The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword8

Its a cool game...just too slow and **** much fetch questing between **** other than that pretty good. Motion controls are great, unlike the general consensus that they're crap because the E3 demo screwed up...

Mario Kart 810

The perfect kart racing game. Smooth and beautiful animation, nice online multiplayer and choice of controls, cheerful music, no doubt one of the most joyful game on the Wii U thus far.

FTL: Faster Than Light8
May 7, 2014
Its a great game. Really quite addictive, with lots of features to explore and unlock. Challenging too. Nice simple story that fits well with gameplay and complex gameplay that's easy to get used to. The only downside is that the graphics are a bit simplistic and that its a tad bit expensive. Also, permanent death is really annoying. Seriously, it just ruins any sense of achievement.

Candy Crush Saga0

I hate this game so much. How many times has it made me rage when it's supposed to entertain me? And then King has the nerve to raise the price for all in app purchases. Not that I was ever stupid enough to fall for their shameful money grabbing ways.

Super Mario 3D World6
Apr 18, 2014
Not a bad game, but to me slightly disappointing considering all the praise it got. I was expecting something like Super Mario Galaxy or Sunshine, but it's really just New Super Mario bros on a 3D plane with enhanced graphics. I've never expected much 'story' from a Mario game but 3D world's plot was pretty pathetic. The game made poor and limited use of the gamepad, it was too easy, one can breeze through the game in 4-5 hours, plus another 2-3 hours to go back and get all the stars/stamps. On the other hand, there are some memorable little tunes and fun levels. The cat transformation, while strange, was perfect for some levels and bosses. A decent game overall, but not something I would call the best the Wii U has to offer.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time10
Apr 18, 2014
If you're going to say something like 'this game has not aged well', then just don't. This is the original N64 version released back in 1998, it wouldn't have aged at all. Its story and gameplay, while simple by today's standards, was the best of the best back in its day. Remember that not many games back then had such a grand story, not to mention complex gameplay.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf9
Mar 24, 2014
Animal crossing never fails to disappoint, the New Leaf for the 3DS is much smoother, graphically beautiful and diverse than Wild World was on the original DS. The gameplay mechanic of being the mayor has much to improve upon, but it has made a start none the less. I do feel this game could do better with exclusive events and DLC, as to me, the game does kind of get boring, slow and even tedious as you start to expand your house to the point where it costs hundreds of thousands of bells...

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds10
Mar 17, 2014
A Link Between Worlds is fast paced, straight to the point with its delivery. No boring tutorial, no excessive story telling, yet there are still memorable characters and moments. Controls are simple and easy, boss fights are fast paced and hero's mode presents a decent challenge. The game lacks in its story, however, such as how basically nothing happens between dungeons(in other recent Zelda titles, there would be a bit of story development between every dungeon). Top down perspective also make the game less appealing visually, which is disappointing since its a game for a 3DS. Not the perfect game, but a must own never the less.

Flappy Bird0

Please... It's the most overrated thing in the history of existance...need I say more? Since Metacritic insists I have 150 characters, I will actually say a bit more... How can this even be remotely worthy of being called 'the new Angry Birds'?!

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D10
Mar 17, 2014
I think a lot of people are just expecting a bit too much of this remake, because it IS just a remake, not an improved version or anything. Yes, this game is quite old, but if you haven't played the original N64 version, this is worth a try. The story is one that has been overused(through that may not of been the case at the time of its original release), but everything else is near-superb, and while the game could've been different and improved in many areas, it is just a remake(I can't stress that enough), and it's really no different from its N64 version.

Kid Icarus: Uprising10
Mar 17, 2014
This game is wonderful! The controls are a bit strange and I get tired from holding my 3DS with one hand, but the story is full of surprises, the characters are funny and very memorable/lovable, levels can be easy yet challenging, decent multiplayer, overall a very good game.

Nintendo Land6
Jan 27, 2014
It's not bad, but as a game packaged with the console I felt Wii Sports was better. While Nintendo Land has more mini games, a lot of them, especially the single player ones, feel boring. Its ability to use the gamepad simply made some games confusing and demanding to play. Furthermore, Monica's explanations take far too long. Of course, the multiplayer games are great fun, but there just isin't enough of them. I would give this a 6.5.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD9
Jan 27, 2014
Wind Waker is a good game, but this remake felt a bit... Off. There are barely any changes at all, I was expecting smoother transition between cutscenes, as well as cutscenes that were less dramatic as they should've been. Graphics are good, but there are still little problems that bug me, such as when the player uses the swift sail, the boat will rock up and down more, which causes water to 'go through' the bottom of the boat, and that just looked sloppy. That aside, Wind Waker is a great game which can be both relaxing and demanding, it's not so hard that I rage at my controller, and it's not quite a pushover either.

Call of Duty: Ghosts4
Jan 25, 2014
On a console that has very few online games, Ghosts proves to be a decent game for Wii U owners to play online. Of course, the graphics are still substandard, frame rate drops occasionally, crappy story, and a campaign that loses its fun after its first play through.

Galaxy on Fire - Alliances7
Jan 25, 2014
Its a great strategy game with lovely graphics, but there could be better animations and cinematic(such as actually seeing carriers engage in combat instead if just floating there). Alliance system works well, minor bugs and glitches here and there, including non responsive buttons, and game occasionally fails to load.

Bugs vs. Tanks!6

This game isn't too bad, I suppose. It has an interesting story and can be both a walk in the park or a insane challenge. It does lack gameplay elements that would've made it better and really has terrible graphics for something on a 3DS.

Clash of Clans6
Oct 1, 2013
Well ok, this is probably the best free game on the app store. For something so simple, its incredibly fun and very hard to put down. The game becomes more epic as you build up your base, train stronger armies and fighter tougher people. The downside? It becomes slower and slower the further you progress. Town Hall upgrades take more than a week, all upgrades take days, and training takes hours.

Bird Mania 3D5

OK. The good? Cute graphics, slightly addicting, decent music and a fair challenge for those trying to beat all the achievements. The bad? No levels, lacks variety(few settings, enemies, etc.), no online scoreboard, no story development, overly simplistic.
