Amazing! The time flies during the movie, because the narrative involves however is watching. Such a good representation about Michael and his difficulties in life. Cannot wait for “Michael 2”

The movie gets your feet tapping when it starts the music and continues throughout the film until the end.
Michael does what a musical biopic is supposed to do. It will make you smile, cry, dance, sing, and appreciate. Fans are always looking for a theatre experience that will justify the cost of a ticket, and this movie delivers. Jaafar Jackson is absolutely wonderful to watch. Coleman Domingo and Nia Long are also scene stealers (provided Jaafar isn't on screen). The journey of Michael trying to transition to a solo artist while feelling pressure from the family and his need to make others happy is portrayed very well. Detractors of this film want to make a social statement on why you shouldnt like this movie. I have a feeling if they approached this film objectively they would have given the same score as the audience. This movie is why theatres exist. Go see it!

The movie was kind of BAD, didn't really make me jump OFF THE WALL with excitement as I thought it would, not much of a THRILLER, in my opinion. I honestly wanted to XSCAPE the movie theatre, they made DANGEROUS risks making this movie.
10/10.

You can tell this is a work of love. Jafaar does a great job, and there were a couple of times I could have sworn I saw Michael himself on the screen. An entertaining biopic - I never believed something like this existed, but it does. Critics are absolutely removed from reality and their opinion has stopped mattering a long time ago.

Don't listen to the critics!!!! This movie was made for FANS and it shows! The only bad thing about this movie is there ain't enough of it! We want MORE MICHAEL! But I guess that's what the sequel is for. Jafaar really nails it, I mean he has got all his uncle's moves and mannerisms DOWN! If I was shown a clip of Jafaar and nobody said it was from the movie, I would think it was MJ for sure. He is that good. This kid's gonna be a star in his own right!!!! TLDR: Critics don't know crap. If you are a fan of MJ, you will LOVE this movie. If you ain't a fan, watch it and you will BECOME A FAN. Remember folks, most "critically acclaimed" films are boring ass films. Michael is for fans, and us fans think it's AWESOME!!!!

Regardless of the full spectrum of Michael Jackson, this is a solid part 1. Every music worked, every tribute worked on the first try. It's a miracle.

See the review and hesitate to watch but decide to give it a go since I like Michael Jackson, like, not a big fan. The movies is great the design and pacing are amazing, really show his struggle and his outcome. Wish they would show his thought process and creative side more, but how could they know how/what he think right. Despite being biographical, it still has character, the villain and supporter. The music is great. Still, it's a shame they end with a cliffhanger. I know they can't just finish it because they also have everything and don't want to cut stuff out, but they could do a good cliffhanger, not just put up a screen that says, "He'll be back." come on man. Overall, nice.

It's one the best Biographical film of all time and Jafar Jackson played the role of his uncle Michael Jackson with such a wonderful and excellent performance that I actually thought he was Michael Jackson.

Michael arrives with enormous expectations, attempting to capture the life and legacy of one of the most influential figures in music history, Michael Jackson. While the film succeeds as a visually engaging and musically rich experience, it ultimately falls short as a fully realized biographical **** the center of the film is Jaafar Jackson, whose performance is widely regarded as the film’s greatest strength. He not only resembles Michael Jackson physically but also channels his movements, voice, and stage presence with striking authenticity. The concert sequences, in particular, are electrifying—transforming the film into something that often feels more like a live performance than a traditional narrative feature. However, this strength also highlights one of the film’s central weaknesses: its reliance on spectacle over substance. While the musical numbers are captivating, the storytelling frequently feels fragmented and superficial. Key moments in Michael Jackson’s life are either rushed or simplified, preventing the film from achieving the emotional depth expected of a biopic of this scale.Perhaps the most controversial aspect of Michael is its approach to the more complex and troubling parts of Jackson’s life. Rather than engaging critically with these issues, the film largely avoids them, presenting a carefully curated and sanitized version of events. This choice makes the narrative feel incomplete and, at times, overly protective of its subject. For some viewers, this approach may preserve the celebratory tone; for others, it undermines the film’s credibility.Structurally, the movie adheres closely to familiar biographical formulas. It moves from childhood hardship to global **** in a predictable rhythm, offering little in terms of narrative innovation. As a result, it can feel less like a deep character study and more like a polished montage of highlights—a cinematic “greatest hits” collection.Despite these shortcomings, audience reactions have been notably positive. Many viewers embrace the film as a tribute, valuing its emotional resonance and nostalgic appeal over its narrative limitations. In this sense, the film succeeds in honoring Michael Jackson’s cultural impact, even if it does not fully explore the complexities behind **** conclusion, Michael is an entertaining and visually impressive tribute that captures the energy and brilliance of Michael Jackson as a performer. Yet as a biographical film, it remains cautious, conventional, and ultimately incomplete—more comfortable celebrating the legend than confronting the man behind it.

