Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood10
Jun 20, 2017
Stormblood sets a new standard for what not just an expansion should be, but the modern mmo genre as a whole. While ultimately it is a new story featuring new and different lands, enemies, and characters from what we have known, the developers have gone above and beyond to make everything feel fresh, with smart reworks of every job, a complete overhaul of the existing pvp. and fun, *varied* dungeons. The story takes place directly after the events of "Heavensward's" finale patch "The Far Edge of Fate," and hits the ground running. I don't recall a recent game in which they explored so many aspects of war, be it the enslaved, the endangered, or the bystanders, this story is dark to say the least. It brings new cultures and ideals to the already lore heavy game without any need for a retcon. All in all this is the perfect representation of the best of 14, it is truly something special, and an adventure you won't want to miss.

Nier is a fantastic game, that is the simplest way to put it, I don't know what more I can say without saying to much. It is something you need to experience, I can say how absolutely amazing the story, the world, and the gameplay are, but it will never equal you experiencing it for yourself, so that said, this is a must buy for people who enjoy: RPGs, Action, Adventure, Science fiction, High fantasy, Emotional narrative, Video games, Thinking. Enjoy the game!

Final Fantasy XV9

While this game is far from perfect, and I mean far, somehow, I have found that none of that even matters. What this game boiled down to for me was fun, pure fun, with an interesting if lacking story, lots of good ideas, and over all a package that manages to be worth the price. Somehow, I even would go to the extent of saying this game is one of my favorites of all time. It is quite good, with a highly relatable cast, which I found surprising, I related most to Noctis, which I didn't see coming seeing as he is royalty, but when it comes down to it, he felt human, and suffered from many of the same human issues as anyone else. Combat is fast and fun, there isn't a simple thing to compare it to, maybe something like bayonetta or devil may cry, but at the same time completely different. My only issue with combat is it never challenges the player, and it never really grows, it gives you the entire tool kit at the beginning and it is really a skill and numbers game from then on. The story like I said before, while lacking, it still tells a full story where all motives are clear, and all plot points minus one or two make sense. The world is simply beautiful and exactly what you might come to expect from the FF series, but in a open world. The later half of the game does go linear which is more of a strength to its story telling, although execution doesn't hit every beat in this later half. The long and short of it is this game will make you laugh, cry, and more than anything, it will make you care, maybe not about the bigger conflict, but about the protagonists. While the game makes storytelling sacrifices, that only stands to strengthen the 4 friends characters throughout the story, and if nothing else, that made the journey one worth taking, for me not just once, but three times, and many more to come over the years. A few things to note: Chapter 13 is hit or miss from person to person, I enjoyed it, many didn't, that is all I will say to avoid spoilers. They are going beyond the release to fix fan complaints with the game, this team has insane dedication to the fans, and it is refreshing to see this level of dedication, hopefully all will help to better the experience! There is a jumping puzzle in the end game, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you see it through to the very end, it is one of the more difficult, yet fun things I have seen in games in the last few years, and while it doesn't always appear to fit the game's style, it feels good to conquer it.

As close to a perfect game in my mind as is possible, this game is something truly special! The story is something special and original, it is truly fantastic. Even the world itself is something I have never seen done in a game, you have to play to understand why. Graphically some textures are muddy, but this is easily forgiven when you see the massive beautiful world. The gameplay itself consists of many different evolving mechanics that are always building and complimenting on each other. This game is quite anime to an extent, so if that is a turn off for you, I can't promise the same enjoyment. Overall I can't praise this game enough, while it is not my favorite game, it is a near perfect game, and it is worth picking up for sure!

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward10
Aug 11, 2016
Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward is the perfect example of what an expansion should be. The new areas are massive. The story is one of the best stories in any mmo ever. The music is some of my favorite from the entire series. This is good work on all fronts from the developers. Going into Heavensward you will get a lot more of the same from A Realm Reborn. That said ARR was well done, and this content feels just as good. The expansions only real shortcoming is the extensive grind toward the end of the roughly 60 hour story (pre-patch now about 75 hours as of 3.3) The story masterfully makes you feel helpless and unable to comprehend just the scope of the insurmountable hatred the dragons have for the people of Ishgard. The story is just the beginning, the end game offers some of the best content the game has to offer. Currently there are 8 segments of the long term 8 man raid "Alexander," and 2 segments of the 24 man "sky pirate" (not official name) raid series. Beyond that there are lots of dungeons to do, daily missions, new beast tribe quests, new classes, and much more. Be prepared to lose literally thousands of hours to this soul **** amazing game. Definitely recommend this game to any fans of the mmo genre.

