Fox seems to be on the right track, though, with a lead character who has ample potential to gawkily bloom and grow.

New Girl is charming and quite funny, but especially when compared with the other two shows, it seems quite old-school.

The good news is if you’ve enjoyed the shows in the past--and perhaps felt New Girl lost a bit of its fastball--the kickoff episodes suggest there might be more to like in the year ahead.

Deschanel is utterly con-vincing as this off-kilter gal, and of the supporting cast, Wayans sparks the most as Coach.

Boy, has she pulled the bangs over everyone's eyes with this atrociously cutesy sitcom.

I am finally getting around to getting obsessively addicted to this show & Jesus H. Christ, it does NOT disappoint. The characters, each and every one, are relatable at some point. It has its few cringeworthy moments, but doesn’t every show? Schmidt is my favorite character, hands down. After the first few episodes, I was googling the show, really curious about who the writers were, because it’s THAT well written. I know it takes good writing and good actors and fortunately for this show, it has both. Jess is at times definitely over-the-top and obnoxious, but overall I loved her; her character means well and they all have good intentions. It’s realistic and as I’m writing this, I’m noticing my favorite comedian in the world has made a cameo (BILL BURR) I’m just a few seasons in but speaking of, the guest stars so far are great! Jamie Lee Curtis, Olivia Munn (gorgeous btw), Dennis Farina (RIP), Dermot Mulroney, Rob Reiner, and again the great Bill Burr. Please do yourselves a favor and Netflix some B.Burr stand up specials and thank me later. Btw you’re welcome.
Anyway, it took a minute, (few episodes in) but both Winston and Cece grew on me hard. Nick and Schmidt are lovable and hilarious from the start, but they all are tremendously talented and funny in their own ways. Bottom line, to say that New Girl is binge-worthy is like saying Babe Ruth was a mediocre baseball player. It’s so much better than that—it’s a laugh-out-loud-pee-your-pants-unexpectedly show that keeps you rooting for the main players. I got emotionally invested in the whole Jess/Nick, Schmidt/Cece storylines but it’s so worth it. This show turns my bad mood around in no time. You can’t stay mad or in an ugly mood if New Girl is on. Can’t say enough how fantastically amazing & hilarious Schmidt is. Fan for life!
