Strong performances and a compelling plot makes Presumed Innocent addictive television.

You’ll get sucked in from the start, and will continually waffle over Rusty’s innocence and the list of potential suspects. “Presumed Innocent” makes a strong case that Kelley needs to stick to making legal thrillers. It’s what he excels at.

The devil is a cunning soul. Crafting a story about how getting away with murder can be covered up. It's a great show. But season 2 better come back to reality. Guilt always wins. The need for peace, always unearths truth.

One of the great surprises of 2024, this series manages to keep the audience captivated and intrigued from start to finish, with thrilling courtroom scenes and a skillfully executed build-up of suspense. With an exceptional cast, the surprising outcome and a plot with twists that have not been seen for a long time are highlights that deserve to be highlighted.Throughout all the episodes, the series maintains the suspense, skillfully combining suspenseful sequences with gripping drama, resulting in an immersion that makes it difficult to notice the passage of time during viewing. The script plays with the identity of the culprit in an engaging way, encouraging the viewer to anticipate answers and unravel riddles, demonstrating exceptional writing.Jake Gyllenhaal, who is best known for his film roles, shows his versatility by playing an excellent role in this television production. His performance, together with a competent supporting cast, drives the narrative in an engaging way, keeping the audience's interest without losing ****'s common to find series endings that disappoint due to their lack of creativity or that interrupt the established narrative rhythm. However, in this case, the series presents a brilliant plot twist that fits cohesively into the whole plot. The script sows clues throughout the episodes, culminating in a twist that makes total sense. The skill shown in constructing this plot twist serves as an example for other productions to follow. Once again, the series stands out as one of the great surprises of 2024.

Kelley shows here that a series can be talky yet still tense, and often fascinating, with the right cast.

Their [Rusty and Barbara's] emotional interactions give Presumed Innocent the heft it needs to escape from its otherwise generic identity. In the process, Gyllenhaal and Negga deliver excellent, all-encompassing work.

Tonally, the thriller from Kelley’s back catalogue that Presumed Innocent has most in common with is The Undoing, in which Hugh Grant, as a top Manhattan doctor married to Nicole Kidman, turns out to have horridly murdered his beautiful girlfriend. The gloss can’t quite conceal the hollows.

Gyllenhaal isn’t exactly stretched as the ambiguous (egotistic, deceitful) Rusty, but he and Sarsgaard are the only reasons to watch.

Gyllenhaal’s talents are not suited to this suite of emotions and behaviors, which read mostly as “angry” and “desperate.” .... The script does nobody here any favors, including Ruth Negga as Rusty’s wife, Bill Camp as his boss and protector, and Peter Sarsgaard as an office rival who is all too eager to nail him. Sarsgaard is usually a terrific actor, but even he can’t make any of this work.

Excellent show, taken down by the continous forcing of minorites into roles that don't fit. More reinforcing of the globalist agendas.

Starts off interesting, always gives the impression it's going to get interesting before you realise it's repetitive and largely boring and then oddly falls really flat at the end. There was nothing wrong with any of the performances of the actors, all were great, however the script feels really dragged out over that many episodes.

all in all it's starts really good, you want to know more, it's even exciting at times, but who wrote that ending it doesn't make any sense, worst ending of a show in a long time for me, very unsatisfying

"Presumed Innocent" (mini-series, 8 eps, 45-mins, Apple+) This single-season series stars Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role as a Chicago prosecutor ("Rusty") whose life is turned upside down by the murder of his colleague and paramour, Carolyn Polhemus, as he's quickly named the prime suspect. The main problem with this story is plausibility from beginning through the end. There are too many circumstances and scenes/scenarios that just don't ring true, that are just dumb. The Rusty character is wholly unlikeable, he has so many flaws yet each of three other family members support him when they have every reason to distance themselves from him if not outright move out! But the worst of it is the final episode when we learn the verdict and its aftermath, both of which you just KNOW would not play out in real life that way, it just screams "this is so dumb!" BTW, Apple gets its DIE credits/compensation with the mixed race (B/W) marriage AND children of Rusty and Barbara. Notice these M/R relationships are always the polarizing B/W and never other race combos, wonder why? Please save yourself the time and aggravation of watching this throwaway show.

After seven tense and interesting episodes, the whole story simply implodes at the very end, when we are given an ”explanation” that defies all logic and clashes with the story’s own premises. It’s not just far-fetched - it is ridiculous. For the ending to make any sense, several people would have to be full-blown psychopaths, although throughout the series they haven’t said or done anything to indicate that. It’s as if Frodo at Mount Doom would suddenly have confessed that - plot twist! - he was really Sauron’s ally the whole time!
I really enjoyed the show up until the last scene, when I was sitting in stunned silence and then just wanted to punch the series in the face.
