What Phoenix and Witherspoon accomplish in this movie is transcendent. They act with every bone and inch of flesh and facial plane, and each tone and waver of their voice.

What adds boundless energy to Walk the Line is the performance by Reese Witherspoon as June Carter Cash.

Although it may seem to be an odd choice to cast Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash, together with Reese Witherspoon he delivers an astounding performance - including amazing renditions of universally loved Cash-classics. Must watch!

This is another favourite movie of mine. First off the music in this movie is better than the original. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon are sensational. The love story is so good. I felt connected to it since it's based on the true story of Johnny Cash and June Carter. This is Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon's best performance to date.

In spite of its standard biopic gaps and simplifications, Walk the Line gets the big things right.

The best moments in Walk the Line are the plentiful musical sequences, from Cash's initial foray into the Sun Records studio in Memphis, to his nights performing in high school auditoriums alongside the likes of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis, to his landmark concert at Folsom Prison in 1968, where his dangerous, edgy persona was cemented.

The movie is less an uncharted journey than a 2 p.m. bus tour of a music industry legend. But like an expert guide, Mangold shepherds the story with enough grace, energy and skill to make it worthwhile.

Unfortunately, for all its good music and admirable vocal impersonations, Walk the Line slides -- very, very slowly -- downhill.

In no way obsessive, Walk the Line is more sincerely--which is to say, more boringly--sincere. It doesn't leave you with much to think about, except maybe the empty vibrato of effective ventriloquism.

My favorite biopic film. It's really great how a biopic could be made into an exploration film about a man suffering from childhood trauma, addiction to alcohol and drugs and a woman who didn't push back from helping a person going through hard times. I can't ever get tired of watching brilliant performances by Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.

This is the second time I watch this movie and still it's beautiful. I even more appreciate and adore the life and relationship between Johnny Cash and June Carter and their families, as well as the picture of how destiny works, how you can't avoid it no matter how hard you try. Oh, this movie is based on real story so I am so in love with it. How Johnny has a very bad relationship with his father but still he didn't walk away. I'm not sure I can do that. Standing O for him. Not to mention his endless love with June. The fact that John died 4 months after she passed away is really really impressive. And 35 years of marriage. Hell, I kinda jealous with their love story haha.

Joaquin Phoenix tackles the early life and times of Johnny Cash, with something more than an assist by Reese Witherspoon as June Carter. It's great material, more factual than many dramatized biopics, but seems like it's always standing just a hair's breadth from embracing the man and his mythos. Phoenix emphatically pours himself into the role, but can't quite nail Johnny’s authoritative, larger-than-life presence either on the stage or off it. That, along with his ever-so-slightly imperfect take on Cash's legendary singing voice, had me seeing the Best Actor nominee as a tremendous impersonator but not a living, breathing character unto himself. Surprisingly, Witherspoon fares much better in a role that seemed miscast at first. She's sweet, street smart and talented, and much of the trauma we suffer from Cash's self-inflicted trouble is drawn from the visible toll it takes on her. An ambitious picture that has its heart in the right place, but can't fully recover from a few crucial, disappointing near-misses.

get yourself up.. Walk The Line The feature clocks for more than 2 hours where the actors and the characters suffer for art that is achingly good and pleasurable to watch but unfortunately it chews off way too much to make the same predictable point that it easily could have quite earlier. James Mangold's brilliant execution and depiction of Johnny Cash clearly displays his love and emotion for him that James doesn't fail to express it in here on any level. Joaquin Phoenix is stunning on his portrayal of Johnny Cash and is supported nicely by Reese Witherspoon throughout the course of the feature. Walk The Line has stellar performance on its side along with brilliant execution, but lacks completely on other factors like gripping screenplay, better editing and a fresh intake on biographies which it had a window to go for.

Terrible. As usual for post-2000s tripe; "let's character assassinate a great man. he was a sexist, he was an adulterer, he was bad etc etc" everything the feminist class wants to project onto everyone else. GARBAGE.
