It’s a travesty, a disaster, a blight on the history of superheroes and cinema itself. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Still, for much of “Madame Web,” even when it turns bad, it’s a pleasure to see Johnson in this kind of movie.

Everything about it seems flat and artificial and contrived, from the limp dialogue to the annoying special effects to some surprisingly uninspired performances, given the talent level of the cast.

The only real bummer about Madame Web, the latest installment in the Spider-Man chronicles, isn’t that it’s bad, but that it never achieves memorably terrible status. The story is absurd, the dialogue snort-out-loud risible, the fights uninspired. Even so, there are glimmers of wit and competency. And then there’s its star, Dakota Johnson, who has a fascinating, seemingly natural ability to appear wholly detached from the nonsense swirling around her.

Even Johnson has her limits, and Madame Web, one of Sony’s attempts to build out its own Spider-Verse, blows so far past them that you can practically guess which scenes were shot last based on the degree to which its star has given up.

Madame Web feels like a cross between an extended soda commercial and a teaser trailer for still more spinoffs.

Stupendously stupid and never remotely in control of its faculties, the film represents a kind of weaponized incompetence, hostile and assaultive.

It doesn't deserve such bad comments. You exaggerated a bit too much. I'm ashamed of myself for listening to you and delaying watching this movie for so long. I don't understand whether there is such an overreaction due to sexist thoughts.I'm so glad Dakota Johnson got rid of that insecure girl character who cares about her over-the-top man's sex. She showed that there will be more to her acting as well. What is disturbing to see? Don't you want to see true love? or to feel? The movie was successful in conveying its emotions to me. It was nice to feel his soul. I think it deserves this score. I hope it's because of the stupid comments

A Heartwarming Journey of Found Family and the Awakening of Destiny250911 (3.2)"Let’s try this again." While the film suffers from somewhat bland action and a villain who is defeated far too easily, the grounded drama of how four lonely individuals become a family resonated deeply with my personal taste. It provided exactly the kind of emotional warmth I’ve been craving lately, and for me, it was significantly better than "Morbius." I enjoyed viewing it as a "Spider-Woman: The Beginning" style teen movie. The story follows Constance Webb, a scientist in the 1970s Peru Amazon who sought a mystical spider to cure her unborn daughter’s fatal genetic condition, and her daughter Cassie, a socially distant paramedic in Queens who eventually discovers her own clairvoyant **** narrative shines in its portrayal of Cassie—played by the ever-charismatic Dakota Johnson—as she evolves from a solitary woman who refuses to even name her cat into a protective mentor for three teenage girls: Anya, Julia, and Mattie. These girls, each coming from broken or absent homes, find a guardian in Cassie as they flee from Ezekiel Sims, a flat but threatening villain who stole the spider’s power for selfish gain. The film’s strengths lie in its practical approach to heroism; Cassie uses her paramedic skills—like CPR and her knowledge of the city’s geography—to protect the girls, rather than relying solely on physical combat. Despite its weak ending for the antagonist, the themes of accepting "great responsibility" and the touching connections to the broader Spider-Man lore, including a young Ben Parker and the birth of Peter, made it a satisfying experience. It is a story about realizing that the future is interesting because it hasn't happened yet, and I found the bond between the "Spider-Women" in training to be genuinely moving.

The story/plot is weak. Not enough climax, suspense or thriller. Lead actors did pretty good acting. Overall feels average & not enough fun to watch. You can skip this one, won't be a big miss.

Another nail in the coffin of Sony's last superhero franchise. Maybe its time they stick games because they **** at films. Time to throw in the towel and give the spiderman franchise and its characters licences to Disney/Marvel where they will do them some justice because this isn't it. B team cast, awful writing and terrible story. Pack it up

When you hire a B-team to make a movie, you get a B movie. There is something paradoxical about putting a major motion picture budget behind a mediocre that makes it worse. If Madam Web were straight to video or a made for TV movie, it would have a cult following. I heard a lot about the poor acting of the main star of this film. These complaints overshadow the poor acting of the lesser stars of this film. To me, the issue with the acting is also an issue with casting, and the casting here is poor. I imagine a lot of casting here was based on looks, and that never works because being pretty is not a character trait. The titular Madam Web is a great example of this. The film presents us with a 30 year old orphan working the tough as nails job of a New York paramedic in the wake of 9/11. And what we get is an awkward woman who acts like a born slacker. The writing doesn't help. At one point our paramedic heroine sees a dozen police officers killed by the villain, and her only reaction is that the police are looking for her as a suspect. But what do I know. Maybe in the wake of 9/11, the FNDY and NYPD hated each other. Too much of the story telling is told via exposition. We have 4 hero origin stories and need to hear 4 backstories. The villain goes on and on about his backstory. You grew up poor. We get. In case you didn't know, must of us grew up poor. The beauty of a B movie is that it wouldn't have the budget for so many actors. We'd get some blessed quiet that would leave something to our imaginations. What does "Madam Web" have? Some of the effects look good. Madam's Web power is the ability to see possible futures and then avoaid them. This was done well in the dozen or so "Final Destination" movies, but not as flashy as this. The Rube Goldberg death mechanics in the "Final Destination" films were super hoaky. Not here. Madam Web sees people and animals die in the normal old fashioned way, only more cinematic. The spider villian looks alright, but is a little too "on the nose" with the "Spider peson costume". Marvel has over 60 years of designs in comics to pull from. Use that. All-in-all, "Madam Web" is a movie you can watch.
