If you liked Quarterback, then Receiver is a perfect follow-up–and if you didn’t, it’s got a roster far more interesting than the quarterbacks offered. For an avid NFL fan, it’s a great way to kill some time until the fall.

Produced by the same team that delivered last summer’s riveting “Quarterback,” providing the same level of insider access augmented by game footage that is somehow thrilling even though we know the outcome, and insightful interviews with coaches, teammates and family members, “Receiver” left me wishing the NFL season started yesterday.

Clearly, there’s enough to like about “Receiver” for football fans like myself, but it may work even better for the casual Sunday sports ball viewer. That I sometimes found myself hoping it would dig in deeper or take more time with the darker side of the game is indicative of how much I already knew about the players and the overall arc of last season.
