt have little to no effect on how the game plays out, so why would I start over, it will just be the same. I found the class, Witcher, was trivial. Anyone who used any weapon could have done as well, possibly better since it's often impossible to use anything but weapons in combat as witcher abilities are easily disrupted. Mages have significantly more power and the witcher comes across as a fighter/flunky. This game is optimized for consoles. As such, I found the controls for the PC clunky at best, menus are a labyrinth to navigate. There are choices of what you will say in conversations but often not what you intended in terms of results. This game is huge in scope, very detailed in design. The story has interesting moments but they are often overshadowed by trivial quests. There are however issues with many quests. There is little to no optimization so expect brutal frame rates that make the game choppy and unpleasant. Menus are frustrating and overly complex. Watching Geralt do some ridiculous spinning pirouette again and again makes you realize this is a really slow attack, shouldn't sword attacks be fast and precise. "Can't you just stick him with the damn sword". It's like a 6 year old's idea of what sword fighting is. I realize that there are fan boys who will love this game unconditionally regardless of its issues. This game is superficially pretty but the underlying game mechanics are flawed, clunky and frustrating. Yes after 4 hours I can imagine many people think this is a perfect game, play for 100 hours then write a review, your opinion will likely change.
