To see performers of color so joyously at home in their roles as founding fathers and mothers, as leaders, as American myths was always one of the show’s chief gifts. In reenvisioning our past, it gave a salutary jolt to our present and helped remap our future.

Normally I'm not really into musicals, but after doing some of the Hamilton songs in a drama class, I felt like watching the film to see what all the hype was about. And now I understand. AN ABSOLUTE MUST-WATCH

The best musical of anytime in the history of musicals. There is nothing like it EVER!

Granted, nothing can fully replicate the unique qualities of a live theatrical experience. But if anyone doubts that Hamilton can still deliver a Broadway wallop to the comfort of one's couch, well, just you wait.

Every shimmy, kick, spin, hook and sweep; every sideways glance and smirk, every stretched neck tendon, every warm smile; they’re all there for us to soak in. The combined effect is a cure-all for woe. “Hamilton” can’t solve the problems staring us down. That’s a ridiculous thing to expect. But it can give us a brief respite from those problems, and even provide a new framework with which to understand them.

There's a good reason behind every technical choice — closeups and moments of stillness intensify the intimacy of the more introspective songs; nimble camerawork juices up the contentious cabinet battles; wide shots and stunning overheads add to the scope of momentous scenes like the fatal duels that punctuate the story.

The film aims to be more intimate, but it frequently deprives audiences of the show’s ingenious spatial design. Still, this original cast is so charismatic — and Miranda’s ultra-dense, dizzyingly clever book and lyrics are so effective — that they maintain our attention even when the edit feels like one of those live sporting events, as a producer sits in the control booth choosing between cameras in the moment, rather than planning out the shoot in advance.

Not great, not terrible and pretty dull if I’m being honest. Definitely no where near as good as most of the reviews here make it sound.

My goodness, maybe plays just aren't for me but this was unbearably boring and uninteresting. Also doing the whole thing in hip hop felt... Awkward? Idk. Even my girlfriend who demanded we watch it almost fell asleep, and I certainly did around the 3/4 mark. Kinda feel like people are just giving this a 10 due to current events.

There may be a high quality production here, but none of it landed in movie format. The king was good, anticipating the rhymes was entertaining for the first hour (out of THREE!?), and watching how the actors would conversate to a hip hop beat was distracting. Not my cup of tea.

No, I dont like musicals overall much (although I enjoyed some nice musicals). And for sure I dont like Hip Hop. And in addition it is sooo "political correct" to show black or hispanic people representing historically white people lol.
So no, I didnt enjoy Hamilton and stopped it after 30 minutes.
