The across-the-board strong performances indicate a sure directorial hand. Everyone is made vivid, down to the smallest roles.

Neither as breezy nor as edgy as it pretends to be.

Angarano and Mabrey bring something special to the proceedings, and they make it work.

At its best this 2005 feature wickedly satirizes the politics of pity--how healthy people buy off the dying with gifts and imminent death becomes a kind of stardom. But the sap begins to flow.

Plays closer to an after-school special (with HBO-standard dialogue) than a satisfying feature film.

Dylan and Nikki are an awkward match at best, and their combined story is about as creative/convincing as a Hallmark card.

A movie so bad it's not even worth watching on DVD.

I agree with ElliotH. @ how critics could taint one's view of a move if all we listened to are the compendium of what **** reviews show how we should spend our movie dollars. I have seen this movie multiple times and catch new elements to it every time. Even if one can't totally believe the story, the characters are so believable. And I will follow many of the main and bit actors in it for their great work. Thank you, Sundance Channel, for airing it again and again! This day I'm lying in my every-few days of pain from an AIDS side effect, and I don't want sympathy -- just the empathy of this flick!
