This reminded me of Tom Hanks in Inferno, somehow. There, they tried to make one of the best drama actors into an action star by making him run around all the time, playing parkour. Here they make Hugh Jackman, one of the most entertaining action stars of our time, into a freaking drama actor. While the story of Robin Hood has been told many a times over, there was great potential for this interpretation. However, the execution, script and cast were simply all wrong for this to be considered good.

Shot on film - looks unbelievable. That is pretty much the only thing going for The Death of Robin Hood. Reimagines the outlaw as a despicable, murderous criminal, who is now an old man filled with pain and lifelessness. The first half is ultra violent and feels as if it could lead somewhere. The second half comes to a screeching halt and lays down for a nap. And then nothing really happens.

Too dark. Too bloody. I'm surprised Jack Hughman decided to star in this. He's so good as Van Helsing and The Wolverine. This is just torture.

At best, this is something for an indie film festival—not for mainstream cinema, an exciting movie night, or even the arthouse circuit. But since it is here anyway: if you want to spare yourself forty minutes of unbridled violence—intended to explain the anti-hero Robin Hood—only to spend the next hour and a half watching him find redemption in a monastery, you would do best to avoid this film. just superficial, depressing rubbish.

Very underrated film. Stunningly beautiful and powerfully emotional as it explores the story before Robin Hood became the legend we know today. It's practically a course in medieval history! So many profound quotes. I saw this movie weeks ago and scenes still come to mind. Watch it with an open mind. It's a very special film. P.S. it's not an action/thriller and it would be a great watch as the fall season approaches.

Do you want to see an epic send-off for an epic hero? Well, you wont see it here. Instead he was effectively sent to Guantanamo Bay, where he was molested, extensively abused and then drowned in feces. This was the most un- Robin Hood movie about Robin Hood ive ever seen. It was not just different from what one might expect from movie about this character, it was complete opposite from what you would think of, when considering this folk hero. +1 for Jackman. Why he would agree to star in this trash is beyond me.

Beautifully shot, but the story, or how it plays out, is all nonsense. Like, what was the point of all that?

The Death of Robin Hood had great potential, but unfortunately, it wasn't delivered in the way i think it should have been, the film shows a version of Robin Hood that is brutal, unapologetic, and almost feels like a complete villain, the first act of the film establish that exceptionally well, and i was genuinely surprised by how effectively violent it was, if the film had carried that energy into a story that built toward an epic final death for Robin Hood, it could have been something truly great. Instead, the rest of the film follows Robin after he is wounded, weak, and staying in a priory, accompanied by Brigit, played by Jodie Comer, that's where the film lost me, it opens with such a powerful setup for what feels like one final legendary journey, but it ultimately becomes a slow and melancholic story about a broken man spending his final days, unfortunately, that direction just didn't work for me. As a result, i found myself disconnected from both the story and its characters, and at times, i was almost bored to death, i was eventually able to follow where the film was going, but i had very little interest in what was happening, on top of that, the way Brigit's relationship with Robin is developed feels awkward and unclear, making it difficult to become emotionally invested. Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, and the rest of the cast all deliver strong performances, Michael Sarnoski once again proves himself to be a talented filmmaker, and i really appreciate his filmmaking style, the visuals are impressive, while the score and songs are incredible, the biggest issue is simply the story itself. Had The Death of Robin Hood maintained the intensity and promise of its first act all the way to Robin's final breath, it could have been one of the best films of the year, instead, it stands as one of the greatest missed opportunities, a film that shows flashes of greatness but never fully becomes the masterpiece it could have been.

Seeing a known actor like Hugh Jackman and a popular folklore character, Robin Hood, managed to pique my interest to watch this movie. It's a slow-paced movie about the life of Robin Hood before his death. This is not the Robin Hood we know but a darker one. I am having trouble with the dialog in this movie since the dialog is soft-spoken and has an accent; the lack of subtitles also didn't help. The movie shows how Robin now changes and longs for death as he regrets his younger days' actions. The visuals in this show are amazing since they manage to convince me that they are in a separate time period. In addition to the prop, the outfit and building that fit the narrative really sell it to me. Nevertheless, I can understand why people dislike this movie because it doesn't really have a point; they manage to sneak in some action, but it's quite short. They're trying to focus on his last moment, so it's more of a slice of life. Overall I think the rating will be low since it is quite less than other movies I watch with more impact; I'm thinking about rewatching once there are subtitles, but maybe then the rating will change.

A boring failure of a movie! Everything here is an absolute failure! Failure!!!

Excellent film. The absolutely brutal first half sets up the second half very well. And Hugh Jackman is excellent. As are Bill Skarsgard and Jodie Comer. I had no expectations going into it and really enjoyed it.

A meditative, introspective look at a darker twist of a fable that doesn't always land its ideas perfectly or delve enough into its ideas, yet benefits from great yisual craft as well as one of the performing highlights of Hugh Jackman's career. Accompanied by strong, interesting direction from Sarnoski, the film's silky, slow pace is marred only by a strangely breezy third act. A great watch, though, engaging throughout and works swell as a mood piece
