The series' grim tone and overall look of a grimy world in perpetual need of dusting or wiping is a long way from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and closer to Japanese movies like The Grudge. [12 Sep 2005, p.45]

Padalecki and Ackles are hunky, funny and a joy to watch.

Supernatural. Season 1. The road is just beginning. The beginning of a magnificent series about two brothers who destroy monsters, ghosts and other **** The monsters themselves are terribly cool until the two Winchester brothers appear in the city.

Ackles and Padalecki are good-looking, yes, get to drive a '67 Chevy and will undoubtedly run into a lot of really hot women in peril, but "Supernatural" works. It's just serious enough, just hip enough and, as advertised, more scary than imagined.

Los Angeles Times
A loud, believably unbelievable ghost story, a different ghost from classic lore guest-starring each week.

Cleveland Plain Dealer
The creep factor runs high, and it had better in a series called "Supernatural." But the series also has its overly familiar and just-plain-silly moments.

Genre fans used to the emotional depth and extraordinary storytelling of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" will find that this show is not even remotely in "Buffy's" or "Angel's" league.

Kansas City Star
These brothers are like most WB stars and starlets, pretty faces with negligible theatrical skills.

This is definitely one of my favorite shows. The way this show takes all of the lore/fairytales/legends/etc and puts them in a new light has a creativity that alot of shows are severely lacking. While there are a few episodes that are rather cringworthy as all shows do, they are few and far between, but when they're bad, they're really bad! The storyline running thru each season is well connected, building a believable reality that makes it easy to suspend your disbelief and enjoy the ups and downs of the Winchesters adventures, and the show running for 15 seasons is a testimony to that.

Right, so the first season of supernatural is awfully dull. It takes awhile to really get going and overall is really dull. But hey, it gets the job done. Sets up the setting and takes us on the road as we follow the crazy antics of the Winchester brothers.

Over the seasons I go from 6-9. Supernatural is really entertaining and has both humor and action in it. What I like the most about this show is probably the characters you meet through the series. They all have some variety and as you enter the fourth and fifth season you should get hooked. A lot of the side characters bring a lot of humor to the show but there's also left space for the more emotional moments. This is for you if: you like an entertaining show that might leave you with a buck load of feels. A show with humor, action and a lot of episodes. This might not be for you if: you are looking for horror and ghost stories that'll actually scare you. Supernatural does have some "scary" moments but I don't feel it's a "core value".

Painful to watch. This show is full of forced macho swagger and bad acting, not to mention cliche "kill the monster" tropes that the fantasy-horror genre has moved past a long time ago. I've tried to get into this show a couple of times but I just do not understand the fandom

Supernatural, a show that reminds you just how good Buffy the Vampire Slayer was and how this consistently fails to live up to the legacy it left. Not only are its various plot threads boring and predictable, but it has assembled two of the least likeable protagonists in a long time, bumbling their way from trope to trope without any self-awareness or humour. This is essentially a Twilight TV show that is worth watching only if enjoy the occasional good special effect.
