Yup. I enjoyed this movie. I am okay with movies that move slow as this one does throughout, as long as the end of the story makes up for it. It might not be the best horror movie, but it is so creative and it deserves to be praised if anything for that reason.

I will keep this short and sweet much like the title character, Marcel. I loved this charming adorable little shell and the documentary like tale laid out in the movie. To give away anything of this movie other than the words adorable is taking away from the experience of letting the movie unfold to it's final conclusion. Go watch it!

I was not planning to write a review, but in looking at the rating on Metacritic for the new Nope movie coming out today, I stumbled upon this here one. I saw 44 from the critics and 7.4 from users. That is shocking to me because I was so pleasantly surprised at how much I loved this movie. I have an Alamo Drafthouse movie pass or whatever they call it, so I will see almost anything. I went into this movie with no knowledge of what it was about. Sometimes it is best to just go in blind and hope for the best. Well my hopes past my expectations and this movie was a gem. I am not sure why the critics for the most part did not enjoy this movie. Daisy Edgar-Jones did an awesome job as "The Marsh Girl" Kya. I hope the people at the Academy give her at least a nomination for best actress because her work was terrific.

I am not sure I ever gave a movie a "10" before. But when a movie leaves you wanting more, inspired to write a creative story such as this, and go search who Edson Oda is and what else he has done, then you got to give the props where due. I would not want to give anything away because the unraveling of this movie package is what makes this movie so special. The stars, Winston Duke and Zazie Beetz have been bit actors up to now, and when they were given the baton to run, they took off like they had a a jet fuel pack strapped to their backs. I hope the screenplay, the director and these actors get Oscar consideration. Please see this in any format you can, because it is so worth seeing.

The only redeeming quality of this movie is the way the spotlight shines upon the beauty of Amber Heard. I have never seen a movie where a character has captured my eye the way Amber Heard does. The men that surround her in this movie see her this way as well, and some how the director allows us to have their empathy towards her as she fills the screen. She is a modern day siren and we can not resist her charms. Pure beauty has never been depicted this way so well. It is too bad the movie is a train wreck with a good premise. We are given an interesting scenario but it is a path that winds around to nowhere. Maybe the movie tries to be too smart for it's own good. Billy Bob Thornton is wasted in this role as the storyteller and one of the males that is lost in Amber's beauty. This movie is only worth seeing if you wish to see the radiance of it's star. Otherwise you best to save your money.

Horror movie meets Groundhog's Day. It works and it was fun. I left wanting more. Not in the sense of waking up to watch it over and over again, but I wanted more of this and I hope they make enough money to consider making a sequel or a similar story with other characters. I do not care, the premise works for me. Horror movies do not have to be so serious to be entertaining. The Evil Dead franchise has proven that.

I am a little late to the table, but as I was trying to catch up on this weekends positive movie reviews I realized that I lacked positive movie reviews. I only seemed to come on here and leave feedback on movies that pissed me off and took my money. So here I am trying to remedy that with what I thought was one of the best superhero movies ever presented on the big screen. The director Patty Jenkins deserves to take the DC Universe on her back and run with all future movies. She obviously has a flair for it. Only Thor:Ragnarok was more enjoyable this year, and that was because it was friggin funny and fun. The telling of Wonder Woman was long overdue. She is a legend in the superhero world of comics and after seeing it she might be the greatest of them all. Gal Gadot is breathtakingly beautiful, but she has the acting chops and athleticism to play this role. I believe in her and Patty Jenkins got me to do so. Both ladies deserve awards of some kind, and I hope it is Oscars, but will gladly take anything they get from the fans who are the reason movies are made. If you have not seen any superhero movie yet for whatever reason you hold onto, please break that glass on your opinionated inner-self and go see this one. You will appreciate you did.

I am a fan of these Superhero movies. Marvel has taken them and made them fun to see. They do not take themselves seriously and I think that is the battle when you take over-the-top comic book characters and put them on film. Zack Snyder landed the prize in getting a contract to run the DC Universe. It all started with Batman vs Superman, and it seemed to me that DC choose the wrong guy to carry that torch. Zack wanted us to take these/his superheroes so seriously that we actually got bored. I could not fathom that the 2 greatest comic book superheroes in one movie could ever make one bored, but Zack did it. It should have been a no-brainer of a successful flick, but noooo, it was friggin boring. So instead of DC firing his ass, they gave him another chance and got help from Joss Whedon who had to replace him in the final stages of making the movie. I am not sure how much credit to give Joss, but it worked. Justice League is still not Marvel level of enjoyment, but it was a vast improvement over the Bat vs Sup failure. DC take note of what director Taika Waititi did in Thor: Ragnarok and make that your measuring stick for future movies. There is hope DC Universe lovers. Wonder Woman was the start and now Justice League gives us fans hope. In the end, we all want superhero powers, but the dilemma is could we handle it and would we use it in a selfless manner like these icons in the comic world? I believe it is this element that brings us to the theater to watch these type of movies. We live in a troubled time and we all wish we had these superheroes to give the world a better tomorrow. Justice League is the fantasy we need and want and it is why we pay to see it. Just take your thinking cap off and enjoy the ride.

