The Umbrella Academy

Funny, sweet, outrageous; third time out it once again puts on a brolly good show.

The six-episode conclusion of The Umbrella Academy is a definite STREAM IT.

Even if a lot of Season 3 feels like downtime, it’s still largely enjoyable downtime, thanks to a cast that understands their characters and how to play off of one another.

Perhaps eight episodes would have been more effective in creating a tightly coiled season with more streamlined stories and less meandering between major story turns. In the end, it feels like a very densely plotted season that doesn’t mind sacrificing the potency of emotional moments trying to pay everything off.

For a show with an occasionally impressive exterior (the interplay between Klaus and Ben gets an impressive-looking added wrinkle), the emotional heartbeat underneath is largely absent. Part of that comes from being stretched thin enough that characters without a well-established core are often left flailing, but it’s mostly due to the show’s continued affinity for the reset button.

When The Umbrella Academy first started in 2019, it felt genuinely fresh and conceptually exciting. Now it’s just another bullish superhero series that uses shock value to get attention.

Netflix already has A Series of Unfortunate Events and could have easily titled The Umbrella Academy, its new series, A Series of Pointless Scenes. ... It probably doesn't help that the writing is superficial and the acting suboptimal, or that the whole thing relies on an ostensible quirkiness and viewers' innate sense that they've seen echoes of this many other places.

this is a show most people either love or hate, it has sci-fi themes and involves time travel and that may appeal to some and not others. I personally lvoed this show but if the above themes dont interest you I doubt you'll enjoy it.

Another generally entertaining deconstruction of the Superhero. Then I got to season three and Vanya out of the blue said I have always been Vincent? What? No build up or character development whatsoever? It pulled me right out story. They gave the character Vanya a whole star crossed lesbian lovers arc and it worked, but no attempt to work Vincent in and make that change make sense.

A quirky absurdist take on the superhero genre is a refreshing rebellion against the hoarding constraints of the marvel corporations public dominion of successful superhero adaptation . Umbrella academy makes a good case often times for it's suspension of conventional tropes buy I get vexed by how often it forgets itself by either leaning in too hard on it's comic book orgin or just forgetting driving arcs out of convenience. The second season is by far the best one,it has the charaters at their most interesting as well as repackaging the reoccurring "doomsday" plot really well without it becoming mundane, predictable or boring. Season three however is an awkward joyless uneven ride pushed by stiff performances and exhausting arcs. It's very disappointing seeing how much it has regressed in quality from the cgi,performances & writing .

Season 1 was fun, even if they woke-i-fied a fair chunk of the story. Season 2 was hard to watch because the forced woke garbage was becoming more important than telling a good story. Stopped on episode 2 of Season 3 because the fun elements from the first season are now completely replaced with woke garbage. Viktor? Give me a break. There are now a total of 5 black and LGBTQ characters with zero blonde blue eyed out of the 12 to 16 Umbrella children. This agenda is unwatchable. Congratulations.

OMG...season 3 was vomit. Elliot Page (VIKTOR) ruined it BAD. The plot was this..... 5: **** NEED TO SAVE THE WORLD AGAIN... Viktor: **** know that im really a man dont you.... 5: girl..emmm **** da fk cares... **** we focus ON THE PLOT PLZ? Luther: HEY...VANYA... we need to save the... V: MY NAME IS VIKTOR OK? IM A HE NOT A SHE... ****...whats ur problem? Allison: hey we really need to save the world..AGAIN AN... V: THIS IS WHO I **** REALLY **** A MAN OK? A MAN! **** STORYIS ABOUT THE END OF THE WORLD OK? NOT ABOUT POLITICAL ****??!! and thats it. this show is trash with bags of vomit inside of it.
