From the picturesque settings and costuming to the use of written on-screen text that helps the audience keep varied deals, people and schemes outlined, the show unfolds like a dazzling web of turmoil, keeping viewers sucked in over its eight episodes. Entertaining — with hijinks, plots and gory violence — “The Gentlemen” irons out the kinks that plagued its film predecessor.

Like most of Guy Ritchie’s material when he’s in caper and kooky criminals mode, The Gentlemen is a romp. Chippy, funny, stylish, cartoonishly violent, touched with mild absurdity.

i liked the movie, but think i enjoyed the show even more. it’s bombastic, funny, tense, & dark. in true guy ritchie style there are lots of moving parts to the plot. it’s dialogue rich, but even more importantly, so are its performances. it’s got that addictive pithy punch & cool aesthetic. kaya & daniel are my faves after theo james - the true lynchpin of the show & what grounds it. he’s flexing his acting chops here & his charisma knows no bounds.

It’s cheeky, irresistible and undemanding from start to finish. Hopefully, there will be a Season 2.

The cast, led by the frenemy-flirtatious Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, is game. And hey, there’s only a little racism this time around. .... Surprisingly entertaining and pleasantly forgettable series.

The Ritchie flourishes are irritating – especially on-screen text cutely translating the drugs speak, so when a character offers “£4m sweetened with a bar’s worth of White Widow super cheese”, up pops the explainer that this refers to a million pounds’ worth of “rocket-fuelled marijuana”. But if you can get past this, The Gentleman is a fun caper.

A major miscalculation that never justifies its derivative existence, it suggests that the British auteur needs to finally let go of the past.

The plot is more comprehensible, there’s less casual racism and antisemitism in the script, and Scodelario gets the heaps of screen time she deserves in a variation on Dockery’s underwritten role. But midway through season, Ritchie’s signature affectations get tiresome, and the format predictable.

Guy Ritchie at his best, with stellar turns by the ensemble cast, especially Theo James

Entertaining take on the narco gangster world of England which consists of participants ranging from posh lords, to businessmen and working class people. Acting performances stand out, pacing was decent and the blend of comedic action and drama works well. However, the clever concept was executed with linear simplicity rather than complex well layered writing. Everything the show sets up for its finale is wasted on a rather dull continuation of a rehashed and retold story.

Playing into audiences love for luxury, a series that deals with old money getting involved in the criminal world makes alot of economic sense. The film deals in mostly stereotypes but most egregiously with the idea of a super crime family that only produces and sells weed. This detracts the most from whatever realism the series approaches, yet the film relies on this belief the most at the end. The series is quite cynical about religion but not so about the upper class. It has some family elements that are pleasant reminding us of richies much better work Rocknrolla. Overall if you like ritchie films it's a pleasant watch just don't expect anything impressive.

Watchable but pretty bad. The good scenes, general ideas and some details are revamped from Guy Ritchie's movies. Kinda like a postmortem hommage. The rest is the usual modern nonsensical crapfest, with shallow scripts, characters changing from one episode to the other, long empty dialogues and nothing interesting overall
