The Beekeeper

The Beekeeper is mindless, overblown nonsense timed perfectly to drag us from a haze of prestige films and an awards bait stupor.

It's a real shame that "The Beekeeper" isn't the righteous trash masterpiece that it keeps threatening to turn into. There's a great pop hit in here somewhere—probably one that focused exclusively on Adam and the awful people he's going after. But the film is scattered and annoyingly glib at times.

Statham, 56 and fit enough to bring the fury, benefits from impressive stuntwork — his own, his double’s and the legion of stunt men/minions he’s meant to stab, kick, punch and plow his way through. And everybody can toast the breathless editing from Geoffrey O’Brien, who should be on everybody involved’s Christmas card list after this.

The Beekeeper is an engaging ride, and once the action starts it never lets up.

The Beekeeper is the best kind of bad movie — which is to say, it’s the sort that puts entertainment ahead of pretentiousness, embracing the laughter sure to accompany such an unapologetically stupid, ultra-violent premise.

What we have is a generic addition to an already oversaturated genre – one that doesn’t even have the sense to make use of Statham’s often underutilised comedic talents.

It’s not unlike a partially completed sketch whose occasional flashes of color only serve to remind us how incomplete and lazily constructed the rest of it is.

This movie Is awesome, good music and good actors. Plot is crazy and good action movie.

Ха. Я не знаю, но почему-то тупое мясо типа Джона Уика сейчас очень в моде. Пчеловод это ну прям копия фильма с Ривзом в главной роли. Сюжет по сути то же калька: у нашего протагониста доводят до смерти единственного дорогого человека, убийца местный сыночек президента, распиздяй со связями и баблом, и вот наш Пчеловод идёт мстить. Конечно убивает всех и вся. При этом его враги были троечниками в классах имперских штурмовиков, поэтому попасть в "героя" в принципе не способны и используют огнестрельное оружие исключительно в рукопашном бою, что обречено изначально на провал. Ведь наш Пчеловод, никто иной как Стетем-хрен попадёшь, -хрен поцарапаешь, -хрен остановишь, -хрен узнаешь и ещё хрен его знает что. Помоему, где то это уже было? Честно фильм воспринимался сугубо как комедия. Ведь от творящегося на экране маразма все просто падали от смеха. Честно, Стетему пора менять амплуа. Ведь были в его кино карьере нормальные герои, хотя бы в фильме "Большой куш". Просто на это уже смешно смотреть, да 15 летние это хавают, но актёр стареет и малолеток больше интересуют всякий спайдер мены, а не 60и летний мужик раскидывающий роты спецназа в полной выкладке одной рукой. Смешней этого только тётка в той же роли. Оценки тому доказательство. Фильм категории "Б", смотреть исключительно дома по подписке.

Equal parts stupid as it was entertaining. I enjoyed watching the various characters as they struggled to comprehend just how potent the retired beekeeper is. For genre fans, statham's performance exacting his wrath on those who dared disturb the hive was a fun if predictable ride.

Fun action film unfortunately has the character depth of a koi pond. Cool action sequences are inhabited by paper thin characters; you're just here to see Jason Statham kick ass. And he's awesome at it.

A wasted opportunity. The premise is actually solid with data mining and selling/stealing of cyber information. But the movie is a mess. Does anyone actually believe FBI agents speak and act like this movie suggests? Emmy Raver-Lampman overacts so much in this movie that her. Character simply isn’t believable. Her sailor mouth and efforts to be butch or completely overplayed, and she’s just petulant. Her mom is dead ffs. At least show some emotion. As for Stratham, well he still doesn’t push himself to become a better, more diverse actor. It’s the same robotic, simplistic stuff we see year after year, film after film. Hutcherson is completely out of his element here. He does well at being a privileged imp, but can’t pull off the managerial parts, and his character motives seem totally incompatible with the plot. Don’t expect much.
