DOOM: The Dark Ages8
May 17, 2025
The only real complaint I have with the game is that it doesn't take full advantage of the combat. I always feel like the fight's over before it really gets going and sometimes, when you defeat bigger enemies, the other enemies will just disappear from the battlefield. I was kinda hoping for the screen to really fill up with demonic chaos, something almost like Serious Sam. The combat still works great, mixing a good combination of melee and gunplay. The weapons are cool and creative but also don't distract from the new mechanics. The constant tutorials are pretty grating, something Bethesda didn't learn from Doom Eternal. I already wish the combat had more bite, I don't need constant interruptions on how certain guns work or how to kill certain enemies. Let me figure it out on my own!

Super Mario RPG9
Nov 18, 2023
This was easily my most anticipated game of the year and it did not disappoint. This is a very faithful remaster of the 1996 classic, from the combat, right down to the humorous writing. Unfortunately, like most games, it's not perfect. The difficulty is pretty unbalanced, the controls can be little annoying at times and, as much as I enjoy the game, new players will not appreciate the hefty price tag on this rather short JRPG. But, I still loved it and give it a 9 out of 10 simply being what a Mario game should be, fun, casual and charming.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game - Complete Edition6
May 16, 2023
This game works best with multiplayer because a solo run can be pretty frustrating. Enemy AI isn't the best as most enemies will just sit there and block all your attacks, all while they fill the screen with attacks that can both smack you across the screen and take forever to recover from. This is where other players can come in handy for support and more fun chaos fun. If a solo run is all that's available to you, I would try something else.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe7
Apr 2, 2023
Return to Dreamland helps bring gamers back to that nostalgic time of couch multiplayer. Unfortunately, the game itself isn't very difficult, or even really a challenge. You can easily blow past each level with minimal effort. Honestly, you'll probably be more concentrated on exploring each level and finding secrets than actually trying to survive. Which is a shame because with the amazing visuals, I think I would've liked at least a bit of a challenge. Other than that, the game still offers good ole-fashioned Kirby fun, especially with friends.

I can't say that this is a great game, because it really isn't. The story is pretty standard, the setting is similar to most games of this type and the characters are easily forgettable. The gameplay can be pretty fun for a while, and that's really what kept my interest. The game is same kind of fun you'd have at a dumb summer blockbuster, it's not gonna change the game but it was a fun time. Although, if you are going to play it, wait until it's on sale because the price tag right isn't worth it

Super Mario Odyssey10
Dec 12, 2022
I don't give out perfect scores really that often because I feel so few... anything can live up to that hype that's created in your head. With that said though, Super Mario Odyssey is such a fun, imaginative and just downright good time. Every time I think Nintendo's out of ideas for this character, they shock me with a title like this. Each level bursts with personality through the NPCs, the puzzles and especially the colors and the addition of Cappy just elevates the gameplay to new heights that the franchise hadn't reached yet. You can bet when a sequel comes, I will be playing it the day it comes out.

I've played this game now for a few hours and I think that's as far as I'm going to get. While there are a lot of concepts here that are interesting like the character creation and mixed combat of ranged and melee, I just found this game dull. In the game's prolouge, they throw so much lore and story your way, through a really drull narration trying really hard to be Stephen Fry from BigLittlePlanet, that you're not really given much time to take the world you'll be exploring or even what kind of character you're playing as. Even the combat can feel really stiff and out of control, you'll be attacking a lot of air when things get busy. Is it a bad game? No, there is something here that can be salvageable, but the end result just couldn't keep a hold of my interest

Return to Monkey Island7
Oct 23, 2022
It's a great experience for those who grew up with the original point n' clickers. As a modern game, it's still pretty decent. Nothing about it really sticks out to me except for the nostalgia of the original games. Unfortunately, the difficulty is dumbed down for this new generation of gaming. Hours were dedicated to trying to find the craziest path to your objective, and now you're given a hint book that can be too enticing to read through from time to time. The comedy is still pretty on point if you know the originals, finding that perfect balance of nostalgia and new. You'll get your fill here if you're a fan of the first two Monkey Island games. I just don't think much else will.

Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package3
Sep 29, 2022
So, who was this game made for because it certainly wasn't made for fans of the franchise. Who are you playing as? Frank West? Oh sure, he just looks completely different, acts different and even has a brand-new voice actor... but that's Frank West. They also make it such a big deal to return to the Willamette Mall from the first game but the map doesn't look anything like it did back in 2005, so there's no nostalgia to get excited for. Is there still zombie-bashing? Yeah, but even that's pretty boring now since you can easily take on a horde of zombies with your bare firsts like an hour into the game. If this is Frank "big package," he needs to return to sender.

Luigi's Mansion 36
Sep 29, 2022
I have to say that this installation of the Luigi's Mansion franchise is pretty lackluster. While the game does offer some new interesting gameplay mechanics, and the graphics look great, the overall game is ridiculously tedious. So many times, you're forced to backtrack to levels you've already beaten, chase similar enemies multiple times and puzzles that aren't creative enough to call groundbreaking. If you're a fan of the franchise, you'll get your fill here, but this is easily the weakest of the trilogy, which is such a shame since the first one is so fun and iconic.

I'm sorry, but while this is a fascinating game, that doesn't make it good. The controls make it way too difficult to aim, the enemies are actually really difficult to spot, making stealth nearly impossible, and the autosave doesn't even work sometimes. Make sure you save plenty because if you die, which you certainly will, you can be brought back really far in the game. If you're looking for a different experience, you'll get it... you just won't get the good game that comes with it

Pokemon Legends: Arceus2
Jul 19, 2022
I honestly don't understand this game. The point of the original games was to go on an adventure, battling other trainers, collect badges and catch all sorts of different pokemon. Now, you're basically confined to one area, battling rarely happens (it's honestly a second thought), and now you are catching multiple types of the same pokemon. It's almost like the developers looked at Pokemon GO and thought, "we can make a AAA title for this, minus the bonus of going outside and interacting with others." I honestly don't understand how this is making pokemon fans happy.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge9
Jul 1, 2022
There's very little to dislike about this game. It perfectly captures the atmosphere of both old-school arcade games and TMNT: Turtles in Time. The soundtrack is catchy as hell and the art style is a perfect mix of the old 80's cartoon and retro beat'em up style games. Unfortunately, this is also a fairly easy game to beat and the side quests don't offer enough content to warrant a second playthrough. But this is still a really fun game and if you can get another seven players together, you won't regret it.

Metroid Dread5
Jun 21, 2022
Have you ever wanted to run through the same corridor, fighting the exact same enemies in the exact same locations, over and over and over again in hopes of finding something to do? Then Metroid Dread is the game for you. Granted, the combat is very smooth and complimented greatly by the graphics, but the gameplay is so tedious, boring and downright frustrating at times that it's made me put it down and never pick it up again.

Evil Dead: The Game4

I refuse to play this game anymore until they fix the AI. I am tired of trying to beat a match, and my AI companions just decide to wander off for some reason. Oh, and if they're gone for too long, they get too scared, become possessed and start attacking the team... but that's not all. If you're too far away, the map closes to the specific location of the possessed character, and anyone outside rapidly loses health. FIX THE FREAKING AI!
