Fantastic Four

Blessedly unimportant, Fantastic Four cruises along on modest yet genuine comic-book pleasures.

Michael Chiklis (of the cop show "The Shield") steals the movie as the agonized Thing.

Fails to be anything more than a mild summertime diversion. Based on the Marvel comic book, it's a prototypical air conditioner movie.

Fleetingly enjoyable in very short bursts, this is the most cynically constructed event movie in recent memory, its heart purely in its wallet. A fantastic bore.

A comic-book movie unashamed of its roots, meaning it's unabashed about being silly, overwrought nonsense, which works to its benefit--so much so that you're almost rooting for it by the end.

An overinflated B-movie with no grace, no subtext, no wit, and featuring beefcake/cheesecake actors who look like they've been plucked from the soaps.

The really good superhero movies, like "Superman," "SpiderMan 2" and "Batman Begins," leave Fantastic Four so far behind that the movie should almost be ashamed to show itself in the same theaters.

Good times, FF needed a new look, very reminiscent of the Ultimate FF by Millar. Enjoyed Doom as well. Love the Sci-Fi explorer approach. The new actors on board were great.

Review – Fantastic Four (2005)Not many people notice, but if you look closely, among the producers of this film—besides the usual Stan Lee—there’s also Kevin Feige. Yes, that Kevin Feige, the same man who, just two years later, would go on to launch the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, that detail alone isn’t enough to save a movie that, while perhaps the most “decent” among the pre-MCU attempts, still suffers from a long list of issues, both narratively and in terms of ****’s start with the visual effects: overall, they’re nothing impressive. Some sequences manage to avoid that annoying green screen feel (which is a good thing), and Johnny Storm is actually rendered fairly well, considering the film came out in 2005. But Mister Fantastic’s stretching looks awkward and unconvincing most of the time. Sue Storm, meanwhile, is poorly handled—both visually and as a character. As for The Thing, his appearance is inconsistent: in some shots he seems taller than everyone, in others shorter; and his rocky body looks more like rubber than **** these are minor flaws compared to the film’s structural problems. The space mission that kicks off the plot is vaguely and hastily explained: we’re told that the cosmic storm is weeks away, then suddenly it’s minutes, and then seconds. The scene transitions are so abrupt that it feels like everything is happening at **** moment they gain their powers is supposed to be intense, but it’s ruined by the actors’ unintentionally funny facial expressions. Afterward, they end up in a clinic and slowly develop their abilities—another change from the comics, where they acquire their powers during a deep-space expedition after exposure to cosmic radiation, not from some random nebulous cloud.Character behavior is also a problem. Reed Richards always looks like he just woke up. Susan Storm seems to be there only to undress every fifteen minutes, and apparently can’t wear anything that isn’t low-cut. Johnny Storm is the most faithful to the comics, even if his pranks get more screen time than the actual plot. The Thing, who should be a tragic and powerful figure, gets tricked far too easily by a man he doesn’t even **** then there’s Doctor Doom. He’s portrayed as a weak and forgettable villain. He kills everyone around him without consequences. We’re told his body is stronger than diamond, yet he’s afraid of The Thing, who is made of rock—although now that I think of it, he never actually uses this supposed power. He randomly puts on a mask that’s just given to him with no explanation. Doom is supposed to be an intelligent, strategic villain. Here, he comes off as clueless. Where’s his strength? Why turn him into some kind of Electro knockoff? Even though he calls himself Doom, he never actually uses his full **** the end, Fantastic Four (2005) is a so-so film with a simple, uneven plot and decent direction, weighed down by a weak screenplay full of holes and questionable choices.

It was ok I had more fun than not with this one for sure. Undemanding easy to watch family orientated Superhero movie for sure.

I liked FF comics the best when I first start buying Marvel comics. When I watched this film, I was like, is that really Doctor Doom? Oh, my. But this is masterpiece, compared to ssssooommmmeeee film in 2015. I didn't hate it like I hated Justice League, so it's still okay. This is not bad.

This movie really ****. It is very dated and the comedy is totally cheesy and just flat and unfunny. It might be the worst superhero movie I have ever seen.
