Gran Turismo captures a truly remarkable young man and his journey to professional legitimacy. This is for anyone needing a jolt to the system and focusing on getting back on one’s true path in life.

Gran Turismo, a spectacular new racing film from the Oscar-nominated writer and director Neill Blomkamp, wisely sidesteps the pitfalls of many dreadful screen outings (often from the perennial game-ruiner Uwe Boll) by finding a big-hearted human-interest story to better explore the racing environment.

What the film lacks in connective tissue, it makes up for in sheer vibes.

Gran Turismo is a piece of salesmanship that never stops selling — the movie constantly reminds us how much the real races resemble the accurate simulation of the game, and even the Sony Walkman gets a fair amount of screen time — but the vroom-vroom of it all delivers enough adrenaline and character-building to make this a solidly entertaining piece of late-summer cinema.

Great racing sequences aside, it’s so clichéd and unadventurous that it makes its source material seem deep by comparison.

In the end, Gran Turismo can't escape the feeling of being actively held back at every turn — by the confines of video game conventions, by a painfully trope-laden script, or simply by the fact that everything this video game movie wants to achieve has already been done better before.

Commerce contaminates the whole endeavour.

A high spirited from nobody to most popular dude story based on a true story. It might strike a chord with people who appreciate the art of video games and enjoy them. The movie is simple and made well enough to sit through it. There is nothing exceptional about the movie that makes it stand out.

Yikes… the modern gran turismo video games are mid at best and this… was just a terrible film for a franchise that is struggling to be relevant. This movie has very little reason to exist and this film proves that it shouldn’t… taking a sim racing journey from virtual reality to real life in a way that it didn’t happen correctly in real life with tons of inaccuracies that are proven wrong easily was extremely insulting and the film had the most horrendous CGI that looked like it took the race cars from the actual game weather or not it was GT7 or GT sport and pasted them poorly on the big screen along with bad writing and poor acting. This film was just a middle finger to sportscar fans and a horrendous look at sim racing and what it takes to be a skilled driver

Is it relatively faithful to the real-life story of Jann Mardenborough? Sure, but the film lacks heart. There's nothing that makes you invested in what is happening. We just go through the predictable motions with unlikable characters as the movie tries to force us to care about what is going on. It's not even that it is a bad film, it's just lifeless. We've been through something like this far too many times before.
