Even more family-friendly than its immensely popular predecessor.

Pure situation comedy, and it's still fresh enough to provoke laughs.

It was a nice family comedy sequel. It had great cinematography, cast, music, fun characters, lots of laughs and a good storyline. In my opinion, I like this one better than the first one

Murphy's second outing as the M.D. who talks to the animals is surprisingly engaging.

There's barely a scene in this movie that taps his (Murphy) special brilliance.
50
A tired, cobbled-together concoction.
30
Too much plot and too much faith in special effects and adolescent humor doom this "Babe" wannabe.
25
It's a terrible picture: ugly and illogical and clumsily staged and peppered with crude, witless humor.

It’s Okay
While Eddie Murphy is once again great here, The sequel feels let’s say “Magicless” compared to it's predecessor, But it’s definitely not a bad movie in the slightest.

Not bad for Eddie Murphy, as the movie is weird and kooky in a fun way, and I found myself enjoying it, in a twisted, indirect way. The series may not be perfect, but it's a little bit funny, at best.

Dr. Dolittle 2 is an improvement over the first movie. This time there is a clearer storyline, better progression, and a few side plots that help keep things moving, especially the stories involving the daughter, the dog, and the bear. The film feels more structured and connected, rather than a collection of random animal encounters.Eddie Murphy remains a likable lead, but surprisingly the movie isn’t particularly funny. His performance leans more toward family-friendly drama than comedy. The animal effects were acceptable for the time, though the CGI has aged **** biggest weakness is scale. The film builds toward a conflict that should feel important, but the finale feels oddly small and understated. The directing relies heavily on close and medium shots, making events that are supposed to feel significant seem confined and modest. Nothing is especially bad, but very little is memorable either. It’s a harmless family movie that works better than its predecessor, yet never rises above average entertainment.
