Wasted potential. The story itself has some very intresting beats. I came in here thinking this is gonna be different since it's based on a D&D campaign and the main characters will be in an actual danger of dying. I was wrong. After the second bait and switch i just couldn't care for any emotional moment when it came to any death. Turned very predictable very quick. Forced diversity. D&D is a setting with various races with different degrees of intresting traits. This show just makes every diverse character black or light skinned. And it's mostly Elves gnomes and some very rare outliers. And almost everybody's a homosexual. Only four straight couples in 4 seasons of show. The precentages are all sorta whack. Very mid animation.When you see AMAZON,you expect budget. This show's animation is very weak. Boring main cast.A very strong lack of ACTUAL diversity in the main cast 3 Elves(these wind ashari look exactly like wood elves let's be honest),2 gnomes,1 basic barbarian class looking guy(a half giant) and a dude. Not to mention the way they look and the way they fight is also very basic.This is what i'd expect from a first time campaign. To put you into perspective there are around 45 official races in dungeons and dragons. In the 4 seasons i personally watched there's barely any of them. The potential was there. But the writing is predictable,the forced diversity makes it even worse,the characters are weak and not fun to follow around for most of the time. For gods sake the only guy i could take seriously by the end of this show was the supposed joke character of Scanlan Shorthalt. I rooted for the opposition to put vox machina down most of the time . Better villains with better motivations. Can't recommend this.

One the better fantasy animated series translated from a tabletop RPG. The earlier episodes feel more like an actual RPG experience with friends, while later episodes focus more on relationship drama.

Beautiful animation, char. are awesome ...but THE MESSAGE&WOKE& **** ruined it

Such an excellent show. I loved season three and I think it is a fantastic place to leave the show and the characters for the time being.

It gets really old really fast, it has very little to say, and the stories are pretty dull.

Definitely not for anyone under 17its a great shows but no 12+ should be watching it. As there are sexaul scenes and sexaul talk. They show them naked and having sex so yeah 17+ or just 18+ but maybe a 16 year old can watch it if they look away or is trusted to skip those parts.

It's generic, and doesn't make any attempts to separate itself from the rest of the genre. The party members all slot into their given roles without any attempts to stand out from other characters we've already become familiar with. The plot feels like it was lifted from "high fantasy for dummies" and the spin on that was cursing? Which, to be fair, isn't new either. It doesn't completely bomb, if you're already a fan of the source material, or vanilla dnd.

I have zero complaints. This show is always interesting, always fun and always hysterical. I've watch every season 4 times and it never gets old.

Just start watching this series after it's rating. And gotta accept i enjoyed watching it. Every episodes had that cliffhanger is so intrigued me. Every characters have their own unique way of expressing it. Likeable characters. and had some annoyed moment not because of the flaw in story because i gotcarried over the characters. This series has so much entertainment not have scenes think about it over , justsit and enjoy the show.

I found this series fun for the first few episodes. Then all the shortcomings started to emerge. It's generic. That's it's biggest flaw. While sprayed with the occasional "The Boys" humor it all feels already used. I know it's generic in some areas due to D&D foundations, but that doesn't excuse it for being boring and predictable much too often. The animations are nice at moments, but also very uneven. The fact that the dragons are animated in a completely different way doesn't sit well with me, to be honest. It was an okay watch, but nothing spectacular. If you're a D&D fun, you'd probably give it a bit higher rating.

A rare 10. Highly entertaining with something for everyone. The animation is some of the best I've ever seen. There are some references to D&D mechanics for those familiar with that. And the voice acting and characters are very enjoyable.

A relatively engaging series that brings so much of what people love about high fantasy adventures to an animated television series. While the show struggles with some aspects of its writing, it's got enough heart to keep most viewers invested. Vox Machina's lowest points, I've found, are in its one-on-one character interactions. While occasionally, aspects of some individual interactions between characters are well-conceived, a noticeable amount of dialogue seems to be written in this contrived way that feels disappointingly inorganic. Additionally, the lines and behaviours of some characters are utterly cringeworthy - Scanlan the gnome, in particular, is utterly detestable and annoying in moments when it seems he was not written to be, making many scenes with him loathsome and deserving of being skipped over. The main allure of Vox Machina is that the show bleeds passion and heart - the world these characters inhabit is quite magical and colourful, and is a feast for the eyes. On top of that, as cliché as the phrase is, there really is a certain "je ne sais quoi" about this show that elevates it above the sum of its parts, even for those who have never heard of Critical Role, Vox Machina, or any of the voice actors who partook in the Dungeons and Dragons campaign that inspired this show. At its lowest points, Vox Machina feels like a niche vanity project; at its peak, however, the show is rife with the kind of vivacity, character and passion that made shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender redefine the quality of animated fantasy. Additionally, the poignant stories and overall likability of some of the characters in the show (such as Pike, in my opinion) allowed me to see past some of what some might consider poor writing, and deem this show as worthy of watching in its entirety. The Legend of Vox Machina is not for everyone - however, if you do have a love of high fantasy and can tolerate a bit of corniness and lacklustre writing, the show will likely succeed in holding your attention and win your heart.

The efforts of overpaid TTRPG nerds and overworked Korean animators give us a juvenile saga that aims for subversion and settles for irreverence. Its like throwing a TV-MA on Shrek.

