In Created Equal, Justice Clarence Thomas and his wife Virginia tell his life story using over 30 hours of interview time, personal photos, and archival news footage and does not shy away from the big moments of his life.

Despite its obvious lack of objectivity, Clarence Thomas: In His Own Words proves an undeniably important historical document, if only for the rare opportunity it provides to hear from its subject directly. Unfortunately, the unintentional portrait it paints is hardly a flattering one, although obviously many will disagree.

A compelling documentary about a man who has spent his life giving everything he has to stand for what is right and just. I read other reviews about this movie from places like the NY Times, or Washington Post and I wonder what they even watched when they rated it a 5. Just goes to show how far their credibility had slid.

A true masterpiece of a movie commemorating a man who has devoted his life for justice in America and to protect our freedoms from federal tyranny.

Created Equal is structured as a monologue of self-justification, a two-hour infomercial for the decency, the competence, and the conservative role-model aspirationalism of Clarence Thomas.

The one-sided film’s wheels come off when covering Thomas’ fraught 1991 Senate confirmation hearings.

If “Created Equal” is trying to promote the conservative cause, it does so gently, and blandly.

Filmmaker Pack is a partisan hack and this is artless political agitprop.

One wants to reach through the screen at the end of this narcissistic exercise, grasp his shoulders and give him a good shake: “Get a grip, man. You’re Clarence Thomas.”

Such an inspirational story, a man who had nothing in his name, surrounded by people who wanted to keep him down, in yet still made great achievements.

It was very good. I understand why people do not like it, especially critics, and I think the first scene sums it up nicely with Clarence at his congressional hearing saying: "I do not fix the boxes that people have assigned me." And that is very upsetting to some people, specially the journalist who I know have a liberal bias, because how could Clarence Thomas, having gone through what he went through, ever be conservative? You will have to watch to find out. Most documentaries I find boring, but this one was exceptional with keeping me watching.
