The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

The prime attraction of this movie, and its predecessor, is that it envelopes the audience in the Mario world. Every square inch of the screen, from top to bottom, corner to corner, is packed with images derived from the game. Easter eggs abound. Watching it is akin being inside the 2007 Super Mario Galaxy game itself. Which is why it needs to be seen on the big screen. Seeing it on a phone or a laptop wouldn’t do it justice.

Anyone hoping for a more mature plot or emotional weight should probably resign themselves now: Galaxy tees up endless potential sequels and spinoffs, and it looks like the Super Mario moviemaking machine not only has a proven formula at this point, it’s sticking with it.

If the idea of spending 90 minutes in a movie theater seeing gorgeously rendered versions of a hugely popular gaming world and its characters going through the motions appeals to you, then The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will scratch the itch.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is, like its predecessor, solidly put together and even elicits a chuckle here and there (most of them, as before, courtesy of Black). But it’s also pretty much as impenetrable as Finnegan’s Wake for those not locked into its hermetic, mushroom-and-brick-filled world.

Maybe there’s just no time for things like “cohesive character development” or “a compelling story” when you’ve got to service as much Nintendo IP as humanly possible in barely 90 minutes before credits.

So lacking in substance and purpose that after a while you can’t even hear the dialogue over the incessant sound of Aristotle’s ghost punching himself.

The film is torturous to sit through and, for me, provoked periods of actual physical discomfort. I had to stab myself repeatedly in the hand with a pen to distract from the howling distress. It’s that bad, and that offensive.

Mario galaxy was a fun ride overall. The story is typical and very much like the game. It is well done apart from a slower middle section. The humor, the music, that characters all comes from the game. So, if you never played Mario Galaxy you might not get 60-70% of the content. I especially like the villains in this one. They had the best dialogues. The animation is incredible, and there is even some fun 2d inclusions. I though the music didn't lean enough into the game's music. It was too orchestral at time. The music in the games is great and could have been in the movie, then some samples mixing. I give it 65%. It made me smile and was easier to watch then the first. For the adults, you need to be a gamer of Galaxy to enjoy this, in my opinion. For the kids, they will enjoy it for the action and visuals.

Exactly what I expected it to be. Pleasant to watch, but there was no substance.

Le film est toujours beau visuellement, mais l'histoire est ennuyeux à t'elle point que je voulais quitté la salle. On ne comprend plus les intentions de Browser. Les références sont pauvres et mal exécuté. On nous tease des choses incroyables pour être dessus. C'est dommage d'être tombé aussi bas en vue du premier film qui était extraordinaire.

What a downgrade from first movie. They just made a list of easter eggs they wanted in the movie, mixed it and we got this. There's no substance. They present you a conflict, they do things around that topic for about 10-15 seconds and after that we're in a whole new situacion. It's a diarrhea of information because kids nowadays can't focus for more that a tiktok's lenght.
