In Date Movie, the hormones, anxiety, and princess jealousy that fuel the majority of Hollywood love stories are made so excessive that the romance itself is revealed to be...every bit as big a crock as it usually is.

This anemic genre parody from two of the six writers of "Scary Movie" strives for the goofball precision of the brothers Zucker and, long before it reaches the end of its 70-odd minutes, gives you newfound respect for the comic genius of the brothers Wayans (two of the other writers of "Scary Movie").

While it's no Airplane, it's a decent enough spoof and nowhere near as bad as some would have you believe. There's a few funny moments here and there and the acting is pretty good for a parody film.

A lame pastiche of Hollywood romances.

Arguably the lamest of all the free-wheeling genre parodies that have taken flight since "Airplane!," Date Movie is stupefyingly unfunny in its attempts to mock romantic comedies, celebrities, reality TV shows and anything else that pops into the heads of its creators.

Boasting that your film features "two of the six writers of Scary Movie," as this film's marketing campaign does, is like bragging that you came in second in the annual Bulwer-Lytton Bad Fiction Contest.

Date Movie is a good date movie in one sense: If you're still speaking to the person who brought you to see this, you just might have a future together.

"Comedy is hard," said Steve Martin. For the writers of Date Movie, it's apparently impossible.

I'm not a big fan of chick flicks, but that is why I enjoyed this movie. It humorously mocks the genre I despise, and had me in tears of laughter during the entire movie. I may have had a few complaints, but they were only minor.

It's hit and miss but overall it's entertaining enough and I got a few laughs out of it. The first 20 minutes are the worst, after that it's quite funny.
Is it the 22nd worst film ever? No chance.

You'll see much worse spoof movies, you'll also see much better. This isn't a god awful movie.... in a sense. It's comedy is good, it has a lot of funny parts, but it still did not focus what so ever on character development or plot.

What can be said about Date Movie? Well...some scenes get a chuckle. Some actors give a good performance. The story has a beginning, middle, and end. However, there's a lot of cringey humor and a lot of extremely dated and un-funny references that really bog down this comedy. It's a mostly lazy parody with no real memorable traits.