This movie is excellent in capturing the growth of an artist, as well as exploring family dynamics. Many scenes are poignant, and I have shed tears many times. It is a great music biopic too with all the singles being played (as expected). The performance is simply incredible. It was difficult not to stand and dance in the middle of the theatre! Produced by the Jackson family, the controversies of Michael's later life are addressed with the purpose of rehabilitating his image, but this is subtle and does not take you out of the movie.

This was an extremely captivating movie and the critics are very clearly going in business for themselves, inserting their world views and reviewing the movie with a bias. The box office proves how much people like this movie and no agenda driven slowflake critic can change that. Really excited for part 2.

This movie, and the cast are worthy of Oscar nominations. I read, and heard all the negatives before buying my ticket and watching this movie. Now, let me express the highs: Michael Jackson. His music. His talent. His creativity. What he offered the world of music. This movie concentrates on his musical talent. Everything he contributed including his dancing moves. I was singing along with the actor that plays Michael Jackson reliving those days including when I went to see him at Dodgers Stadium. I left wanting to hear his music again. Especially the song, Blood on the dance floor, that was overlooked. I just don't understand the criticism of this movie. I loved it, and I highly recommend you go watch it. Afterall, there's no denying that Michael Jackson was the entertainer of our time, if not the century. Go see it, and then form your opinion.

Normally such a move does three things, shines light on the tears and sacrifices it takes the talent to rise in which case Michael’s was devastating, it shows how they handled that fame once they have it and it’s lastly meant to show these larger than life people as human and can have people warm to them or at least understand their side of life. This movie does none of it, it feels heavily produced with words being heavily monitored like the Oscars. A glorified playlist in other words, Michael was a big personality that loved the big stuff and this movie has none of it. A let down as I am a genuine fan of his immense talent and have learned a lot about him through the years. I care not for sheer allegations so I won’t go into it but the movie could have not only been more but a lot more especially for it’s incredible budget for this type of movie… disappointing.

As Biopics go this one was entertaining, obviously anyone who know about Micheal Jackson knows about the controversies towards the end of his life. This movies avoids all that by ending before any of that controversy starts, it will be interesting to see if they make a sequel and if they will cover the controversies. In the end i have to disagree with the "mainstream critics" that largely seem to be upset that they actually depicted MJ in a positive light. They are attempting to be back seat directors and grading the film based on what they thought it should have been and not what it actually was.

I really enjoyed "Michael," but it does have its share of issues. This biopic is an entertaining and informative watch, but it does suffer from last-minute decisions that affect the third act. Now, the best part of "Michael," was the actors nailing all their roles: Jaafar Jackson's performance as his uncle was easily the best part of the film, essentially turning himself into his uncle, creating an almost 1:1 of Michael Jackson. Colman Domingo did very well as a domineering, looming and scary presence as Joseph Jackson. Nia Long did a great job playing the role of Katherine Jackson, who was doing her best to counteract the evil that was Joseph Jackson. And all of this topped off with a cameo from Mike Myers who I didn't even realize was in the movie until I researched “Michael’s” cast. Where this movie suffers is its focus, or rather its lack of focus and it’s re-shoots. The general consensus is that this movie focus more on the brand of Michael Jackson rather than the man himself, jumping from one major event to another without any real reflection on said events. While that’s kind of true, it feels like the intent was to be more of a celebration of his music and the impact it had on the world. However, it was also a bit disappointing to see absolutely no Janet Jackson, no Randy Jackson and little to no La Toya Jackson. And the biggest blow to this movie was the re-shoot. Due to a legal settlement clause, “Michael” went through a 22 day, $10M - $15M re-shoot. Unfortunately, a lot of critics believe that this devolves the movie into another “run-of-the-mill” biopic with a very abrupt ending. With all that said, “Michael” still ends up being a satisfying watch for big fans of Michael Jackson and movie goers alike. I hope the whispers of a sequel come to fruition.

