Usually when a film is innately counterculture, it tries to at least appeal to that sort of audience. "Together" does exactly the opposite - it might be the harshest criticism of indivisualism I've seen on screen; it presents free choice as an empty idea that is rarely practiced by its supporters. Rather, it says that conventions exist for a reason: they're meant to prevent us from tearing each other apart. As bold as a message this is, the movie is likely to alienate its most avid supporters: people without an open mind. (Yes, that is an insult.)
