Let’s get past the pilot and the title, because if you can do that, the series that Netflix’s Good Times grows into by the end of 10 episodes isn’t nearly so dire and so worthy of instant condemnation. The last three or four episodes of the season have enough funny and promising elements that you would give that show, with a different title, some credit for its potential, even if it never rises to the level of actual inspirations like The PJs, The Boondocks and Bebe’s Kids.

There is actual potential in the new animated version of Good Times, but Shepard and her writers are too busy pushing the envelope to take advantage of that potential.

The first three episodes of “Good Times,” which is when I stopped watching, are stuffed full of repetitive stereotypes, stale jokes and bizarre choices.

This new good times is not simply a bad reboot, but a stupid, ignorant, truly dreadful and incomprehensible one, a rip-off and that's a surprise, because this is a remake of the great 1974-79 classic that was a spinoff of Maude (which in turn was a spinoff of all in the family), it's a story about the Evans family in an up and down era in the Chicago housing project, here, a new Evans family in the same thing, the performances are truly horrible, the teleplay is a mess, the animation is truly worthless and even the editing is pathetic, let's just say I hated every inch of this reboot/remake, especially offensive is the use of a infant as a drug dealer as not only a cartoon character, but a television character as a whole, completely cynical and idiotic, this piece of junk will have an honest big contendership on my after christmas when I do the worst television of 2024 and this is it. good times is miserable times indeed, I really despise this reboot, truly dreadful piece of work.
