Ticket to Paradise

So, Ticket to Paradise… see or skip? Easy. See as there’s lots to enjoy. Bouttier as the wise-beyond-his-years Gede is absolutely rubberneck-worthy, the scenery and backdrops are gorgeous if out of reach for most of us, and the film crackles with energy. But you’ll be watching movie stars at work, and you’ll never forget it.

Although this features high wattage stars, it represents a curiously anachronistic attempt at escapist fare.

With a decades-long rapport on screen and off, they’re natural and sparky together, and Roberts joins Clooney in her decision not to presenting the cosmetically refreshed face of her peers. For that alone, Ticket To Paradise is a trip worth taking.

Bless the old school stars Roberts and Clooney for elevating this lackluster mélange and in certain instances, even making you forget about the non-sensical film that surrounds them. But that’s hardly enough, especially if you are hoping for a homecoming for the rom-coms of yore.

George Clooney and Julia Roberts remain two of the best, most charismatic movie stars to ever grace the silver screen, and we're fortunate to have cinematic proof of their heat and chemistry. Ticket to Paradise just isn't that proof. It's OK. But it should've been better.

If Clooney and Roberts are both wonderful actors, at this point they’re just not that good together, at least not in this setup.

Leave it to the legends to revive the genre of rom-com. Clooney and Roberts bring a reminder of what films used to be, an escape and a way to tell relatable stories you can feel. Not sure why this film has such low review scores. It tells a story of relatable characters, with palpable chemistry. It also manages to subvert many film cliches and tug at your heartstrings with scenes and situations that veer more into the category of drama. The Clooney and Robert's characters are also written in a way that makes them human. Flaws and all, we get to see how they ended up the way they are and root for them to find their way back. My only gripe with this film is the character of the daughter and the actress portraying her. It almost felt like two different films whenever she was in screen. She just didn't stand out whatsoever, then again she had big shoes to fill. That being said Ticket to Paradise is highly recommended. In a world full of remakes and Disney flicks, it tells a heartwarming and hilarious story.

Clooney and Julia Roberts are undeniable in this heartfelt and harmless romantic comedy. Clooney is top notch here, Roberts is too but he plays his character well and really helps create a likable and somewhat sympathic character when a lesser actor would have phoned in the performance in a disposable romantic comedy. Kaitlyn Dever is also really good here, im a huge fan of hers from Dopesick, Short Term 12, Unbelievable and Booksmart. I really feel like she's going to be a massive player in acting in the future and she is so good at adding layers to a somewhat thin character. Most of the comedy here works, the characters play off eachother well here and help create some genuinely funny moments. My main gripe is really just the plot, I found it to be unrealistic and thin. Theres an underlying theme about living in the moment and doing what makes you happy, which is great and all but I felt like the plot doesn't do this film or the characters any favors in terms of execution. Its a solid watch overall, im obviously not in this films target audience but id definitely recommend giving it a watch at least once.

Qual a necessidade de vários filmes de comédia romântica apostarem em lugares paradisíacos para se vender. Desta vez a locação turística para ser vendida, digo, representada, é Bali, e sejamos justo, talvez a iluminação e fotografia do lugar sejam as únicas coisas que se salvam. Dito isso, é um filme inofensivo. O casal separado de Clooney e de Roberts acompanham a filha que decide largar os estudos e a promissora profissão para viver com um jovem em uma estendida versão do seu amor de verão. Nada mais brega ou menos romântico que essa proposta. Claro que os produtores darão a mínima para desenvolver o jovem casal, mal sabemos a origem do rapaz que parece ter uma filosofia de vida minimalista interessante, pelos poucos diálogos que lhe reservaram. Sobrou mesmo para os veteranos segurarem a onda, baseado no carisma e na tradição de suas presenças, mas o roteiro sempre os coloca ora em situações constrangedoras (a cena do avião, por exemplo), ora em situações que não saem do lugar comum. É um filme que não se arrisca, e acaba nem sendo engraçado, completamente esquecível. E pra completar é uma soma de clichês infindáveis, desde porres que servem para uma explosão de alegria até então contida ao final quadrado demais. Ordinário e esquecível.

Terrible movie, it's like they had their lines fed to them from kindergartens. They both know they have no acting skills left so they put this not funny high budget film to dumb fans who will watch anything they are in. Clooney only knows how to drink alcohol and shoot people in his movies
