Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Phantom may not be the best entry in the series, but it's the most technically accomplished, and it makes you as hungry for the next film as you've been for this one.

A breathless, exciting family movie with a couple of truly memorable sequences, and just enough in the way of story and character to keep the franchise going for another 20 years.

In the end, Phantom needed more human and less digital scale. The magic of "Star Wars" lay in Lucas' ability to play the human comedy in a fantastic future. With Phantom, he has brought the series to the brink of total artificiality, the future as a video game.

Not at all bad for a toy commercial.

Story. Character. They used to mean something to George Lucas.

It's difficult to discern precisely where this all went wrong, and even more difficult to speculate about possible improvements.

For me Phantom Menace is actually easily the GOAT, I absolutely cannot understand the criticism of the prequel trilogy, I even think it's better than the original trilogy. And besides, I actually really like the acting performances of Jake Lloyd, Hayden Christensen, Jar Jar Binks. Rating: original trilogy 5/5, prequel trilogy 6/5 (it's just perfect). (It's really perplexing/disturbing that my most favorite movies and actors were so hated.)

A very important episode for the Canon story. it was in 1999 so watch it with that in mind. Very good movie.

This was the first Star Wars film I ever watched and it did make me fall in love with the franchise. I'm a 90s baby, so the OG trilogy wasn't know to me at this point in my life and this film was everything. Years later, I now understand some of the hate. But it's no where near as bad as people make out.

this film is so poorly written . the only good part is the darth maul fight and thats it.

Bad movie. This movie mad me feel like I was dead the whole time. The climax was good though.