Overwatch8
Aug 11, 2016
Overwatch's greatest quality is the fun factor. When I look for something to play, above all else, I want to have fun, and without a doubt Overwatch is damn fun. There are few experiences that compare to sitting down playing with six friends. The characters are masterfully crafted to allow for many different play styles. The maps are tactfully built to allow for competitive strategy. I also appreciate that Blizzard is following through with their promise for long term support of this game. Having already released a new hero and a surprise Olympics event, I feel certain that there is much more to come for this game, promised at no extra cost. The only real problem with the launch of this game, is that there is not enough Overwatch. Looking at the game on release compared to the beta, I personally fail to see much difference other than some balancing. We didn't see any new maps, new characters, or any new modes. I think that while it is good that they did a "balance" test while also doing a stress test, it really took away from that "new game" wonder when you play a game for the first time. Hopefully with the promised updates to Overwatch we can watch this game grow and expand into the amazing experience it has already shown it can be.

No Man's Sky6
Aug 11, 2016
Let me start bu saying that No Man's Sky does so much right. It has an amazing universe, with endless outcomes and things to find. It is fun at its core and provides a fun memorable experience. Yet for all of its grandeur, it lack longevity, and the experience is a fleeting one. Hello Games has made a empty corpse. Imagine going to a massive party, and being the only one there. For a company with a name that is a social greeting, they mist their opportunity to make one of the most inspiring social experiments yet. They say they want you to feel small and show the scope of reality, and while that is amazing, I also play games to have fun. That said, I always tend to have fun with friends and other people in general. When thinking of what this game could have been at the pinnacle of its hype, I thought about how cool it could be to wage galactic war in a glorious infinite game world. A game where you could make your own faction, your own kingdom. Hello games has some amazing ground work here, but until the shell is filled, they have something just OK. I hope that this game is one that continues to expand. They are withholding one of modern gaming's treasures from us, a social No Man's Sky would be the definitive social experience, if only. So until we can wage war to claim the sky, I will say no to fully recommending this game, although it is fun in bursts, there is nothing long term here.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 48
Feb 9, 2016
This game looks amazing, and the story is the best story the series has offered thus far. This game brings the 4th war to an end, and is the final game in the Naruto Ultimate Ninja: Storm series. The action command sequences are some of the best not only in the series, but in any game. The game offers a crazy amount of playable characters (over 60) and a wide variety of ways to play. In my one day with the game so far I got to play the story entirely, as well as play a few online matches. The story has many big moments that feel larger than anything I could have imagined for the series. Now this did result in a few frame rate dips, sometimes dropping into the range of 10 fps. Another issue, although not as big of a deal was that dialogue didn't line up with animation almost all of the time. Game mechanics were solid, although difficulty would randomly spike at times. Also some of the big moments like playing as Kurama did feel a little clunky at first before getting the grip. Over all the story while playing out much like a movie, was an epic finale to the beloved story of Naruto Uzumaki. Now on to the multiplayer. For the most part the characters feel well balanced with the exception of a few "boss" characters from the story. There was some lag at times playing online, but this could be attributed to a rush of players on the servers on day 1. Over all, a game that is well worth the money, with forgivable mistakes that may very well be fixed in the near future. The game served as an excellent send off for our ninja heroes, and while they will be missed, we will hear from them again soon, through monthly dlc for the next 3 months, that will include new story content, new costumes, voices, playable characters, and more.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX10
Dec 14, 2014
My two favorite games of all time, at there best basking in final mix hd glory. The "movie" has a sluggish method of story telling, but also clarifies the importance of that entry in the beloved series. biggest complaint though is that the battle scenes weren't long enough. Diffidently recommend this to anyone who enjoyed 1.5 even just a little, this is without a doubt one of the most epic stories of all time!

Destiny0
Dec 4, 2014
For me in all honesty regardless of how I felt about the experience that is Destiny, that does not dilute the reality that Activision (not to be confused with Bungie) betrayed us due to corporate decisions to the tune of "What will make us more money?" Obviously the entire point of the industry just like any other industry is to make money, but at what cost, your fans loyalty, disgracing the art that this industry has become? The outlook on the future of this industry is very grave if this is what the new generation is gonna be. Activision screwed up with Destiny. Ubisoft screwed up with Assassins Creed Unity and some others. Not sure about EA, not really a big fan of them. Microsoft screwed up with the kinect. Nintendo screwed up with the Wii U. Sony screwed up with the vita. All of these have been followed up with a slow vindication, or are still trying to find a solution to their issues. If all the big companies release their products half-assed, and release the second half at extra cost, and people just continue to buy it, that tells them that its ok and we agree with this. People need to stand against this or we wont be getting many good games any time soon
