It’s the perfect balance of heart and humor, with some actual bleeding human hearts on display for good measure, Santa Clarita Diet remains the benchmark of comedy horror on TV right now.

The gore level is playful, not scary, and the idea that true love conquers all, even a craving for human flesh, permeates the show. Sheila, Joel and Abby can still live the American dream, it will just taste a bit odd.

Hands down the best American made show that Netflix had, I cancelled my subscription to Netflix over them ending the show on a cliffhanger like the as hats they are.

To be sure, the comedy is initially dark, but there's more to this series than gallows humor. There's a silliness that Olyphant and Barrymore brilliantly pull off with their simple, sweet characters.

The satire isn't especially sharp, but the cast members throw themselves into the grotesque goings-on with full-on commitment.

Santa Clarita Diet is a hit-and-miss dark comedy series that showcases room for growth and potential, if not consistency.

Mind you, vomit can be very funny; it’s just not funny here. Neither is 99% of what goes on in each episode, but there’s a potent sense of bemusement to everything, a fakeness bordering on overt coyness.

Mr. Ball-Legs would undoubtedly be the best thing about becoming undead. You couldn't convince me otherwise x

I liked this. I wanted to like this more because of the stars involved. I'm a fan of the undead genre. I've viewed every moment of TWD universe which is slightly different because It's not written as a comedy like SCD is. I agreed with the review stated as you open this page. Hit and miss. Great funny lines and then some lines that snap you back out of the story and you're reminded you're watching a sit com. I half expect a drum roll after a couple of the lines were delivered. It seems like they gave Timothy Olyphant's character most of those lines. It's not his acting. He's certainly talented. They rely on some stereotypical character instead of character development although that's not unusual. They need to rely on quick assumption of character due to time restraints. There are some good ongoing character gags like Ramona the store clerk. It's enjoyable. Has some really funny lines The potential is fantastic with the outstanding cast. It has many places it can go.