This movie was one of the more enjoyable Marvel movies ever made and when I got out I wanted to know who played one of my favorite new characters in the movie. What I found was that the director Taika Waititi voiced not just that character but another one as well. Then I found out he also co-wrote and directed the movie I was enamored with recently, "What We Do In Shadows". Shadows is genius in all the silliness it portrays in a mockumentary about a house of vampires. So I was elated to also read that they are planning a part 2. Yesterday I did know who Taika Waititi was, now I want to watch every project he is involved with. Thor: Ragnarok is the funniest superhero movie ever made, and while you will not slap your leg and laugh uncontrollably, you will smile and chuckle throughout. If you like these type of movies, this is the one for you. If you never seen one of them before, perhaps this is the one to take the chance with. Best superhero movie eva! Taika Waititi, you are now and forever on my radar.

While there are elements of this movie that are lacking, Denzel is pure Denzel and it is such a privilege to be alive during his career. He is just so good sometimes like in this role of Roman J. Israel, Esq. that you come away from his performances with a piece of him attached to your subconscious. He takes a character that lacks charisma and gives him so much that you want to know him, root for him and be his ally. Bravo Mr Washington, bravo!

The best quality of a movie is how it can play with your emotions. The empathy you can have for the characters is up to both the actors and the director. This movie pulls you emotional in so many directions, that you do not know whether to cry or laugh, get pissed off or clap your hands. While Frances McDormand is truly the star of this movie, and she deserves so much praise, it is both Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson that really shine bigger than life for their roles in this film. They have grown so much as actors over the years from comedic roles to this shows me their range and talent. I also have to give major props to Writer/ Director Martin McDonagh who gave life to this film by giving us some levity in between the tragic elements of the story. There is some serious deep stuff thrown at the movie goer, but letting us smile and laugh at such characters as Momma Dixon, (Sandy Martin), Frances's ex-husband, (John Hawke) and his young innocent girlfriend, (Samara Weaving) was the cornerstone of what makes this movie great. Even the subplots of Peter Dinklage's character, Kerry Condon who plays the sheriff's wife, and Abbie Cornish' marketing/ad guy let us feel so much in their scenes is a mark of truly brilliant storytelling. The director really made his actors' performances come to life, and as a movie goer, I am glad I choose to see it. In closing, I do not give movies a 10 score. This is as close to a 10 as I will recognize. There is always room for improvement, so to give it a perfect score means that perfection was achieved. That no one can top it and never will is just not my thinking. So I leave a little space for more. 9.49 is where I am at. Great and memorable, but not legendary.

I saw this movie the day it came out and it has taken me this long to recover from this atrocity of "art". I say "art" because anyone that gives this a positive review sees it as such. While my favorite food is pizza, there is plenty of bad pizza in the world. This "art" is one of the worst of it's kind. If I wasn't so curious to see where this movie was going in the madness it presented over the length of film, then I would've left the theater early. I can only think of one movie that I wanted to leave the theater early more, and that was Eraserhead. If it wasn't for the sheer beauty of Jennifer Lawrence, I would give this movie a "0". I find it very hard to give anything a "0", so that is my excuse for this one. This is not a spoiler so much as a warning, the last 30 minutes of chaos is very hard to watch just to get to the ending. So beware of this if you are brave enough to see it because of all those positive reviews. If I can change one person's mind, then this review served it's purpose.

This was a very disturbing and uncomfortable film to watch about an extreme stalker. I was not fond of this character in which this story was about, and that is due to Aubrey Plaza's acting. That might seem like a criticism, but in fact her acting is so damn good. Albeit I am squirming at times by the decisions she makes throughout the movie. Audrey does her job so well, I do not know I care about her character, Ingrid, until the end of the movie when tears suddenly well up in my eyes. This movie was almost bordering on the horror genre and as a big fan, I loved that about it. The final scene left me wanting more, and that is what each one of us wants when we drop the bills down for a movie. I would nominate Audrey Plaza for an Oscar right now if I had a vote because this person she created will stay with me for a very long time, in a most creepy, shivering type of memory.

What a crapfest. I was 15 minutes in and I was hoping it would just end. I paid, and I do not like leaving early, but if there was ever a movie I wanted to walk out on it was this one. This is simply a video game from the perspective of Hardcore Henry. Yes, I knew what it was about. I had seen plenty of sneak peaks over the last couple of months to peak my interest, but after a while you can only take so much of that kind of shaky camera perspective. This movie makes the Blair Witch Project genre of reality perspective films look like still footage in comparison. There are a lot of positive reviews of this movie, but I have to imagine it is from those people who love this type of video game massacre. I do not mind violence in movies, but to kill at a rate of 10 people per minute of film scene is crazy. Henry is mute and so the majority of the film he is just a killing spree being guided by the mysterious Jimmy. I won't spoil the movie for you, but if you are not a video game junkie that blood lusts, then you might want to go watch a less violent movie like Friday the 13th. At least your eyes will be able to focus on the murderous demon and his piles of death.

