The meanderingness works towards the show’s view of family life as perpetually catch-as-catch-can; in all, “United We Fall” may not in its first two installments represent a startlingly new way forward for the sitcom, but it fulfills the brief pleasantly enough.

United We Fall has all the right pieces. ... But those pieces just don’t coalesce into a show that rises above its tired premise.

United We Fall isn't very good overall — at least not in the two episodes sent to critics (only two episodes, despite having completed production months ago) — but both episodes feature at least a couple of those moments that seem specific and authentic.

This paint-by-numbers series has everything you expect in a lousy ’90s comedy but don’t want.

Not suitable for children, but not even funny or entertaining for adults. Jokes are boring and predictable and the acting is horrible. Skip it!

Absolutely horrible!! It is painful to watch this cast try so hard to be funny and fall flat on their face over and over. Especially when some of them like Sasso and Curtain have done such great work in the past. Why they would choose to be a part of something as poorly written as this show confounds me. I actually felt embarrassed for them, like I was watching their career die in front of my eyes. The cast seems to have no chemistry whatsoever, and while I hate to say anything bad about a child, the girl who plays the oldest child is possibly the worst child actor I have ever seen. Her delivery of every line was painfully fake, and every scene she was in had me wincing like listening to nails on a chalkboard. Nothing about this show feels organic or believable. The story lines are ridiculous and pointless. The whole thing was just so bizarre and awful...I am shocked the network canceled Single Parents and Bless This Mess, which were actually halfway decent shows, and made this stinking turd of a show instead. Time to flush the toilet.
