The spiritual angle in Serenity is just one of the many elements making this one of the most ambitious, one of the most challenging — and one of the most entertaining thrillers in recent years.

The off-kilter, colorful, cartoonish fantasy of Serenity is just so odd and appealing that you want to spend time with the characters, aboard this ship, among the people of Plymouth in this crazy, upside-down world.

This is perhaps the first movie I've ever seen where the plot twist went completely over everyone's head, including ALL of the critics, (even the few who actually enjoyed it.) The film red herrings the living hell out of the audience, but it's quite easy to see past with some critical thinking. Of course, it's always possible that all the symbolism and metaphor was completely coincidental, and that the internal logic of the film is entirely non-existent. But try to think a little bit deeper and you too might figure out that maybe we shouldn't take the film's "absurd plot twist" at face value...

i Was Shocked For Minutes When The Story Of Movie Had Changed But It Was Worth It,Someone May Find It Weird But I liked It.

Serenity isn’t just meant to surprise you — which it will — but to give you an emotional wallop — which it may or may not. It didn’t work for me: I was too hung up on the fanciness (and, in truth, ridiculousness) of the final half-hour to feel everything Knight wanted me to feel.

The setting, the sexy tone, the cast and snippets of sharp dialogue tamped down my eye rolling through the film’s first half. McConaughey, who has more than his share of seaside tales, gives fair value in delivering salty lines.

The batshit bonkers Serenity fails on every level, first as entertainment and then as a new-agey thumbsucker about a magical, mystical tour through the subconscious. Serenity finds new definitions of bad that almost make the damn thing worth watching for its magnificent flameout.

Serenity is not just awful. It’s amazingly awful, which means that very few people will want to see it, but some probably will. People who can enjoy laughing at something made in dead earnest, who can appreciate, in a perverse way, a phenomenal, jaw-dropping mess, may find an experience close to pleasure in this strange, misbegotten, three-headed freak of a movie.

The new year is not even a month old, but a hunk of junk called Serenity already qualifies as the worst film of 2019. Both moronically written and directed with shocking, amateurish ineptitude by Stephen Knight.

The first half hour of the movie is definitely slow, but the around the half hour mark things get interesting. At around the hour you know there's more to this movie than meets the eye, ultimately turning into a movie that's actually quite brilliant, if it weren't for the last 5 minutes which I thought were unnecessesary, but I managed to look past that.
I did thoroughly enjoy watching this movie and that's what it's all about. I'm not going to throw out any spoilers here, you have to see it for yourself and decide whether these professional critics know their stuff or are just going through the motions, all saying pretty much nothing at all. Then again, movies that are even a bit spiritual often get a red flag from a lot of critics for reasons unclear to me. I'm glad I saw this movie and plan on seeing it again.

It's a bold move from Steven that apparently didn't appealed to the critics that applaud some other empty movies the movie it's very weird and the movie should end around 10 min before then it actually does (Steven's fault here). However, at the same time is bold, innovative and surprisingly

While I enjoy Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey, this movie is mindbogglingly bad but almost in a funny way. While its not purposely bad like "The Room" or some of the other bad movies I've seen, it still begs the question as to what everyone was thinking when they were making this movie?

Most people will rate this film because of its ridiculous plot twist, but what most won't say is that it's genuinely insulting. The film obviously builds up to something that it wants to surprise the audience with but it plays like an adjatation instead, like it expects the audience to know its grand reveal ahead of time. It's bad, and it hurts the film in ways most don't expect or want to admit to. The only positive mark on the film is the soundtrack, which, ironically enough, is full of serenity and plays out like a peaceful dream.
