It’s so good, so thought provoking and so wildly entertaining that I’ve already started watching it again.

As the series begins to challenge the very nature of the Lord of Dreams, it also challenges its audience with a show that becomes increasingly provocative with each episode. By the end of Volume 1, “The Sandman” has proved that despite this being a path to the end of the series, it will end with a bang instead of a whimper.

Achei uma adaptação excelente. Muito fiel aos quadrinhos e um dos maiores motivos para q eu continue na Netflix.

Idiots are panning this series because they are offended by POC and LGBTQ+ being visible in media. Let me actually tell you about the show, not the politics. Sandman is very smartly written. Like in the comics, Gaiman uses the Hero's Journey to explore themes common to all people. Themes of purpose, ambition, belonging, and mortality are all covered in this first season of The Sandman, among others. Fans of the original comic might be disappointed in one or two episodes that don't go as dark as the comics, but this is a new medium. Things that worked in the comics won't so much in television. I feel that Gaiman and the producers do a fine job of updating the story and leaning into the strengths of this new format. The series stays true to the original intention of the comic, and that's what most fans are going to be concerned with. Those who are new to the story needn't worry about how well they are able to keep up, either. They'll enjoy getting to know all these characters from the start, in a series that's as relevant today as the comic was in the 90's. By now, Sandman's been approved for a season 2. So buckle in, it's going to be a wild ride.

It is transportive, playful at times, and certainly grand. But above all, it is dark.

While the beginning of The Sandman‘s final season is a bit of a exposition-crammed slog, it does show Dream entering a story that feels like it’ll have a lot of possibilities.

Despite its credentials as “a comic strip for intellectuals” (as novelist Norman Mailer put it), the result is very middling, neither dream nor nightmare, just the vague reverie you have when you’re hungry and lunch is still an hour away.

Most of the show, instead, is a combination of Dream’s portentous proclamations and trippy imagery that make the plot hard to follow. It leaves The Sandman feeling inert; a fan service project without a fandom to serve.

It’s weighed down by helter-skelter storytelling that borders on the aimless—and, consequently, renders it a snooze.

The perfect Adaption. The character has grown with the time which is fitting since he is an endless. Enjoyed from begging to end. Get 5 immensely enjoyable story arcs with characters that are thoroughly realized and just a joy to be around. Made by fans for fans. My favorite show of the year.

It's complicated. I read the graphic novels in preparation and loved them. I'm not a comic book person and rarely go for graphic novels, though this was a welcome exception. It just seems like so much more than the typical fare. There's so much to love about the Sandman show and I think Netflix deserves a lot of kudos for adapting the unadaptable, but there are some misses too. For the most part, the cast was spot on. I did not care for Desire, because I think the show concentrated too much on the LGBT stuff. It would make sense for Desire to be non-binary, but that brings a lot of unwelcome, identity politics garbage. S2E3 for example, concentrates to much on that and not the actual story. Desire is a force of nature, not an orientation/gender. DEI reared its ugly head and they had to force that into much of the show. I think it was distracting and unnecessary, though the actor who played Desire was amazing. Dream was perfectly cast. I can think of no other actor who could play Dream and it would seem, from interviews I've see, Tom took this role very seriously and it shows. And who can deny that anything isn't better if Gwendoline Christy is in it? Same with Death, Destiny, and Delirium. Perfectly cast and each of these actors deserves any accolades. I can't wait to see them in other things. Honorable mention, Puck, Nuala, and most importantly and my favorite is Luciene. Shout out to Hob Gadling as well as this was, by far, my favorite episode. Depression was just bland, but they also didn't give her much to do, same with Destruction. No shade to the actors, they just didn't make an impression. I really did not care for the Vortex and that was the weakest part of the series and unfortunately the weakest acting. Episodes broke even for me with the best being the Hob Gadling episode and the worst being S2E3 as stated. I didn't hate the ending, as the actress who played Death is both amazingly talented and incredibly easy on the eyes. The only problem is that the episode made little sense in the show (can't remember if this happened in the graphic novel, as it's been a while). I liked it, even if I didn't care for Sextant at all (both story and actor), but it seemed out of place. This would have been better earlier in the show to give some more context to Death. Overall, I enjoyed it and would have liked to seen it spread out over say 5 season rather than 2, but that's Netflix for you. Why invest in a show people like when you can start and cancel 5 more shows for that price, right?

An alright retelling of my favorite comic, which is mostly loyal to the comics. The casting of this show is hilarious; as if it was done by college students who were told that ‘diversity’ just means ‘add more black people’. Race swapping is irrelevant for such a story’s plot, but very interesting how chinese, indian, and middle eastern countries just don’t exist so much in this new Sandman universe. Apparently half of america is black and the other minorities just don’t exist. This point is nothing that affects my score though; just something hilarious i wanted to point out My opinion now is the same as it was 15 years ago; Sandman is nye impossible to adapt to a tv series or movie. Maybe HBO could have pulled it off, but not these showrunners

The first season is very good, but the second is practically useless, on the same level as some episodes of GoT. Who cares about Wanda?? NOBODY, it's just trash ****. And, if someone claims that it's because the character isn't in the story, Lucienne isn't there either, and she's interesting and important to the story.

Due to so many attempts to emphasize that everyone is gay, I'm not even able to comment on anything else... I don't see where such a need for it comes from...