Without going overboard - let’s first understand that this is a super complicated human being whose life cannot be captured in 90 minutes or so. Each of these can be its own movie. 1. His music 2. His dancing (style, uniqueness)
3. His early years including parental abuse. 4. His body transformation.
5. His relationships (weird as they are)
6. The child in him.
7. Later allegations and controversy. And ask yourself. What do you expect to learn about MJ that you don’t already know. What this movie does is take the path of least resistance in a rather shallow way that is PG13 and enjoyable with popcorn. You can watch this with your kids. Just about fun. Entirely forgettable. If there’s one shining quality about this movie - it’s Jafaar Jackson and his taking on his uncle’s persona. No one moves and dances like MJ - as JJ does. Incredible dedication to the cause.

A generic and worn out "biopic". Whenever a biopic's title is literally just the subject of the film, its usually a bad sign! (Melania is an example).

"Michael" was nostalgic and lovely. My biggest complaint is that it was too short. Only a Jackson could have handled this role, and Jafaar Jackson is a revelation.

In need of way more musical sequences! Very disappointed as a huge fan of Michael Jackson's music. Great musical sequences (when they are happening), stellar performances from Jafaar and Colman, and nice visuals/costuming. However, I wanted a lot more music in this! A whole hour or more of this film was boring, spending so much time repetitively showcasing how Michael visited kids in hospitals, bought a chimp, so on and so on, instead of really diving into how he made his music. They could have really delved deeper into his catalogue of music even with this time period. By the end, it really felt like half a movie. And I get it, "well it's about the music and it delivers". But to me while quality wise it delivers, there's not nearly enough to make this worthwhile.

Lot o shills out for this one. The user scores are off the charts. 8.0? for a music biopic? Give me a break. I liked the Jackson Five and it is disappointing to hear the hardships these kids went through at the hands of a domineering father. Big question; would they have been as successful without him? As far as music biopics go, most of them are **** and it sounds like this one is too. I just don't really care about the details of Michael Jackson's life. I remember when Thriller came out and I really didn't get it, because I was just realizing my own taste in music. I think the two poles artist and entertainer, and I like both, but MJ seemed like all entertainer to me. Nothing wrong with that, but I find that when they both come to a happy median (and I tend to lean toward artist rather than entertainer - I really don't care if everyone likes or dislikes it as long as I do). The dancing does nothing for me. The choreography and showmanship are secondary to the music. The Jackson Five gave me what I needed and once he went solo, I lost interest. I can see me losing interest in this biopic even quicker.

After watching Michael twice, my perspective shifted in a meaningful way. While the pacing initially felt rushed, a second viewing revealed a more intentional structure that supports the film’s focus on a specific period in Michael's life. The standout element is undoubtedly Jaafar Jackson. For a debut performance, this is remarkable. Rather than relying on imitation, he captures the essence of Michael through physicality, emotional expression, and exceptional dance execution. His performance elevates the film significantly. The film succeeds particularly in its concert sequences, which recreate the atmosphere and cultural impact of Michael’s performances with impressive authenticity. For viewers familiar with his work, these moments carry strong emotional resonance. Criticism surrounding the absence of later controversies overlooks the film’s narrative scope. By concentrating on the rise rather than attempting to cover an entire life story, the film maintains coherence, even if this results in a faster pace. A continuation or second instalment would be a more appropriate format to explore later complexities in depth. Overall, Michael is an engaging and emotionally impactful portrayal that prioritises artistry and legacy. It may not attempt to be comprehensive, but within its chosen scope, it is highly effective.

Well-made movie on the ascendancy of an icon from the 60s to the 80s. This movie showcases the talent and visionary side of his genius and the inner workings of his family and the clutch his father had on him inhibiting himself from fully becoming a superstar. Without giving away spoilers the movie captures a section in his life before the controversies so I really don’t understand the critics criticism. There is obviously more story to tell that will dive into those topics. It’s not fair to judge a film for what you hoped it would be versus critiquing it for what it is. There’s clearly an agenda here by critics who personally don’t like Michael and think he’s guilty of crimes that hasn’t produced any legitimate evidence. you must have integrity as a critic and separate your feelings and judge a film for what it was trying to achieve here which was the first HALF of his life,

I super duper enjoyed the movie. It really brought back the Michael Jackson back from the grave. The fans of the whole wide world loved it. Antoine Fuqua did an excellent job not bringing the controversial of Michael Jackson. Just focusing uprising to the fame. I don't care what the critics say. Go and watch the movie yourself. Jaafar Jackson & Colman Domingo did excellent in the movie. my rating for the movie 9.5/10. You won't regret it from watching it all over again. Especially on IMAX format.

