repetitiveness, basic combat, lots of backtracking, clunky animations. has some visual appeal to it and can be fun at times. but finding yourself searching around the map only to find what you need requires you to backtrack to a previous place, and then another place and another. stupid game design.

A solid remake - very few bugs, AI and NPC's are much better, gameplay is smooth and GoldSrc-like. i played all HL games and expansions a couple of times, and i really enjoyed this time as well. i didnt know about Xen having extra original content, and i felt like the level design was top notch. Also, the soundtrack is epic, and is tailored very well to each scenario. The only gripe i have is the overuse of secret entrance/puzzle solve to get through, it was too easy most of the time and i was feeling like it's just there to fill content. job well done.

have 26 hours in the game.. i tried to like it but i cant. this game is totally overrated. the story is boring, and most of the missions are generic. maybe it's just me, i dont like rpg's that much (prefer arpg's like titan quest more), but the gameplay is too slow for my taste. i do like the combat system and monster fights.. its a solid 7 in my point of view, also for the high polish of the game. but not my cup of tea.
