Wine Country shows that women in their 50s are in one of the best phases of their lives, a time to be celebrated, welcomed, and enjoyed with good friends and good wine.

Judging by her funny, warm, drawn-from-life feature directing debut Wine Country, Amy Poehler is a gracious friend. She and screenwriters Emily Spivey and Liz Cackowski ensure that the many former “Saturday Night Live” performers and writers assembled for this Napa Valley-set Netflix comedy get moments to shine.

Very funny still intelligent mainstream cinema. Art Show scene with a lot of clever sarcasm on millenials is just a diamond. Bright and touchy dialogues, Good chemistry between characters, as well as transformations of characters that are easy to relate to and psychologically valid - it makes Wine Country a bit like The Big Chill but less serious and more FEMALE :) Cudos for large dose of auto-irony, and clever observations of people and society of today. Amy passed her directorial exam.

A pleasant and perfectly watchable comedy that would have died on the vine in theaters, Wine Country is casual viewing done right.

It isn’t good, exactly — as boozy friend-reunion comedies go, it’s no “Girls Trip” or “The World’s End” — but it has its ticklish grace notes, plus some first-rate second and third bananas, despite a script that seems to be working both too hard and not hard enough.

Maybe this dream team would be better showcased by a "Tea With the Dames" situation, in which they were allowed to toss out the script and booze it up as their own funny selves. Anyone else up for Chardonnay With the Comedians?

It’s clear that a verité, fly-on-the-wall record of these SNL livewires on vacation would have made a hilarious documentary. What we have instead follows the Sitcom 101 formula.

Wine Country is a pleasant enough comedy about friendships in middle age and learning to embrace change. It’s surprising, though, that the film isn’t more fun. The pacing feels oddly slow, which blunts the edges of some of the jokes. For a group of actresses with improv comedy chops, it feels labored at times.

Mindless but fun. Love the cast, and has quite a few funny parts. I adore Amy Poehler!

A bunch of privileged, white, middle-class women get drunk on wine. Sounds like every night of the week if you are a privileged, white, middle-class woman. At least Maya Rudolph is there to add some color. Mildly entertaining, but I found myself browsing the web while I watched it, meh.

Deeply unfunny and obliviously white. Most of the jokes fall flat and the plot lacks tension.

It's a movie that wants to be like Bridesmaids but fails in that it's just not that funny. They missed some shots with the bit actors too.....could have really made fun of that region and the wine geek. Schwartzman, Fey, and other bit parts completely underwritten and not that funny. The "group of older people" trying to act young trope is just trite at this point. There was almost nothing about wine in it too aside from the setting.
