Mini-Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge7
May 4, 2016
Fun, entertaining game to play in an afternoon. Hopefully there will be some more levels added in the future. I wouldn't mind the Amiibo levels so much, were it not for the fact some of them (like Bowser) have virtually no use outside of the game and Smash 4. I'd only buy Toad and Yoshi because I can use them for Treasure Tracker and Wolly World, respectively.

Why are you still looking at reviews? GET THIS GAME ALREADY! Pros: -Jaw-dropping graphics and animations -Unreal colors and hues -Amazing Musical scores -Great cooperation concept with complete random strangers -Compelling story and hidden notes throughout -Fun and replay-worthy achievements -High replay value (especially for online playthroughs) -Fun flying, sand-sliding, and calling-out game mechanics that work exceptionally well Cons: -Absolutely none, other than that the game can be beaten in an hour - if you know what you're doing - which is a little short Worth every penny and absolutely worth your time to play through AT LEAST once, if not more than once (for an achievement, wink).

An early contender, this may be the greatest platformer I've played in this new generation of consoles. Pros: -Amazing Music -Visuals and colors that stand out -New and exciting mechanics in every world -Intuitive boss fights -Extremely high replayability -Graphics and controls that feel like a well-polished Nintendo game -Don't need to worry about life-counting, it doesn't exist -Animations respond really well to controller input, allowing me to goof of while having fun -With all the secrets and unlockables in-game, it never seems to end And the greatest thing of all... -Giving the Wii U Gamepad actual purpose (in and out of game-play) instead of pushing it aside like other games would Cons: -Slight graphical/animation errors (hard to notice, but they're there) -That one section of a specific level way late in the game on that gives out extreme frame-rate problems (RIP Wii U) (only a brief moment of game lag) -Extremely varying degrees of difficulty that does not curve, but spikes at random levels -Forced usage of the gamepad (it's fine to get used to, but I'd rather use the pro controller during some moments) -When the game starts up, the loading music is noticeably loud for some reason, but the actual game music is quiet when it starts. Weird... Middle ground: -Murphy levels (its a swing-or-miss, but they respond amazingly well on the game pad, which I like) -Some unlockables require stupid amounts of Lums (your currency, essentially), with some character costumes worth over 750,000. I've beaten the game completely, and only have 455,000. That's a lot of grinding... However, I immediately looked beyond those things when I turn the game on, as I am blown away by how much fun I had with it. Truly worth the original $60. Easily, this beats out things like Mario U and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, and puts this up with platformers like Shovel Knight as one of the greatest I have played in years.

Titan Souls10

For what the game is worth, it is a great experience. That is, if you are paying $10 or less like I did. I finished the whole game (all titans, challenges not accomplished) in 2.5 hours, almost on the dot. If it was a $30-40 game, the added difficulty challenges would just make me hate it this game for the lack of content, but I had enough fun with this game, despite my anger at the bosses and the randomly lucky shots I made on about 7 of the titans. But for $10, I got a wonderful soundtrack, nice animations, unique game play features, cool mechanics, astounding bosses, and great extra modes after the first one. And that makes it a worthwhile experience in my book. TL;DR: Absolutely worth $10, maybe $15-20, absolutely NOT anything above that, and if you like to test your breaking point and going beyond it, this is the game for you.

For what the game is worth, I got my $40 out of it. I enjoyed it so much, I wouldn't mind paying $60 for it. Heck, I'd pay for it again to give to a friend of mind so he can play it as well. It was such a great experience that I will never forget.

Sonic the Hedgehog 28

I'm not a big fan of sonic games in general, but I can tell when a lot of effort goes into a game like this. Even when it is remade by the nostalgia-goggles company M2. Like I said in 3D Sonic 1, it's a sonic game, you either like it, or you hate it. And I can honestly say that it is an all-around fun time for me. My favorite moments are when Tails gets lost or dies, and I play a guessing game of when/where he is going to reappear, and he always surprises me when I least expect it. The game is also difficult, but trial and error (and the any-time saving mechanic) get me through it. Can't wait for 3D Sonic 3 & Knuckles (hopefully)

It's Sonic. With 3D Capabilities. You either like it, or you hate it. And I honestly find it's really fun, for a Sonic game I have never played before.

