Hubie Halloween

The jokes aren’t often Sandler’s best material but Hubie Halloween is as sweet and easily digestible as a Milky Way.

Hubie Halloween gets by on the strength of its cameos and sight gags.

Silly, overstuffed and as sweet as anything Adam Sandler has done.

There is something half-satisfying and pacifying about Hubie Halloween. In true content-blurring Netflix fashion, Sandler has essentially made a likable children’s movie to babysit undemanding adults.

There’s also an earnestness and unashamedly goofy quality to the whole thing that might even win over some of the actor’s longtime naysayers.

Occasionally, the nostalgic back-patting makes way for a few good jokes.

A few pranks, some slapstick, some pratfalls, with a modern “Stooge” as the hero. Not many laughs, but hey — he’s keeping the “moron comedy” genre alive.

Surprisingly good. It’s a funny movie with lots of twist. Not typically an Adam Sandler fan but this is good.
