The Great Flood

It's not for everyone. If you have a background or a little knowledge on computer science, you'll enjoy it greatly and appreciate it for its message. But for the general public, it might seem confusing. You don't expect the way it is going until it is too late.

Watching The Great Flood was a good experience. Hollywood has presented the disaster concept many times and in many different ways. I wouldn't say this is the best movie on this concept yet, but in the future, when good flood-related movies are discussed, this one will definitely be mentioned. Read Full Review - ****

This film starts from a premise Korean cinema handles especially well: using a familiar genre to talk, very directly, about a real social issue. What initially looks like a large-scale disaster movie slowly reveals something more uncomfortable underneath — a humanity already broken long before the water begins to **** first half works effectively as a survival story. There is tension, claustrophobia, and a strong sense of physical and emotional confinement. The focus stays close to a mother and her child, avoiding easy spectacle and grounding the catastrophe in something intimate and fragile.Halfway through, the film takes a sharp turn toward science fiction. This shift will divide viewers. The pacing becomes uneven, ideas start to repeat, and the narrative feels more abstract and symbolic. Not everything lands, and the film occasionally struggles to balance its ambition with clarity.Still, the emotional core holds. The central performance carries the film even when the script wavers, and there is an undeniable sincerity in its attempt to reflect on motherhood, extinction, and the fear of a future without continuity. It may feel provocative or debatable, but it never feels hollow.Visually, the film offers striking moments. Destruction is portrayed as something mournful rather than spectacular, and the final images linger, reinforcing the idea that the title works more as metaphor than ****’s not a flawless film, nor an easy one, but its willingness to take risks is far more interesting than another empty disaster movie.

While the first 40 minutes of this movie depict an incredibly thrilling survival adventure, it then bizarrely becomes a completely different genre and story that is both non-sensical and unsatisfying.

An example of what appears to be a good film destroyed by terrible voice acting. The dubs removes any emotional weight to the lead actress. The boy becomes so unlikable that you want him to be lost to the flood in the first 5 months. If you know the plot of this movie you realise that these two points impact the entire storyline, this destroying the entire movie. Watch this one subs not dubs. I suspect Netflix could pay for new dubs, but more than anything I think this might bring light to the poor dubs destroying otherwise good films. Dubs cannot be cheaped out like this, it's an insult to the film and harms the reputation of the actual actors.

Wasting time to watch. Entire scene is in the apartment building, repeating and repeating though it is story related repeat. Not recommended