Gunman Clive 27
Sep 26, 2015
This game changed a lot, but not for the better. While it still has that shine that Gunman Clive 1 has, I feel like the platforming and overall replay-ability have been forcibly numbed down. For me, ultimately, this game feels like less of a "you can experiment and use the best results that you find to succeed" game, and more of an "if you don't press these specific buttons in this EXACT pattern that we want you to press them in, you will die and restart at the beginning of the level" kind of game. The biggest example of this came from the first panda-riding level (level 10), where if you don't jump at the edge of a ramp, keep your 3-bullet shotgun through the ENTIRE level, or if you don't jump up a building - and forcibly have to climb instead - chances are you aren't going to survive the giant saw-blade chasing you. And that's not fun for anyone. *Here's an idea: how about when you're being chased by the giant saw blade, maybe you can have the option to turn around and shoot it, so that the saw moves back slightly. This gives you the choice to either press left to aim backwards to shoot at the saw, or press right to move faster on the panda. You could experiment with both options that way.* The colors and music are nice and uplifting, but it wears down on me when I see/hear the same stuff over and over again from dying to randomly new enemies, or oddly placed ones, which you can only walk past (because they're too high away, run away before you can hit them, or completely dodge everything you throw at them). And then there's spikes: your own fault for landing on in the first game, soul-crushingly EVERYWHERE in the second one. In my personal opinion, this game is in it's brother's (Gunman Clive 1) shadow, and it deserves that. And while I complained that the first game didn't have too much variety in terms of platforming (as opposed to this one), maybe it's better that way. Because as much as it looks and feels amazing and fun (respectively), there's always that overbearing feeling that somewhere, somehow, there's a new enemy in the shadows, ready to kill you back to the beginning of the level, which have notably increased in length, making it much more of a chore to complete. P.S. Nice Tertis homage in that one level (I don't know which); it was cool, and funny.

Simplistic and easy to control, it takes the DKC initiative of every level being unique and new, while still relying on the Mega Man style of jumping and shooting. Shame that it's short, but otherwise an awesome experience.

Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows10
Sep 18, 2015
*While I feel that there are times where looking at either the screen or game-pad during game play can be discerning, using the pro controller quickly removed the middle man from the equation.* The game is essentially just Shovel Knight, except with a new character to play as. And IT'S AMAZING! Every course feels new, all the songs are memorable and great to listen to, the fights are completely different and scary at some times, and Plague Knight feels like his own person, both in dialogue and performance. The money system is pretty on-point in terms of feeling like I should check all my shops before frivolously spending left and right. And those green alchemy coins, while bizarre, are the basic unlockables of the game, and that's all right with me. I have 2 problems with the game: it feels weird on the Wii U, and the process of how to start the game. 1. The screen either feels too pushed in, or too far apart at times, for my enjoyment - though to be fair, that may just be my TV - I recommend playing Shovel Knight on the Wii U... but maybe take a look at the 3DS version for Plague Knight. It just works better on the handheld. 2. My other problem is that some bug or glitch occurred, where I downloaded the update after I had already beaten the game once. It didn't tell me to start a new game in order to play as plague knight, and sat there for half an hour, beating the final boss again, just to see if that's what I needed to do in order to unlock Plague Knight. Despite the bad taste in my mouth that bug left me, I immediately felt better after playing the game. Overall, a must-have for any Shovel Knight lovers out there. Also, it's a free update. Even though technically the KickStarter-ers already paid for it... technically.

Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows10
Sep 18, 2015
While Shovel Knight himself works better on consoles like the Wii U and PS4, I feel like Plague Knight flows WAY better on the handheld 3DS. From the side-scrolling/side-jumping, to the mechanic where you can pick on the bottom screen to change potions or add health or even pause the game to adjust your flasks and beakers, to just the way the game feels when you rain down a multitude of potions from above, Plague Knight is a must-have update for Shovel Knight. And best part of all? IT'S FREE TO DOWNLOAD!!
