It’s exactly the sort of oddball trifle, like Hudson Hawk, that tends to attract the ire of baffled audiences and grumpy critics. It’s also the sort of oddball trifle that, like Hudson Hawk, will put certain aficionados of silliness in a pretty good mood.

Mortdecai is by no means a disaster — the occasional joke lands, and there’s at least some fun to be found in the frenetic farce of all the conspiracies and the running-around... Still, I spent most of the movie waiting for it to find its rhythms and set a witty pace for itself that would allow the humor to build and the outrageous situations to pay off grandly.

Very funny HAHAHAHA and entertaining. Some movies, can be predictable, like you can easily predict what will happen next.Trust me.. this movie is not like "some movies". It deserves high ratings.

I loved this film because of it fun, lighthearted silliness. Just what is needed sometimes when life seams to be thick with hate and brutality. Films are about their ability to take someone to a place they have never been or away from what they would like to forget. To escape today's realty. Today this film was a blast, exactly what I needed, some light silly positive comedy where the biggest problem was a silly mustache. A perfect movie after a dark tragic day of Paris killings. And it allowed me to forget and escape for that time, which are what movies sometimes are all about!

Contrary to appearances, Mortdecai isn’t a total disaster: Depp may be suffering the most catastrophic career slump since Eddie Murphy said yes to Norbit, but he’s still perfectly watchable.

There’s a fatal shortage of zingers to supplement its exhausting zaniness.

In the end, we must lay the badness of Mortdecai at the feet of its star. I envy Depp’s capacity for self-amusement, but it’s a pity he’s so rich and enbubbled that no one dares say to say to him, “Er, Johnny ... this is, er, really very bad.”

Mortdecai is an anachronistic mess that never succeeds in re-creating the breezy tone or snappy rhythm of the classic caper movies that it aims to pastiche.

Johnny Depp has done so much for us. Let us now return the favor and pretend Mortdecai, a disastrously misjudged career low, never existed.

Reasonably okay movie, with funny scenes here and there. Conversation was noteworthy funny too. Not so much on character development apparently. Worth a watch on TV I guess.

Mortdecai relies a bit too much on slapstick to be considered witty, and a bit too much on its magnificent (on paper) cast to impress us. After all, the silliness of the act is undeniable, but it's the kind of silliness a child would like. While there are plenty of British people playing American characters, this time we see two Americans (Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow) playing two British characters, and their accents were unfortunately not well studied, resulting in an obvious farce and parody of itself that I'm afraid is not intentional at all.

Unfortunately Johnny Depp become so much cliche and unsightly. this movie have something like 2 ou 3 good and fun scene. Every thing else are horrible.
