Though any Cage-free attempts at comedy fall flat, the action remains exciting, thanks in large part to Logothetis’ steady-handed, no-frills approach. Who knew putting together a bunch of gifted martial artists and letting them exercise those skills could take an action film so far?

Jiu Jitsu is an ambitious undertaking in its way, one that will probably tickle hardcore martial-arts and samurai movie fans, although the attraction may be more academic than adrenaline-fueled.

Jiu Jitsu is too disjointed and tame to be worth an impulse-rent; it's also too silly to be enjoyed with a straight face, and too lazy to be endearingly dopey.

As flat and uncompelling as its title, Jiu Jitsu plays like a hybrid of rejected audition tapes from Predator with the outtakes from the fifth Highlander movie (and not the ones starring Christopher Lambert). But just how bad is Jiu Jitsu? Well, bad enough that the phrase “a waste of Nicolas Cage's talents” actually means something.

If the overlong and often tedious brawls were at least believable and well-choreographed, maybe there would be something commendable and entertaining to be derived from the experience of watching the film.

Less a Nic Cage movie than a movie with an extended cameo by Nic Cage in a “finely crafted” paper hat (!), this Greek/Cypriot co-production mixes mediocre martial artistry with a sci-fi spin and ends up a puzzlement to both genres.

Cage’s latest film, Jiu Jitsu must represent his career worst — and keep in mind, this is the man who made 1989’s “Vampire’s Kiss,” in which he ate a cockroach.

Here's a fun one, if you like bad Nicholas Cage movies. The whole movie I was just saying no, No, No, nO. I did the stupid thing of trying to watch this with my dad, he couldn't stand 20 minutes of it...20 minutes, lol. Watch this if you like bad movies, don't watch this if you hate bad movies. Clearly, Nick had a favour he had to do for a friend, a buddy of his, and was forced to do that, either that or Cage's manager is stupid. But is this better than Peter Pan and Wendy? .... Sure I'd say so. Do what you will with this movie, just know that every scene is misplaced and misunderstood, the music is what sells the quality of the movie(The bad quality that is.)

I think this movie's biggest flaw was the incredible lack of plot! There was just nothing to it but one random battle scene after another, with a whole lot of NOTHINGNESS in between! I felt like I was in a video game, except I didn't have the controller in my hand to control my man. It was a very strange paradox, I can assure you.

This is a strange mash up of martial arts and space invader. A crew of expert fighters takes on an almost invincible creature that plagues Earth every 6 years when a comet passes overhead. Cage plays the wizened father figure who dispenses wisdom and occasional humor. Other than that, it’s almost non-stop battles, which could be fun if they weren’t so bland in execution and originality. Anyone who can identify any of the stars other than Cage will probably enjoy seeing this lineup of luminaries whacking away.
