Miracle Workers (2019)

Rich’s roundabout way with dark punchlines, catching you on the way out the funeral home door, are just as weird and delicious as ever.

What season two of this delightfully absurd anthology series proves is that there’s no need for miracles in the Dark Ages when we have each other.

Miracle Workers: Dark Ages may not have that satisfying story arc that the show’s first season has, but Viswanathan is a great lead and the characters are well-established by the end of the first episode.

You’re not likely to come out of any episode reconsidering the meaning of life, in other words. But under­lying Rich’s farce is a sharp--and bleak--analogy for the state of the world: Heaven Inc. is failing because it can’t make 7.5 billion individuals happy when their fates are so tightly entwined that one person’s godsend is sure to be another’s curse.

The show is all over the place: it’s sharp when squinting at absurdity, juvenile when diarrhea jokes plop to the fore, sappy when it spares a moment to cherish the mystery and majesty of creation.

It’s a show that you keep waiting to click into gear, to get funnier, smarter, more enjoyable--and there are glimpses of it in Buscemi’s hang-dog approach and Radcliffe’s quirky performance--but it never quite gets there. It’s a TV prayer left unanswered.

Buscemi is wasted on subpar material. So is Radcliffe for that matter. Perky side characters played by Geraldine Viswanathan and Karan Soni have potential, but again, the mediocre material holds them back and lets the mind wander to better shows, particularly one less interested in heaven and more interested in earth (and aliens).

This show is one of the best shows I'v ever watched in T.V, In 2019 when I watched Miracle Workers for the first time it was incredible, there was a lot of humor and it was very fun watching the show itself.Daniel Radcliffe & Steve Buscemi and all the others acting was brilliant and the plot is great.

The show has so many things going for it - The premise is unique, The cast is great, and it can be genuinely funny without relying on a laugh track to push a punch line. That being said, It's not without its flaws. The show kind of drags in the second half and how it plays out (in regards to the overall plot) is a bit too predictable. It's still a fun show though.
