For Honor5
Feb 15, 2017
At the end of the day this is just a moba with more effort spent on graphics than actual gameplay or character diversity. While this format will take off in the next year or so For Honor seems more like it should have been free to play but Ubisoft knew it wasn't going to be interesting or addictive enough for them to make much money from microtransactions so they whacked a AAA title price tag on it. It's unfortunate because it shows promise but the lack of hero diversity and game modes wears thin pretty quickly. Classes are really unbalanced which is even more obvious when the lag from not having any dedicated servers kicks in. Single Player get's boring really quickly and the rewards don't seem worth it. Gear seems to do nothing but customise your character slightly which is good but doesn't seem worth the effort. Can guarentee even the people giving it 10 won't be playing it in a months time.

World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor4

Now the dust has settled and a majority of the glitches are sorted I thought I would chuck up a quick review for WoD. While it was fun to start off leveling a character and explore new areas this expansion seemed to become stale quicker than the others. Garrisons were also fun to start with but just ended up being a pain in the butt to keep running follower missions. So far I think I spent 70% of this expansion standing around in my Garrison waiting for something or other. While I don't PvP I did progress up to Mythic Highmaul but doing the same bosses on 3 different difficulties really got old fast. Sadly the community is still the biggest downfall of this game. Maybe I'm just getting too old for this game but the maturity of people seems to have dropped to a new low. I'm far from easily offended but I permanently left General chat on my server because the amount of crap that people came up with was just unbelievable. Overall this is just a watered down version of what the game used to be with multiple difficulty settings for raiders and the same old epeen stroking rubbish and queues for PvP'rs. I guess we wait another 2 years to see if they improve on it or water it down more for the new generation of MMO players.

It seems a lot of reviews vary depending on the amount of time played in the game. I have probably sunk around 25 hours in to it and my character is level 24 which seems to be where the game stalls a bit. For the first 15 hours or so I would have probably rated this game at 9 but after that the repetitive nature of the game really kicks in and drags the rating right down. The combat in the game is fun but once you have killed 3000 odd enemies it really just blurs in to one long grind. The strike bosses are insanely boring after you have killed them 20 times and I find myself struggling to stay interested after firing 2000 bullets in to their head or stomach. the game gets pretty intense when you are the last guardian left but that's only because you REALLY REALLY REALLY don't want to have to go through another 10 minutes on firing guns at a bullet sponge. I've yet to experience the raids which may be really exciting but getting the gear to do the raid is just way too painful and boring. I have little faith that they will be anything but firing 10000 bullets at some big fat slow enemy. The crucible...well if you like trading one shots with shotguns or super powers then the game is definitely for you. Personally I grew tired of this type of gameplay back in the Unreal Tournament days. The storyline isn't that memorable, to be honest I can't really remember what it was about and I only just played it last week. Something about Tyrion hacking random computers in various places, you would think with all the hacking he does he would be bloody quicker about it. Insert waves of random mobs while he hacks something over and over plus a miniboss and you have nearly every mission in the game. There's also some big floating planet which doesn't seem to have much impact on your experience but he's important supposedly. The loot is probably the biggest disappointment for me in this game. Currently with all gear at level 20 there hasn't been much excitement at potential upgrades. I have found 4 legendary engrams so far and all 4 produced a Mote of Light, seriously, wtf do I even want these for? The next round tier of upgrades just involves a massive rep and token grind which wouldn't be so bad if the game was actually interesting. If you want a casual shooter for a bit of fun before moving on to the next game then this is worth it if you have the cash to waste. If your after an MMO or game to tide you over until the next big release, keep looking.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls9
Mar 30, 2014
It looks like Blizzard finally fixed the game in order to flog for copies of Reaper of Souls. Well it worked and I'm personally glad they did as this is what I had been wishing for 2 years ago. I was not a hardcore player of Diablo 2 but I certainly sunk quote a few hours in to it and I actually prefer Diablo 3 + RoS now than 1 or 2. Definately give RoS a shot if you have been a fan of the Diablo series. Most of us got burnt by Diablo 3 but in my opinion it's worth spending another $40 to experience what the game is now. I won't give it a 10 purely because loot still gives me the **** at times and crafting seems pretty useless at high levels due to lack of mats but the gameplay definately gets a 10. Crusader is insanely fun to play and even after hours and hours of slaughtering mob after mob and hoping my mouse doesn't break I still can't wait to get home and do it again. I would give it a 9.5 if the slider let me.