A Flawed Biopic, but an Electric Cinema Experience. 86/100 I really liked Michael. Honestly, this is exactly the kind of film where the cinema experience matters. I saw it in IMAX, with loud speakers, a massive screen, and the perfect seat. That felt like the right way to watch it. Maybe even the only proper way. This is a movie built for scale, sound, performance and **** a film, it has flaws. As an experience, it absolutely **** reviews are not only about whether a film is deep, perfectly written or morally complete. They are also about whether it entertains me. On that level, Michael scores very highly. The runtime breezed by. I never felt bored. I was just entertained. That **** film is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Jaafar Jackson as Michael Jackson, with Juliano Krue Valdi playing young Michael. It covers Michael Jackson’s rise from the Jackson 5 era through the late 1980s, and it has already been discussed as a crowd-pleasing but controversial biopic because of how it handles — or avoids — the darker parts of Jackson’s **** yes, that criticism is fair.A biopic should usually show more than the glory. It should show the contradictions, weaknesses, uncomfortable parts and darker edges of a person. Michael is definitely cautious. It dodges some of the things people expect a Michael Jackson movie to address. It is not the most challenging version of this **** here is the thing: while I noticed that, I did not really care while watching it.I was not watching this film as a courtroom document or a full moral biography. I watched it as a cinematic music experience, and on that level, it delivered. The film pulled me in through performance, music, dancing, sound and atmosphere. It felt like watching a legend being **** acting deserves praise. Jaafar Jackson is very good as Michael, and the family connection adds an extra layer. But the one who really blew me away was Juliano Krue Valdi as young Michael. That performance was great. It is not easy to play someone that iconic, especially as a child, while having to sing, dance, perform and carry scenes with that much pressure. He was genuinely **** dancing and performance scenes must have been extremely difficult to pull off, and that is where the film earns respect. You can feel the work behind it. The precision, staging, movement, singing, and attempt to capture Michael’s presence — none of that is easy. The film may simplify parts of his life, but it does not feel lazy in its **** soundtrack is obviously full **** is Michael Jackson. The film has one of the easiest and hardest soundtrack jobs imaginable. Easy because the songs are legendary. Hard because bad use becomes cheap nostalgia. But the song choices worked really well. The music was powerful, the singing was strong, and in IMAX, the whole thing became genuinely exciting. This is where the film becomes less like a traditional drama and more like a concert-biopic **** final concert sequence was good, though not as strong as the Live Aid scene in Bohemian Rhapsody. That scene had a special cinematic electricity that is hard to match. Michael gets close in moments, but not quite to that same emotional high. Still, the concert scenes work. They are entertaining, impressive and worth seeing on the biggest screen possible.Where the film is weaker is in character depth.Michael’s father, Joe Jackson, felt too one-dimensional. Colman Domingo is a strong actor, but the writing could have given him more complexity. The film shows the harshness and pressure, but it could have made him feel more like a fully multidimensional person rather than mainly a force of control and **** film also did not have a huge emotional impact on me. I enjoyed it a lot, but I was not deeply moved by it. I understood Michael’s life better, especially the first part of it, and I felt the pressure, talent and machinery around him. But emotionally, the movie did not fully **** again: I was **** sometimes that is enough. Not every good film has to destroy you emotionally. Some films are great because they give you a spectacular, energetic, well-performed cinema experience. Michael did that for **** is not a perfect biopic. It avoids some of the hardest questions. It could have given certain characters more depth. It is probably more interested in celebrating Michael Jackson than interrogating him. That will bother some viewers, and I understand **** as a moviegoing experience, especially in IMAX, it was excellent.Michael is flawed, selective and maybe too protective of its subject — but it is also hugely entertaining, musically powerful and carried by impressive performances, especially from Juliano Krue Valdi and Jaafar Jackson. I had a great time watching it, and for this kind of film, that matters more than pretending the flaws are bigger than the experience.I walked in expecting a biopic.I got a **** it was a very good one.