Turned it off after the first 10 minutes. Why does our entertainment industry feel so compelled to send messages like these? Otherwise, it seemed a great storyline. What a shame.

This show took me by surprise, I had never listened to the DnD campaign by Critical Role so I went in completely blind. This show has been hilarious, entertaining and scratches an itch for dnd / high fantasy / and comedy. If you have Amazon Prime, this is very much worth your time.

The setting and the characters are 10. It mixes humor and maturity in a perfect way. The animation is good, with above average action scenes but horrible CGI at times (mixing 2D and CGI animation always ends up the same way). The biggest problem I see is that it gets cliché and predictable at times, especially at the end of the arcs.

First of all - I know nothing about Critical Role and D&D, so my review refers only to cartoon. And I must say it was a blast! Excellent composition of humour, action and fights, interesting story and likeable characters. I'm looking forward to next seasons.

Some professional reviewers must have had a sizeable donation from Uncle Amazon, before putting in their scores, it seems. That's the only reason I can think of for grown adults giving something so basic, such glowing reviews. If you're a kid between the age of 12-17, you might really enjoy Vox Machina. The extremely cliche, trope-driven story and characters might not put you off and the script that substitutes swearing for jokes, might make you laugh a little. If you're an adult or just a mature kid, Vox Machina is unwatchable after a few minutes. The artwork is decent, if not stellar and the animation is low-level Saturday morning cartoon, but it's passable. Voice acting is also passable, there's some bad accents in there (but that's par for the course for the genre) but the cast do their best with the bad script. Unfortunately, however, the whole thing really comes down to that script and it is a stinker. It's beyond childish and whilst a similar project, Invincible, has a great time taking tropes and subverting them, and using harsh language and mature themes and using them with subtlety and wit to craft a show that's entertaining to all audiences, Vox has clearly been created by a different level of writer. Perhaps one that hasn't yet made it out of primary school?

Can't even begin to describe how much I love Critical Role the stream and the cast. But their stories are something that is worth experiencing. I wish everyone would've had time to watch the entire stream, so the TV show would've been the most treasured treat this year!

"The Legend of Vox Machina" (S01, 12 eps, 1/2hr, Amazon) is a slickly produced animated series that reminds one of "Castlevania", however, though the show centers on teen characters I think the story is really kiddie-oriented, it's a real letdown. It's full of stereotypes, clichés, and it's predictable - just the right mix of elements for your pre-teen. I really wanted to like this, especially since Covid has brought us so much stinking messes of films and series, but this didn't break through for me, just more of the same type of wasted effort as so many others.

Pro+ + adult cartoon nudity/blood + good storyteling + interesting characters + character progresion + animation and combat choreography cons - -short only 12 episodes give me more!!! after DOTA,Invincible,Castlevania is Vox Machina next fantastic cartoon for a adult audiences

After episode 4 it's apparent this show is going to be amazing. A bit of avatar a bit of invincible this show goes the distance.

A refreshing take on medieval fantasy, though it suffers from some insufferable and painfully forced woke characters. The main cast is intriguing but often suffers from dull cliches. In time and with more character-building episodes, this has the potential to be an amazing show.

This is the best adult cartoon ever. Finally, someone thought of doing a collaboration with the best writing fantasy stories from Critical Role.) The plot, although banal, is exciting, it is interesting to study the world of this universe. I think the series has a great future. For my taste, this series is already more interesting than the 1st and 2nd seasons of Dota: Dragon's Blood.

I imagine that one's reaction to TLoVM may depend on one's familiarity with Critical Role. I came into CR towards the end of campaign 1 (Vox Machina), and have been watching ever since, so I'm quite familiar with the whole CR vibe. TLoVM is light and fun, but it tries a bit too hard with the potty humor and swearing. The presence of those things is no surprise given how the CR crew plays D&D, but they really dialed it up on the animated series. It feels somewhat forced and pandering as a result. The show is at its best when it focuses on the story and the characters' motivations rather than just going for cheap laughs. I'm glad I waited till episode 3 to write this because that episode promises better things to come. The story starts to get interesting when we learn something important about Percival's past and see his dark side truly emerge. And kudos to Taliesin Jaffe (Percival) whose voice work is excellent in this. The whole cast are professionals, of course, but Taliesin's work really stood out to me -- very mature and nuanced. The art style is generic, though it's executed well enough. My feeling about this is probably affected by the fact that I recently finished Netflix's "Arcane" which was fantastic -- a visual (and storytelling!) delight -- and raises the bar for adult animated storytelling. With 7 more episodes to go in this season, I may revise my review, but as it stands, this is worth checking out for fans of adult animation. Just be prepared for a heavy does of adult-yet-puerile humor and language. I hope later episodes tone that down a bit as the story progresses since the frequent use thereof tends to make the story less engaging.

Woke, written by edge lords, and generally formulaic. Sure they pepper it with swear words, and the occasional flash of nudity, but that is just to earn the adult tag. The cool trailer happens in the first minute, and never reaches that height again in the first three episodes. The art is good, as is the voice acting. But bad stories, woke agenda (especially in a fantasy setting), and juvenile antics from supposed adults robs this of any entertainment.