Diablo III2
Sep 25, 2012
I purchased the CE. Honestly felt like somebody ran up to me and stole my wallet with $130 AU in it. My review does not take in to account any of the login issues and is based of the gameplay experience. The first day or so of this game was fun as it took me back to the old days of playing Diablo 1 and 2. A lot of friends and colleagues were playing the game. After a week most of them had dropped off without even hitting max level. I continued playing with the 1 or 2 friends left in the game and hit inferno. After that the fun experience came to an end. I failed to see any motivation to grind on act 1 and then eventually act 2 over and over just to get to act 3 and maybe act 4 to well... just keep on grinding. If people want to grind a game to may a few $$$ that's up to them. Personally I go to work for $$$ and play games for fun. Just another great example of what Bli$$ard has now become. Sure they might be rolling in cash at the moment from all the **** out there but are people dumb enough to keep paying for this rubbish... some may be but I hope the intelligent people out there will teach them not to bite the hand that feeds them over and over or they will eventually go without food.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria1
Sep 25, 2012
It's all well and good to call the low rating givers trolls but the reality is most of us are people who sunk a decent amount of hours in to WoW from the beginning and are sick of the rubbish Blizzard is now flogging us. I was bored of this game within the first few hours and feel like a **** for buying this after they already ripped me off with Diablo 3. Delete this game from existence a release WoW2 revamp starting from Vanilla days. I think that would be 100x better than kiddycore pandaland. If 70% of people rate this game badly you can't just call them all trolls and ignore them...

Darksiders II8
Sep 2, 2012
While the game is not as much fun as the original Darksiders for a sequel is holds up pretty well. I didn't get as attached to the characters as the original. Sometimes you get that "What was the point of this game again?" feeling as the story doesn't really **** you in and you are occasionally reminded that you are on a mission instead of just randomly looking for stuff to kill. Dialogue is mostly interesting and humorous and you rarely find yourself skipping cut scenes to get back to the action. There is a good balance between combat and puzzles but sometimes you wish there was something else in there to break it all up. I'm not sure what, but something. Occasionally you are shown a room full of jumping puzzles and you just cbf. Sometimes having to collected X number of items before you can fight the boss gives you the same feeling. While the graphics on the PC port are not perfect the art itself is quite impressive. It is a shame it wasn't ported with a bit more effort as a high end PC would have really made this game shine. Textures sometimes take me back to the late 90's, while the characters are bright and quite detailed at times the surroundings really lets them down. Forcing everything to max via your graphics card settings squeezes a little extra eye candy out of the engine. Combat is fun, fast and for a controller based game really not that repetitive. The variety of moves and weapons really puts this game in front. While some fights can drag on a bit the intensive action keeps the game alive. There is quite a variety of items and upgrades in the game and plenty of treasure to be found which makes the long and sometimes quite tricky jump puzzles worthwhile. Overall the game is a good sequel to the original and definitely worth the time if you're and action RPG fan.

Guild Wars 29

I think the average user score is quite fair. There are obviously some people who may not like the game, Blizzard fanboi's aside. The days of tough, complex MMO's are long gone to make way for the 10 year old gamer generation. The lack of End Game will probably affect this game sooner or later, while PvP is fun the imbalance really affects it and constant battles just outside our world's spawn area have really ruined the experience for me. After a few hours of WvW I really haven't seen any of the mechanics apart from spamming each other in the middle of nowhere. Unless there is some balance in place PvP at the moment really minds me of the old Tarren Mill vs Southshore days of WoW. PvE is fun but getting locked in to 4 skills per weapon is starting to become old already and I'm not even very high level. Traits etc might break this up but it doesn't really seem to be enough. Instead of swapping weapons it would be good if you could just use both weapon skill sets on the fly to make it a little less monotonous. F2P is a good feature especially on a high a end title but I'm sure content will be released quite quickly that we will need to fork out cash for and buying gems etc is already looking quite tempting. Will it stand up against Mists of Pandaria or the test of time? We will see.
