Scott Prendergast's script ably sets up the mother-son dynamic that is the lifeblood of the show. Harden and Astin do the rest, alternately annoying and looking out for each other. As they bicker, they find a pleasant rhythm that carries us through the case at hand.

The jury’s still out on whether the procedural part of So Help Me Todd will ever be a strong part of the show. But the chemistry between Harden and Astin, along with the deep story possibilities that the Wright family could generate, more than makes up for the lack of procedural heft.

I'm so mad at CBS for canceling this really great show! The reality competition shows bring out the worst in human nature & game shows are often boring! It's sad that this well acted show is gone!

Clever and witty. This show is a gem. Plus MGH's wardrobe is incredible to look at.

"So Help Me Todd," a new series on CBS, is nothing if not a multitasker—it quacks like a comedy, walks like "Law & Order," swims like a social satire and flies, albeit awkwardly, past the pigeonholes. ... I was grateful for the third [episode]: It seemed to indicate the show was back on its freshly lain track and headed toward becoming whatever it's intended to become—"Murder, They Wrote," "We, the Jury," "Everybody Hates Todd," "This Might Be Us" or, better yet, something utterly original.

Light legal drama that’s neither funny enough nor dramatic enough to make much of an impression.

The series’ framework depends on Joan and Todd learning to get along, but their constant bickering and dripping disdain makes their detentes less than persuasive. If “So Help Me Todd” can land on a consistent approach to its premise, it might settle into something more balanced. If not, though, it’ll remain more confusing than truly entertaining.

Even by the standard of CBS dramas intended for partial attention, So Help Me Todd is flimsy. ... That the two lead performances are as heightened as they are, despite how bland the storytelling is around them, just makes Astin and Harden stand out all the more — never really for the worse, but never for the better.

Great unusual story w adult children + parent in normal interactions. That’s unique in TV today. Funny, engaging, imaginative. . Well defined characters including the supporting roles. Excellent cast. Highly Recommend!!

What a worthless network TV show. Inane dialog, poor acting, WOKE framework...everything you'd expect with trash the entertainment industry is trying to fee us. Our view is "skip this piece of rubbish."
