The actors all ham it up to a degree suited to a project so flat, cheap and derivative, which helps keep Mindcage at least watchable, if never exceptional.

The end result is a movie whose chief entertainment value may come from taking an inventory of the different ways its various characters pronounce the name of its imprisoned, assistive madman.

The great cinematography, high production value and excellent cast weren't enough to move the entertainment needle anything beyond the average mark for me. In such an oversaturated genre there were only a few exceptional moments. The double twist ending was ridiculous (of course!).

For me it felt quite average, the acting was good, but the story itself lacked something to have it feel more scary or something.

It is an often nasty film, with little regard for anyone on screen, far more content to grasp for false depth rather than logic. It’s a shame there’s nothing to root for other than its dwindling runtime.

This movie could have been better if you subtract the half dead zombie corpse that's pretending to be Martin Lawrence and the lead female role who's name I can't even remember because she's just awful lol. The plot is extremely predictable. The writing is lazy and rushed. Malkovich saves the show, amazingly he didn't let the terrible acting of the others to bring him down. So sad that the first movie Martin is in inyearsis trash. Maybe he's just warming up. I'm still a fan Ol Marty Mar. Looking forward to your next one.