Zack Snyder who's previous movies built his reputation including 300, Watchmen, and **** Punch and thus landed him the Man of Steel gig. Not sure that was enough pedigree to land him the entire DC franchise whether it be as Director or Producer, yet someone had faith in him. Unlike 300 which was a breakthrough hit, his movies were highly criticized as missing their mark with the audience. I am one to give a man a chance, and felt you could not go wrong with such a great comic book heroes like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. As I sat watching this movie, I was shocked how antsy I was feeling as boredom was slowly seeping in. Constant screen changes between the characters was annoying and never left me feeling like I was getting a chance to just let the movie pull me in. Anticipation to see something, anything **** causing me to get annoyed more and more as the movie went on. This movie was simply boring until the point in which we finally have some time of battle going on. Everything up to that point, especially Lex Luthor and his hatred never manifests itself in the story telling. We are left to have empathy towards all the feelings everyone has because we know the history. In Man of Steel, Superman destroyed Metropolis as well as Gotham, so Batman has a grudge with an Alien who acts like a self-appointed savior of Earth. Bruce Wayne/Batman is rich, so he can spend any amount of money to build his tech, weapons and protective bat suit. Superman doesn't need anything but his powers because of the Earth's gravity makes him this way. Bruce Wayne is smart and this is what has always separated him in DC comic book lore from the other heroes. He is much like Iron Man is to Marvel, except he doesn't have something engineered to keep Mr. Wayne alive. So this movie is built around the premise that Bruce needs to take down Superman. Yet, he is way too intelligent to let his emotions play him this way, but we, the audience go along this journey and never really feel Bruce's angst towards Superman no matter how hard the movie wants us to feel it. Whether you blame the director or the actors, someone has to take the blame. Take a side, Team Superman or Team Batman. Not so easy when you know that both heroes are exactly that, heroes. You can't tell us to root against the two like they are presidential candidates or sports teams. Hard to make the audience believe that when you fill the movie with so much fluff that the time we get are two combatants together it is because one of the superheroes is blackmailed to do so. I really believe this movie could have worked if we had some Marvel humor to lighten things up from time to time instead of the ultra serious tone this movie has. There is nothing funny about this movie and that makes it one big joke. Marvel knows their audience. They let us stay to the credits role away just to get a teaser to the next movie. How many people will stay to the end of the credits for this one? Don't. There is nothing, but movie credentials and unless you need to know the key grips and the music scores, then you are wasting your time. Much as I felt in watching a boring movie that should have been the greatest superhero movie of all time. As a kid I felt that DC was the stronger brand than Marvel, but that was all **** last night. Snyder leaves me with no confidence for his upcoming DC movies like Justice League 1 & 2. If the people at Warner Bros. wants to save their franchise, take the keys out of Snyder's hands and let someone else take the helm. Calling JJ Abrams would be the place to start.

When I was younger my friends and I had a rule that if a critic gave a movie a 4 out of 4 star rating, it was a artsy movie only a movie critic would enjoy. The Witch is that type of movie. It is a period piece, maybe back to the pilgrim days, and sometimes the dialogue gets confusing in trying to keep the movie authentic to that period. These are harden religious people and they talk the talk with everything they do. With that said, some of what is said is lost on me. If I had a DVR, I would have rewound it several times just to try and figure out what was being said. While this might be a problem, it really isn't because you get the idea of what is happening. It just happens at a pace that is turtle-like. You are not really sure where they are going with any of it, and even when it ends abruptly, you have to ask yourself, WTF? I love creative movies, and this movie is creative, but it really fails as a horror movie for a real horror movie fan. The only thing that is creepy is the 2 young kids and a bunny. I am not sure that was the intention, but that was the way it came across. If you really want to see it, then wait a few months until it is available online or through Netflix or Amazon. Save your money.

The reason I liked this movie was because it wasn't afraid to make fun of itself and other "teen" movie stereotypes along the way. It wasn't outrageously funny, but it wasn't dull either. It kept a nice lighthearted pace with some belly laughs in between. If I had laughed more, I would have gone up in my rating, but it's a solid movie that is worth seeing.

If you go into this movie with the intent to be educated then you should not have paid to see this movie. Go rent something or watch the Artist. This movie was made to take the concept of Superbad and give it some steroids with a 2 hour energy drink chaser. I do not think it is the greatest movie by any means nor is it anything special in the way other comedies have been of this ilk. I was entertained though. Of course I am a guy, and the breasts did add to the overall likeability of Project X. I will admit that much, but I found the ride fun and the knowledge of what was to come enticing to see. I wanted to see the craziness to keep going. I needed to see the total chaos that I saw in the sneak previews. The spoiler was in my head and that made me want to go through it and not think about how bad the acting was or how the director didn't care to really care fill the screen with thought provoking dialogue. The movie was meant to take our inner child that tells us to let go and have fun, and take it for a ride. My party days are long gone, and I do not think about it at all nor do I really miss it. Yet, it was nice to see what it would be like if I could turn back the clock and just totally immerse myself in that moment. This movie is not to be taken seriously, it is meant to be enjoyed for the party we all wish we could experience just once in our lives, and live to talk about.
